First, let me say that they have done nothing to deserve such an opinion from me. When it comes down to it, I think I'm just an airline snob.

I definitely agree about the leg room and nice seats. I really, REALLY hate the cattle call boarding (enough to make me despise the airline even if that were the only reason!). I understand that has changed, so I'm looking forward to seeing if that makes me feel a little better about it. I still think you should have your seat printed on your boarding pass before getting to the airport, without having to worry about how early you get to the gate -- even if the new number system helps out a bit.

I really dislike the "humor" (?) of the airline, flight attendants, etc. I'm not sure... Unless it's on a TV commercial, I just sort of find it obnoxious. Definitely just a personal preference, because I know a lot of people particularly enjoy that about SWA. :)

I miss the perks of the other airlines we like to fly such as XM radio, better snack service, etc. Stupid stuff, but it annoys me when I'm flying with them and they don't have any frills whatsoever.

I don't like any of the schedules offered from any city near me. Most of their flights I find have stops, or leave/arrive at very peculiar times of day for a vacation. I don't like that they aren't offered out of many, many large airports.

In general, I love to fly -- but I like to feel like it's not a big hassle to do so. If I have my way, the flight is PART of the vacation, not just a way to get somewhere.

Of course, this is the biggest truth that I have to admit -- I completely understand why it's not as ... cushy? comfortable? pampering? (I have no idea what word I'm trying to describe). It's because I can sometimes fly to WDW for $90 round trip, which is ridiculous in this economy. I'd fly in the Wright Brothers plane if it got me to Disney World for that cheap! :rotfl:
Thanks for your opinions. I guess with Baltimore being a SWA hub, I have lots of direct flights to choose from, so that hasn't been a problem for me. I don't know what you refer to as the humor though. Just clueless on my end I suppose. :) I don't mind the cattle call. If it saves me tons of money, which it does, that's something I can deal with. Snacks aren't a big priority for me either, since we are in the plane for less than 2 hours. For me, reliability and comfort is more of a priority, so when they are on time, don't keep changing flight times and don't cancel flights, I'm happy. :goodvibes I hope you have a better experience with them next time. Oh, we did find out the number system that they have put in place doesn't take effect until sometime in November.

I don't know the "rules" (I'm watching this season for the first time, actually) but I can't imagine that's true. Or at least that's it's highly enforced. The only reason I think this is because you'd be extremely hard-pressed to find an actor, model, etc that didn't have ANY dance training. Especially actors!

During a previous season one of the morning shows on a local radio station was talking about one of the contestants. Mario, is it Lopez? The kid from "Saved by the Bell"? Anyway, one of the DJs knew him growing up and knew for a fact that he DID have formal dance training which was supposed to be against the rules. But they might have changed since that season, or it might have been something they never really enforced.:confused3
This is the first time I have ever really paid any attention, mostly because of Mark Cuban. I don't have an opinion of him one way or the other, I just wanted to see how he did. Now I am just interested in who gets voted off each week but I never vote.

Oh. On our only flight with them, the flight attendants didn't shut up, they made corny jokes, sang songs (no joke) .... it got under my skin so bad, and that of my entire (much more laid back than I) family.

I thought it was just a bad group, but I heard several times on that flight and since then that southwest was "known for" it's humor. Who knows!

Oooh, good point. I really needed to clarify that I meant by car. I don't take Disney transportation  so Tammi, my answer is probably worthless if you aren't renting a car. I'm so impatient, I feel like it takes years to get ANYWHERE on Disney transportation! :rotfl:

ETA: December is going to test my patience, since I can't rent a car without an "adult"
Nope we never rent a car. More Disney money to save. ;)

We are watching this season just for Mark Cuban! :thumbsup2 Neither of us like NBA basketball (I hate it in fact), but we adore him! I was impressed that he got as far as he did... and now I'm hooked. I definitely don't vote either, just DVR it and watch the dancing.

:rotfl: I'm 0 for 2! Goodness, I feel like a bit of a brat. I just like my vacations a certain way, I suppose, from start to finish! I'm too much of a control freak!

Oh, you just wait until you have a baby!:rotfl2: (Still thinking sticky thoughts for you, by the way. Glue, Band Aids, Scotch Tape...) Little ones exist to remind us that we really control NOTHING. It is all an illusion!

I am too lazy to rent a car. Seems like a pain in the tushy to me. And I don't want to have to drive anywhere when I am on vacation. I actually like the Disney buses, I just didn't like the way the transportation was at WL. From now on I'll stick to AKL and Pop where they have dedicated buses.

Oh, I don't even need the baby to know that. I learned that lesson a pretty difficult way when, at 23 years old even, my only CHANCE at having one is with IVF! I don't know that anyone gets "lack of control" like an IVF patient... especially one in my circumstance ;)

Trust me though, I will NEVER stop trying to be in control.... I just might be less and less successful :rotfl:

Why Women Cry

A little boy asked his mother, 'Why are you crying?' 'Because I'm a woman,' she told him.

