My db said I am welcome to ride with them, oh this is sooooooo tempting! So tell me how did you find a room? I guess I can keep hoping :goodvibes

Travelocity! I went to the advanced search and searched near "disney world" point of interest and put "disney" in the hotel name contains section. The hotels will come up without prices next to them, but with a box to check availability. Sometime when you click on that it will give you a price. If so, then you can try to book it through there. Sometimes they really aren't available, but you don't know that until you try to book and it doesn't go through. Also, someone else I know just today got something for April 11 on lastminutetravel.com. Another recommendation that I have had for the same situation is Frontier Airlines' website.

Ok, gotta go now. We came over my parents house until we go to the dinner, etc later and I said hi, gave hugs and went to the study to inform you all :teeth:

I really should visit though.

Thanks again :goodvibes

I'm determined not to gain as much weight as I did with Alyssa, but if I don't drop this coke/pepsi a day habit, it's going to be inevitable! ;)

Amy :)

Do you know what Paul either read or heard? That if you consume two twelve ounce cans of sugared soda (not diet) a day - that would be responsible for 36 pounds in one year!! At least I'm on diet, I drink more than two a day!

I've been mastering Brownies, with chocloate chunks and mashmallows (and all completely dairy free) but I did buy some proper cookie cutters in January so I may be brave and try and make some more of your cookies at Easter, I just need to find something to ice them with, after seeing how yours turned out at crimbo I really want to make some

Recipe please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yellowfish-prayers and :grouphug: for you and your family.

Congratulations!

Amy-I have purchased dark transfer sheets at Michaels and been happy with it-but I've never used any other brand of dark transfers to compare. Here's a link: Transfers

tinknme-don't have any advise-my oldest is 6. I'm dealing with some tricky "issues" myself. A boy in my DD's 1st grade has been kissing her in school and told her on the bus he wanted to kiss her naked bottom. I'm waiting for her teacher to call me back so we can discuss the situation. I wasn't prepared to deal with this in the first grade. I've never met his parents so I don't know how they would react if I called them.

Thank you, Amy.

Glynis, I believe it was you, that posted awhile back about the eggwash w/ food coloring glaze, that you put on cookies. Can you post it again?

If not Glynis, then whomever it was, will you please post it?

Sorry, it wasn't me. I don't really have the patience to glaze cookies. I usually just sprinkle mine with powdered jell-o. They taste really good that way. I think it was Elin that had the egg wash glaze. But I'm not sure.

ETA: I sprinkle the jell-o on the cookies before baking. That way the flavor bakes into the cookies.

I got a note from Nicholas' kindy teacher yesterday. There is a confirmed case of chicken pox in his classroom. Half of me hopes he gets them, just to get it done with and out of the way, the other half doesn't want to go through that. Hopefully that vaccination will either keep them away, or a lot milder than I remember mine being!

Tammi, I had the chicken pox when I was 3. My parents best friends were supposed to go to Jamaica and we were going to watch their 2 sons. They came down with chicken pox two days before the trip. My mom said "Send 'em over!" so we could pass it through our house. I don't remember much except one night my mom stuck me in the tub and dumpend a whole bottle of calomine lotion over my head and let it run all over me since I was covered in those itchy bumps!!

Does any one know what the vaccine is supposed to do? or is Tammi our guinea pig on it? :teeth:

Update on Grandpa-He had his surgery today. Well, sort of. They checked him out and decided that closing him back up right away would be the best decision. He's being admitted into hospice today. I'll be finding flights from San Diego for my aunt and uncle, I think they've decided on coming in this Saturday. I haven't been to the hospital yet (still debating on seeing him like this or remembering him sitting in his Lazy Boy chair eating his chocolate without nuts). From the family that is there now, he's ready to see his late wife and comfortable with the decisions that had to be made. Thanks for the prayers everyone! (It's odd knowing that this thread, only finding it a month ago, makes me feel better  The kindness of strangers is awesome!)

I am so sorry. We just went through this with DH's grandpa a few weeks ago so I know how hard the coming days will be. Just remember that we are here for you no matter what! :grouphug:

Kristin

Well, I've gotta run this afternoon. I get to go to my surgeon for my 4 month check up. 75 pounds down 25 to go! I am excited to see him!

Then I get to go to a department store and try on Crocs. If I like them (and if they are cheaper than on the web site), I'll be buying a pair. Most likely though, I'll be ordering them later on today.

