Would you guys mind adding my Mom to your list too (Dorothy). She was sick last spring with the flu and got weak and fell on April 2nd. She called a neighbor who called an ambulance and they brought her to a not so great hospital. That hospital thought she had an infection (they now say they were contaminating her blood when they took the samples) and they put her on a very strong antibiotic. She was already having problems with colitis and this antibiotic just destroyed her. She was there for 3 weeks and they only had her on IV fluids so she was very week but the time we fought with the insurance company and got her transfer to a great hospital where she had her gall bladder, colon, large intestine and piece of her small intestine removed. She was in intensive care for 6 weeks and most of the time we weren't sure she would make it. She was in rehab and a nursing home until Oct when she went home with 24hr care in her home. She was just starting to make good progress when she ended up back in the hospital on Christmas day. She's not dealing well with the colostomy, has been having memory issues, isn't eating well and won't participate in rehab. When I saw her 2 weeks ago she didn't even know who I was. Well now we find out she has a thyroid problem and the doctor thinks that could be a HUGE part of her memory and "attitude" problems. I saw her last weekend and she knew me right away and just seemed so much more in tune with reality. She's only got 45 more days of insurance and then we're not sure what to do. She may not be ready to go home but we don't want to sell her house and have her not be able to ever go home. She just turned 78 last week so she's still so young. Prayers for my Mom would be very appreciated and I can now see the power this group has.

As I told Kate..............."Consider it done  " !!!

Ask, and you shall receive. I hope you continue to see progress.

Just stopped by to catch up on the last few days. I have an assignment due next week so I've been studying hard. I took tonight off as I've been to London today and I'm tired out from the train journey!

I'll send congratulations to everyone having good things in their lives, and hugs to those who are in need of them.

See you all in a few days as I have to go back to the books tomorrow

Actually one thing before I go - Denise where did you get your ticker from? It takes up much less space than mine and I'm consious (sp) my posts are sometimes shorter than my sig!

I'll add your mom to my prayers too. It is so difficult dealing with insurance companies and it seems that we all end up in a battle with them over issues from time to time. I hope that they have found the true root of your mother's problem and that she will now benefit greatly from the new treatment. Hopefully she will make a miraculous recovery in the next 45 days.

Absolutely -- and prayers for you and the rest of the family, too, as you all work to help her through this.

Amy, you're not alone. I read the posts to Chris and he wants to know what dope everyone is smoking? He loves Disney as much as me (the kids do too) and we don't have a trip planned until July 2007. There is no way that he would agree to me going alone.... :guilty: :guilty: . Oh well, It will be fun to hear you all planning.

Deb

Tony (my DH) actually thought I was kidding when I mentioned it. And looked at me and said :sad2:

What a touching story, Mac. Little Mya sure has a lot of courage. Sometimes children can teach us the strongest lessons in life. I am so happy for all of you. I will pray right along with you that Mya continues to have the stamina to fight this battle and win. It's amazing what the power of prayer can do!

Keep us posted!

Mac -- I agree with Tammi (and by the way, Tammi, you said that so eloquently!). Mya is very courageous, and I think part of the reason she is like that is because of her home environment and how she is being raised. She obviously has great parents. Way to go Mya, and continued prayers for strength and courage.

UPDATE:

I have wonderful news about the little boy I asked you all to pray for last night

he is in a medically induced coma - he has a staph/strep b infection in his hip and appears to be responding to the medical treatment.

He is not out of the woods yet but our priest seems very optimistic and things definately look better than they did yesterday - at least now they know what they are dealing with

please continue to keep him in your prayers - I will let you know as I get more updates

Fantastic news!! pixiedust:

Well I know it's been awhile since I have been online, but I read quite often. I wanted to share what has happened in Mya's life this week.

Over the last few weeks, I had decided to get my life back in line spiritually and on Sunday evening said a prayer for my daughter to be healed, having faith in the Lord that if it was his will, then it would happen. (Been reading a bit of Luke). So with that being said I went to work on Monday. Well around noon I get a call from the wife. Mya has just gotten out of therapy and had decided to throw her crutches down and walk by herself approxamently 15 feet. This is a girl who had only taken TWO steps before by herself without falling.

She has continued on this pace and last night walked approxamently 20+ feet without falling 4 times!

She is not "cured" from cp, but mentally she has been strengthened to try and walk by herself and not "fear" falling down. Now when she falls, she's like "hold on I can do it." She will then craw to a wall raise herself up and proceed from there.

Thanks for letting me share my story.

She is also still working on potty training and still doesn't want to tell us when she needs to go, but is holding it most of the time until we take her. Just one or two accidents per day.
That is such an inspiration. Prayers and :wizard: for continued improvement.

What a miraculous turn of events, Mac. I am so happy for all of you. Don't worry about the potty training, it will come. If she's thinking so hard about walking now, she may not even be considering the bathroom.

You will have so much fun! I have only been once, but would love to go back.

Hi Glynis...

Thanks for asking! I am trying to deal with Bill's mother and it can be tough. Unfortunately a terrible accident several years ago wiped out all of their money. Now that he has died...SS and his pension are gone. Like Denise, I am stuck in the horrible world of medicade! But..one day at a time huh?

Kids are all doing well...

I just bought airlines tickets to Vegas to surprise Bill for our anniversary. I can't wait to see some sunshine!! :sunny: :sunny:

Kristine
:wizard: I hope things improve for your MIL and your family. Have a great anniversary trip. :goodvibes

Kate Im so happy to hear he is improving. Prayers to him & his family :goodvibes
