Mother actually let my sister (who is not even 16 yet) drive the RENTAL car yesterday. I can just see somebody crashing into them and Mother being liable for all of the damages to the rental.:sad2: I told her that, too. But she doesn't like to listen to me.
OMG!!!! She is CRAZY!!!!!!

Bernadette - I think you win! Maybe my family isn't THAT bizarre after all! Completely dysfunctional, but not that bizarre!:rotfl2:
I have NO spatial ability at all, so that toy would infuriate me. But I think he sounds like the type who would get a lot of enjoyment from it.;)
Completely functional here just "different". But they are nice and fun to be around. I didn't even tell you about DH's nieces swimming in her full legnth skirt.:rotfl: That was a few years ago-last year she borrowed shorts from her mom (DH's sister) and this year she had some wierd like high tech fiber athletic type sleveless dress with a T under it? I'm surprised she doesn't make herself a 1920's style swimming outfit. I think she sews-her mom does for sure. She weaves. I should post a photo of the scarf she wove for me a few years ago. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Thought I would post a link to the "thing" I bought my nephew-in-law (DH's niece's DH). It is usually very hard for me to buy for them. I tried NOT buying for them for a few years-only giving to their DD hoping they would get the hint but they continue to send DH & I each $50 Amazon GC so I feel guilty. They are both nutty crunchy anti establishment. He wears 1800 something style clothes-wool pants and stand up color shirt. Even this summer in the 90+ degree heat he only had wool pants when he came to visit-had to borrow a pair of shorts from DH. He is a computer geek at a university and he is publishing a series of books on old ballards. Oh and he plays the bagpipes. [ http://www.amazon.com/English-Scott...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195955523&sr=1-1 ] I've actually only met him 2 or 3 times. So I always tell DH it is his responsibility to get them gifts but then always feel I need to do something.:confused3

A few years ago I got his DD a wierd little wooden block thing with the blocks attached with elastic cords. You could shape it into different shapes. He really liked it. So this is what I got him this year-called a Ball of Whacks. It looks fun:

cool!!!

Gorgeous! Is that your new furniture? It's gorgeous too.

That is our new furniture. Not bad for a box set from Kmart. I couldn't believe that it was real oak. It did take me some time to assemble it all.

Jen, so sorry for you loss!:grouphug:

We're here for you if you need anything!

My wife lost her Grandfather on Thanksgiving, so we can definitely feel for you!

Was it this Thanksgiving too? I may have missed something

I wish I would stop feeling sick. I started feeling sick on Tuesday and keep feeling worse. I guess it doesn't help that I worked Midnight to 8am Thursday to Friday in Hershey. I am not supposed to work anymore till Monday which is a good thing. Although they wanted me to work Sunday and then changed their minds.

I was supposed to clean but don't feel like it. I ended up going to Michael's and AC Moore with my Mom to get some stuff for the holidays. I ended up getting the closure piece I needed for my necklace, I thought they were $1.99, well the were $12, they will be going back. I am not paying $12 for ten necklace closures. IMO they don't warrant a $12 cost but what do I know??:confused3 :confused3 I found other ones at Michaels which I have used and will be keeping.

I got about 14 skeins of yarn for 50 cents apiece so I will have to make some things with that. I also got a square grapevine wreath to decorate to hang up at work. I want to decorate it with feathers and beads and maybe some ornaments but did not see what I wanted to finish it plus I was feeling pretty crappy so I decided I would go later to find the stuff to finish it.

Jen I am sorry for you loss

:wizard: :grouphug:  to all of you

Take a day to just stay home and relax. You are wearing yourself too thin.

What a great link. Thanks

My mom and my sister are on their way back to my other sister's house. This afternoon went pretty well. I took my sister tot he mall and she was very reasonable. She bought some clothes, all on sale. She got a formal dress from my other sister - I have a feeling it has never even been worn. We were at the mall for about 2 hours. We came back and Mother was playing Yahtzee with DS. DH made dinner so they ate with us. It really was a nice visit and I think DS enjoyed it. Of course then the other sister was calling because she and her DH want to go out and they want Mother to come watch their children. Nice.

Hopefully they will get an early start home in the morning because the weather between here and Kansas is getting tricky.

I'm glad that your day went better than expected. I'm sure it was good for all of you.

Wow, everyone's been decorating their signatures. It really helps put me in the Christmas spirit.

We got the Christmas tree put up tonight. It feels good to have a few Christmas things done. Maybe I'll get the rest of the inside done tomorrow. It has been strange having 5 days off and not leaving town. It is amazing what one can get done.

Was it this Thanksgiving too? I may have missed something
No... this was 26 years ago, but she still thinks of him often, especially on Thanksgiving. Thanks!

I might have to go to K-Mart and check out their furniture. Yours looks very nice, and real wood too! That is always a bonus!

Here are the gifts I received from Bernadette.

I immediately had to have the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough piece of candy :lmao:

Thank you both so very much. Tom, I know you made the pillow. It is so very special.

Did you have to post mine with his?:lmao:

Ottawa is a beautiful city! Do Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving the same time as us in the US?

I think she means Ottawa, Ohio and not Ottawa in Canada. I have been wrong before and could be mistaken but I think she is going to Ottawa in Ohio.

Thanks Becky! I've never been to Ottawa, OH but Ottawa, Ontario really is a nice city.

You're welcome. I think I drove through Ottawa, Ohio but I'm not sure if I have even done that. I know I saw signs for it when driving through Ohio.

Take a day to just stay home and relax. You are wearing yourself too thin.

Well tonight I went to BJ's. My Mom wanted to go tomorrow, she doesn't have a membership card. I told her I wanted to go tonight so I could stay home all day tomorrow. Although on the way home I had a call from one of my Service Unit managers asking me about the Roller Skating party tomorrow and if I was bringing my girls. I questioned her about it, she wanted her leader with the same name not me. I asked if she would like me to come and told me it was perfectly fine if I don't come. So I am not going, but feel guilty. :rolleyes1

Keep your fingers crossed I have no phone calls wanting me to work tomorrow.

I have to get my oil changed. I realized tonight that I have way to many miles since my last change less then 3 months ago. I could do it myself but have a coupon for a $9.99 oil change and tire rotation. I'm not sure if I can buy the oil and filter for that price.

So, I had a very new experience on this last Disney trip. I have osteoarthritis in my knees and hip, and normally I do fine with my medication and some extra OTC meds on our trips but that wasn't the case this time. So DH insisted that we rent a wheelchair and give my knees a rest. Well, I was amazed at how rude some people can be, we were parked, waiting to watch the Power Rangers at MGM, not that I was overly excited about seeing them but we were right there, well, right as they came out several people pushed their way in front of me, completely blocking my view.

I would never do that, just like I would never cut in front of a child and block their view.

Jennifer,

I loved the announcement, I hope you printed one for the babies book.

Congratulations

Hi! Thanksgiving in Detroit went well. Ended up buying a new Christmas tree (prelit! whoo hoo!) at Meyers and a printer from Target. Other than that just a new signature thanks to all the other festive's from the DDA! :rotfl:

I hope everyone has a great rest of the holiday weekend - and enjoy the day!
