Ok, we are under a winter storm warning today. It has been flurrying (sp?) all day with nothing and I just looked out my window and my grass is now completely covered in snow :(

It was 70 degrees last Saturday- what is going on!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the thought of a new school is bothering him, we just found out last week. As for the friends these are new ones. So I do not know alot about them. But I honestly think Riley is old enough to know better. Maybe these kids are an influence, but I am not blaming them. Riley needs to be held accountable for his own actions & that is what I am hoping for. Thanks for your input, I do appreciate it.

First, remember that you ARE a good mother. A bad mother wouldn't be feeling what you are right now. 4th grade is one of the tougher years, and you probably are being tested. It's important to stay firm and keep letting him know that you love him. This is one of those transitition times.

I agree with you that you need to find out the underlying reasons, though he may not really know himself or at least not be able to articulate the reasons. Could he be worrying about saying good-bye to his school and beginning a new one? Are these new friends that he is hanging around with or old ones that have also changed?

Punishments for my 8 and 10 year old start by decreasing bedtime by 1/2 hour per offense. That generally does the trick as they both hate going to bed. Step two is taking away all video games. That is a real killer for them. If those don't seem to work I explain that it is time to go to the doctors to see what is wrong. That one has never failed as they hate the thought of going to the doctors although they've never had a bad experience :rotfl2:. Perhaps discussing the issues and your expectations and explaining if the behavior continues he will need to talk to a professional. The threat may whip him back in line, if not be prepared to follow through.

Deb

Deb-

This jogged my memory...for Cassidy in the 4th grade we actually took her to the doctor because of her behavior....just to make sure it wasn't something physical...he told us to have her talk to the school counselor...that was the threat that helped her turn around....we switched schools at the end of the 4th grade year because of what she ended up telling us and what we observed shadowing her.

You guys are GREAT!
Thanks for the support!
My aunt will be in Cleveland tonight by 8pm if she doesn't get delayed in Cincinnati. He's been moved to a hospice floor in the hospital. From what I'm told, his room/private wing is actually like a mini apartment, it comes with a kitchenette and living area, which will be great for everyone that wants to be with him.

Cinderumbrella-I don't like hearing about snow in Chicago! It'll mean it'll be here tomorrow! :sad2:
Tink2020-Congrats Kyle and Jen! :Pinkbounc: It's great to see your still an Ohioian!

Wow that's a difference! Glad you got yours locked in at the lower price.

OMG - the return flight that I booked for our DDA trip is now $153. I paid $88!!!!

Riley has an older db that is 12. So unfortunatley that won't work. But I do agree that he needs to talk to someone beings he is not opening up to me.

sometimes kids feel liek they cant talk to grown ups. does your son have a sister or brother that he could maybe talk to.

11/26 (sunday after thanksgiving) to 12/3. Both legs of our flight are at $151 each (before fees)

OK I know I am quoting myself, but I wanted to double check those prices on UAL's site and it is now up to $348 and we got $262  Finally, I did something right!!

Just got a call from DH-there was a call from the school (caller ID) at 3:15 (school gets out at 3:05) but no message left. I left a message for the teacher to call me at work with work number. UGH.... I guess I'll have to send a note in with Lizzy with my work number. We asked Lizzy if Charlie bothered her today and she said yes but when asked what he did she said "I can't remember". First graders are so reliable. :confused3

Congrats, Kyle and Jennifer!!!!!!!!!!! And it'll be so much easier finding a nursing job in the same town that you graduate from. WTG!

where is everybody finding somewhat cheap airfare. the prices i see for my dec trip range from 330-430. i want nonstop b/c first time flying.

hey amy, could you do me a favor and take a picture of kilaminjaro safari vehicle for me. the place where the people in wheelchairs ride. that would be awsome. thanks

I am torn on this vacination...it hasn't been around long enough to prove that it provides life long immunity. The problem being if DD's are now of child bearing age and no longer have immunity and then get chicken pox..it can be devestating to the baby. Hard to say...

When we had Abi have the vaccination almost 8 years ago the doctors all said that more than likely it wouldn't be a life long vacc. and it would need a booster....it was so nice of her sister to get chicken pox so that could act as the booster shot. They did say that if somebody got chicken pox after having the vacc. it would more than likely be a milder case. Make sure boys get the chicken pox as boys.....hubby had them 2 weeks before we got married and we are blessed to have our 2 kids.....really messes with guys reproducing capabilities!!

Congratulations Jennifer & Kyle!!!!!!!!

Tinknme -- I don't really have any specific advice to add, other than to agree with others that you deserve credit for working hard to find out how to help Riley. My boss ignored the problem for too long -- mainly because she felt like he would settle down, but he didn't and she's had him in and out of treatment centers.

Good luck to you and Riley!

I am sorry but the kissing on the naked bottom made me giggle....probably wouldn't have if I was going through it. Here's :wizard: hoping that is quickly resolved
You didn't see where she was pointing. Where does a 6 year boy get that language? It really scared me. Especially when you do hear of "that" happening on the bus. Her school & bus is only K/1/2 so I didn't think I had to worry so soon.

Thanks Tia, I will check it out! My db called again last night wanting to know if I wanted to go. Boy he sure is making it tough for me lol I know in reality that it probably won't happen, but it doesn't hurt to check things out just in case :teeth:

Travelocity! I went to the advanced search and searched near "disney world" point of interest and put "disney" in the hotel name contains section. The hotels will come up without prices next to them, but with a box to check availability. Sometime when you click on that it will give you a price. If so, then you can try to book it through there. Sometimes they really aren't available, but you don't know that until you try to book and it doesn't go through. Also, someone else I know just today got something for April 11 on lastminutetravel.com. Another recommendation that I have had for the same situation is Frontier Airlines' website.

Yeah that would have me bothered as well. Hope you get all worked out :goodvibes

tinknme-don't have any advise-my oldest is 6. I'm dealing with some tricky "issues" myself. A boy in my DD's 1st grade has been kissing her in school and told her on the bus he wanted to kiss her naked bottom. I'm waiting for her teacher to call me back so we can discuss the situation. I wasn't prepared to deal with this in the first grade. I've never met his parents so I don't know how they would react if I called them.

Yikes!! Reading your response made my stomach churn! I am sorry!!
You would think the innonce would last longer. I am so so sorry.....hopefully this gets resolved faster....wish it wasn't happening at all.

Hey, Hunka? How are you doing? Sending you big hugs and PD. And, Marti, chick a lick was SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!

You all are a bad influence on me!! All this talk of Chik Fil A....I mentioned it to hubby and that's where we ended up for lunch!! 2 #5's and we were happy.....and of course the Disney Store is right across the hall from Chik Fil A so we went in there. A lot of plushes were on clearance for $5 so we got two for the girls for their Easter baskets.
