The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 3

I went to play Bunco for the first time last night, that was a bit fun. I was out until 11:00 :teeth: (big thing for this SAHM) and up by 6:00 :guilty: to go to work.
I have weekend duty today and should be counseling Airmen right now, but I have no desire what so ever to do that.
Bethie gave me what ever she had and I feel like a bunch of skin walking around taking up space.

I'm here for a little while. Mom is here but we are just hanging out watching TV until tomorrow when we do some serious sewing. I want to learn how to use my sewing machine so I can make some Pal Mickey clothes. I want a chef's hat for sure so he can wear it to Chef Mickey's for breakfast!! :rotfl:

If you start making Pal Mickey clothes we'll definitely have to talk!! :rotfl2: (not to get you started on another habit.....but I would love clothes for mine too!!!)

Ok, I want to share with you an email I got from DH today when I came to work. I know this is a bit long, but I just had to share what a great guy his is. I will interpret the best I can, (I will interpret in blue).

The first he wrote to a friend and former coworker who has now gone on to job at a higher level then our base. The second email he wrote to me.

SMSgt Black,
I was recently notified of my selection to SMSgt and of course leading up to the notification you reflect on everything done so far and, was it enough to make the cut. Last year I felt like I let everyone down by not studying, but my main focus was on my job and family. I vowed to myself and everybody who helped along the way that it would not happen again, not studying that is! To get to the point, I want to thank you for your time, both on the mentoring side and the inputs to my EPRs (enlisted performance reports) and also for being a friend. This promotion was not accomplished on my own. As I look back, the names that come to mind which stand out: Lt Col Marshall Morrison (his former commander), CMSgt(S) Lou Drummond, SMSgt Greg Warren (former supervisors), MSgt Paula XXXX (me) AKA “The Pusher”, TSgt “DMac” McMillan, and of course you, SMSgt Billie Black. You are a great inspiration to me and I look forward to shaking your hand when I see you again.

Thank you again from a grateful SMSgt Select and his family,
Mark XXXXX

MSgt XXXXX (me),
I wanted to send this email to your work because I respect you as a fellow SNCO (Senior Non Commissioned Officer, one of the top three enlisted ranks in the military).

There are very few active duty/reservists that can compete with your caliber of work ethic and professionalism. Thank you for pushing me to study, but more importantly, having total faith in my abilities to succeed. If it were not for the people listed in the email below, I would have been satisfied with retiring at MSgt, although very respectable, not my full potential. I know you have the makings of a CMSgt (Chief Master Sergeant is the highest rank and enlisted person can reach), you already exhibit characteristics of some of the finest.

Thank you very much,

I cried that he thought of me this way. I know he loves me and thinks I do a good job at work, but I didn’t know he thought I was at the level he does.

I just wanted to share.

Thank you.

Good Morning everyone! It looks like I have tons to catch up on...I think I need to start on page 745!
Steffy-thanks for the comments on the dress. :thumbsup2 I have an appointment at David's Bridal today at 4pm. I'm hoping they offer layaway.
Kristine-I plan on working on the PM sometime today, so I'll definately get back to you soon.
To everyone above and everyone else-Thanks for the prayers for Grandpa Al. Yesterday I left work early after receiving the phone call "You better come now if you want too" and drove up to Ashtabula to go see him. The hospice room is wonderful there. They really make it like an apartment. There was a sleeper sofa, and maybe three or four chairs that turned into single beds for overnighters. A table that sat 6 for dinner time, and plenty of outomans (sp?) for extra seating. I arrived about 2:30 pm and couldn't go into his bedroom until about 6pm. Too hard. Even then, I just stood in the doorway. Had a long drive home, I left about 8pm. At 10pm, my mom called. I'm glad I went. Thanks for the :grouphug: everyone! Please pray for my grandma now. Lots of hard decisions will have to be made about her care. She had a stroke 4 years ago and Grandpa Al was her caretaker.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Here in NE Ohio the weather is wonderful for a change! No snow or rain, just a nice cold sun shining outside. :thumbsup2

Chanon-

Glad you were able to go!! :grouphug: for your entire family!