'I don't understand,' he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, 'And you never will.'

Later the little boy asked his father, 'Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?'

'All women cry for no reason,' was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, 'God, why do women cry so easily?'

God said:

'When I made the woman she had to be special.

I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world,

yet gentle enough to give comfort

I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue with out complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.

And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed.'

'You see my son,' said God, 'the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides.'
;
Please send this to five beautiful women you know today. If you do, something good will happen - You will boost another woman's self-esteem!

Yes, well, as you can see I am having no luck whatsoever in convincing my child that school is kind of important. I had far better luck convincing him of things when he was younger, so it is safe to assume that whatever control you manage to retain at first will continue to slip away!:rotfl:

I so hope that this round of IVF is successful for you guys!:wizard: :wizard:

At least we understand that we are just fooling ourselves sometimes (and poorly, at that)! :)

Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hi.

Theresa - I compained about bacon once. It was a generic brand and over 3/4 of the package was fat. I was beyond pissed when all you're in the mood for is BLT's. Sent a letter to both the store and the Co. that made it. Got an "any item free" from the store, and seven $1 off coupons for any generic brand to "give them another chance". :teeth:

Vicki - don't know what to say about NWA. I can honestly say I've never flown them. (No convient hub near me for my travel needs.) Just about any airline has flaws (some more than others) that can't be avoided. I hate SW, but will fly if the price is right. I love Airtran (convient airport) and CO (nonstop flights) and will attempt to never fly Delta again (flight changes/miss-connects cause my job to become horrible when they won't reissue a ticket for a client). If the price is right - which it definately sounds like - GO FOR IT! (Just make sure you have enough time for connections if needed.)

Jennifer - It sucks that you can be married and own a home, but NOT be able to rent a car. Some companies "adult" age starts at 21 with no extra fees though! I'll do some digging for you - I know there is one down in MCO that allows it.

Brandon is here and we finished carving our "hunkins", we had Glynis's pot roast for dinner, he loves it. Next we will be baking Halloween cookies before watching Transformers.

Thanks to "Mickey Mouse" for his stickers, he said he was going to take them to school and share them with his teacher.

You're welcome ;)

What is it about SWA that you hate? I think their seats have more room, they are leather, and we have never had a canceled or late flight. Now watch....I'm sure I've just jinxed myself into a problem the next time I fly with them.

I agree, we've never had a flight time changed and only a slight delay due to weather. Now Delta, they changed flight times daily for months prior to our trip and we ended up having to switch flights at the last minute due to another delay.

First, let me say that they have done nothing to deserve such an opinion from me. When it comes down to it, I think I'm just an airline snob.

I find that all airline food and snacks suck so it doesn't matter which carrier we get for food. We love that SW has inexpensive direct flights which are hard to come by in this neck of the woods. At 1 1/2 hours away it is that closest airport for us so that is a big bonus plus it is a midsized airport which is much easier to get in and out of. The cattle call did suck, but hopefully the new system will make that easier.

Oh, you just wait until you have a baby!:rotfl2: (Still thinking sticky thoughts for you, by the way. Glue, Band Aids, Scotch Tape...) Little ones exist to remind us that we really control NOTHING. It is all an illusion!

After not having a rental car on our short trip I was reminded time and time again why we rent a car. Disney transportation can be horrible and there is no predicting when that will happen. The buses also take longer routes. We will definitely continue to rent cars for my sanity. I'll drive without complaint compared to riding the buses. The bus transportation is fine if you aren't in a hurry, but not at all relaxing.

If that's what works for you, that's great! :thumbsup2 This group has such a wide variety of tastes but we can still all learn and get advice from each other.

Bob and I were having this conversation when we were in WDW. I was telling him that when I'm on vacation I want to stay somewhere just as nice or nicer than my home and eat food as good as or better than what I cook. Why pay money to stay and eat somewhere "less than"? That's what being on VACATION is all about.

I liked them more when the drivers actually talked to you and gave you bits of info. Or got everyone singing a rousing rendition of The Mickey Mouse Club March, or got the bus to sing happy birthday to someone wearing a bday pin. Now with the automated messages on the buses, there is no driver interaction.

With these things, I completely agree! :thumbsup2

Ok, all of you car renters......you are making me rethink this........

Explain to me how renting a car, driving, parking, riding a tram or walking a long distance is better than waiting for a bus for around 15 minutes.

If you can put up a good argument, maybe I will change my mind and try the rental route in Dec., if I can get a good price.

Ohhh, have a great time. Sometimes they show Cirque shows on tv and my mom has liked everyone.

Gary & I are each just taking a carry on beings it is only for 2 nights. I have the toiletries ready, just need to toss a couple of outfits in my bag & clean undies & I am good to go!

Beings we switched to MGM, we are going to see KA there. This will be our 1st time seeing a CIRQUE DU SOLEIL show, hope we enjoy it!

I promise to take pictures wherever we go :thumbsup2