I'll check back in later!

ACK! Soda pop is what I'm craving most right now, but I'm really trying my best to have only one a day. So, that's one a day, for nine months = 13.5 pounds!!! Thanks Marti!

I'll be SURE to tell you the next time I have Chick-fil-a NOW!!!! :teeth:

Hi, everyone. Prayers and PD to all who need it. :grouphug: pixiedust: Good luck today to Jennifer and Kyle!:cheer2: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Kids are sick, so I'm off to the doctor with them.

Trying to decide whether to switch to the CR for our Dec trip. Kids love the monorail and CM (and I secretly have always longed to stay there!). Having our agent check it now. :santa:

Oh, the kids got tested for Kindergarten Readiness and we had the meeting with the teachers yesterday. Davis and BK were way above average (yea!) and ready to go. Rees had trouble with the test (lots of fine motor skills on it), but is ready otherwise. Guess I'm sending my "babies" off into the real world this fall... :scared1:

Oh, and I love TURTLES, Amy! :teeth: And, Marti, I had Chick Fil A for lunch yesterday (they had it CATERED at school) and I'm taking the kids for lunch today. Oh, and I'm having it Saturday for breakfast! ::yes::  :woohoo: :cool1: :p

Denise- good luck with the kids!

I have to put my 2 cents in about the CR- GO FOR IT!!!!!! I love the Floridian, but there is something to be said for staying in a building with the monorail running through it. I know I posted this before, but DH got to do it when he was 10 and he still talks about how cool it was!!! If you can get the tower with the MK view- do it!!!!!!!!!

Kristin

PS: the picture made even me drool and I have never had chick fil a!

:grouphug: :grouphug: and some :wizard: that you will be able to find some reasonable flights for your aunt and uncle. Prayers as well for your whole family at this time. I am glad to hear that your grandfather is at peace with everything. I know how much it helped that mine was.

Congratulations on the weight loss!

But funny you should post about Crocs - when I went to grab something to eat, I stopped in at Dicks Sporting Goods to try on the Athens (flip flops) and the colors were: all black, white with tourquise or white with orange. I bought the all black ---- they are even more comfortable than the Croc shoes that I have!! I found the sizing a little weird; I normally take an 8, but I tried those on and was swimming in them. I tried on the 7, still too big! I tried on the 6 and they fit great! Just something to think of.

They're listed in the order we ranked them (sort of... some cities have more than 1 program, ie Chicago programs were #3, #6 and #10 overall)

We'd really be happy at any of the top 3 though, we really loved them! :goodvibes

I was working on catching up since everyone was so talkative last night and today and just noticed your new signature! Congratulations!!! I am so glad that you get to stay close to home and even more so that you got your first choice. That is so awesome!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

YUM!!! Oh wait, I'm headed to the mall and Chuck E Cheese on Saturday...that means I can have Chick Fil A for lunch!! (We don't actually eat at Chucks, just use the coupons for buy some get some free tokens. )

Congrats on the successful testing! I'm glad that the kids did so well and are set to go. I would be SO jealous of a Contemporary stay. I would love to stay there, but it is so far out of my value resort budget (unless I want to go less often, which of course I don't! :))

I have talked to one of the parents & she seems to be just as confused as me. I do constantly talk to Riley about his behavior & their have been consequences. He will do fine for a few days & then it's right back to where we started. Right now his phone privileges have been taken away(he loves talking on the phone) & he is grounded to the house. Do I need harsher punishments, I just don't know what I am missing. I know no one ever said parenting was easy, but right now I sure wish he had come with some instructions :teeth:

Punishments for my 8 and 10 year old start by decreasing bedtime by 1/2 hour per offense. That generally does the trick as they both hate going to bed. Step two is taking away all video games. That is a real killer for them. If those don't seem to work I explain that it is time to go to the doctors to see what is wrong. That one has never failed as they hate the thought of going to the doctors although they've never had a bad experience :rotfl2:. Perhaps discussing the issues and your expectations and explaining if the behavior continues he will need to talk to a professional. The threat may whip him back in line, if not be prepared to follow through.

I am torn on this vacination...it hasn't been around long enough to prove that it provides life long immunity. The problem being if DD's are now of child bearing age and no longer have immunity and then get chicken pox..it can be devestating to the baby. Hard to say...