I usually have the P3 going on!! You all were chatty since I left you!!

All right you all I am trying something in my house today....I don't know if any of you with older kids have gone through this. I sat my family(hubby included) down last night and took them to task for not doing their chores even though these are the ones they all agreed upon. I don't expect my house to be spit spot but I was getting tired of nagging my Saturdays away while doing laundry for 4 people!! So I told them I would not nag them today and in fact after I get off the computer I am not even going to be in the house.....need to leave the house because they keep coming in to ask me what they need to do next!! But if chores weren't done there would be consequences....help me on that part!!!

Jo- Oregon is only the next state up; you can come down and paint any room in my house you want.:thumbsup2

Only with the understanding that I'm a morning person.
So that means, up & ready to go.
I'm still waiting for XDH to get started.
It's only about 11:30 A.M. :furious:
Also room must be completly cleared.
This Dummy has everything piled in the middle of the room.
Covered of course.
How did he ever get to be a maintenance superviser?
He has no clue.
Oh well!

OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!!

Would you like to see a grown woman crying?!?!? I can't even beleive this:

today in the mail there was a large envelope from WDW for me - I had no idea what it could be - inside was an envelope that said "for Julia" and inside that envelope was a picture of Belle in her gold dress - signed; a collage that I had made of Julia and Belle and given to Belle the last time we rode the tea cups with her which she had also signed and a handwritten letter to Julia from Belle - here is the text of the letter:

Dear Julia,

I do believe your letter was the highlight of my year! How sweet and thoughtful of you and your mother to think of me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I need to know how special I feel to have met you. Its not everyday I get the chance to meet such a bright, happy and kind hearted little girl. I could tell from our first meeting that you had a sparkle. I hope that you always keep that. Always believe in yourself and the power of kindness.

All my love,
Belle

okay - I think I might stop crying sometime today - Julia is on cloud 9!!

That is just magical and fantastic! I don't blame you for crying. I'm sure Julia will always remember that her princess sent her a letter!

I guess I should have given more info, it's for a Manufactured Home building company.
TY!
How about "Custom Feel?"

Hi all - in for two minutes and back out again.

Tests were a pain in the butt -- just long. After a while my eyes were not focusing as easily as I would have liked. Heck - I haven't taken a test in 19 years, give the girl a break.

Thank you Ellen - the directions were perfect and I had absolutely no problem finding my way. I left at 7:30 and was in Greece by 8 - giving me plenty of time to get to the classroom with no trouble.

Kate - love the Belle letter! That's what makes Disney so special; having cast members that go the extra mile. I'd write a letter on her behalf if you can.

Heading out for the surprise party - have a great weekend everybody!

Hi, everyone. I just got caught up. Love all the new designs. I hope everyone who's sick gets better soon. Congrats to Jennifer and Kyle. Kate - that "Belle" really does have a special place in her heart for Julia! How nice of her to do that.

Here's an update on my daughter and granddaughter's trip to Norfolk - they made it!! The car wasn't ready until Tuesday, but they got to Norfolk on Tuesday evening and surprised my grandson, who thought they weren't going to make it. They are due to come back tomorrow - hope the car behaves this time!

Well, my firm definitely will NOT let me have the day after Easter off. So, I'm going to be driving down to Norfolk (450 miles) starting late Thursday afternoon (day before Good Friday) and continuing on Friday morning, then have to turn around and drive back on Easter Sunday so I can be back at work on Monday. I could always "have car trouble" but I don't play those games, and besides, if I don't show up, they'll be VERY unhappy!!! Oh well, 1-1/2 days and a driving marathon is better than not seeing my son and grandson at all until at least late June (haven't seen my son since October and grandson since November).

Have a great afternoon and evening, all. I may be on again later.
