Kristin-forgot to congratulate you last night on your MacLaren purchase (and booking your trip!). I'm sure you'll love it! I have purchased from Albee twice and had great service from them both times.

I actually don't have any kids. I'm not a Mom, yet so I don't have that full time job in addition to everything else. If I did I probably wouldn't be standing at all. Although for awhile I felt like I was raising my cousins. Run them here, run them there, watch them, bath them, feed them, etc., etc.

Don't feel bad Lynn. I'm used to people thinking I have kids. People think I have kids of my own quite often. Especially at Girl Scout events if they don't know me. They ask which is your daughter and I say none of them, but they are all my girls or all of them. From time to time the girls call me Mom. Better yet is when they ask my Mother and she says the one over there leading the troop or in charge of the wokshop or whatever. But it is common in our service unit to not have a daughter in your troop.

You gotta have a sense of humor, because most people assume you are there for your daughter. I just love giving back and being there for the girls whose Mom's aren't willing to lead the troop. I think it is a great program and have been involved since I was a brownie. Although sadly I am giving up the troop at the end of the year because I don't get enough parent help and can't do it on my own or with the help of my Mom (she is over involved as well.) I still hope to help just not with a weekly troop.

Becky

You are very devoted to Girl Scouts by doing all you do and not even having a daughter participating. It is a shame that you don't have more parents helping you with your troop. Everytime you talked about Scouts I just assumed it was with your daughter. I hope the rest of the school year will be easy on you while you get thru your changes at your jobs.

Morning everyone.
Just wanted to say thanks for all of Ramiro Birthday wishes.
The 2 of us went out to "Old Spaghetti Factory".
We had a great time.

Until we got home.
Garage door spring has broken.
Door wouldn't open & had to park in the driveway.
Looks like we are going to have to spend some $ on this repair.
XDH & myself have never ever worked on this.
Oh well!

Ok, here goes. "Grab shell, Dude." I feel like I'm in that scene in Finding Nemo where Marlin & Dory are facing the swirling vortex of terror? Squirt says, "Good afternoon, we're gonna have a great jump today! Okay, crank a hard cutback as you hit the wall! There's a screaming bottom turn, so watch out! Remember: rip it, roll it and punch it!"
But anyway, I'm doing it. I'm finally jumping in on this thread. It's kind of intimidating. lol.
I've posted on this board a bunch. I've posted on this thread once. Tonight, I'll be up a while. Here I am, doing my final postings for the night and I hear the washing machine make a funny noise. I go over there and it's not spinning, it's not agitating. I had to (with help of DH) ring out the entire load and am running them in the dryer in thirds with dry towels. ARGH! Call the repair man tomorrow. So, anyway, I'm up and here I am.

I'm so glad that you are jumping in! We love to see new faces around here, especially when they show darling pictures in the siggy! Your family is beautiful!

I'm sorry about your washing machine. We are having problems with our plumbing! Every time someone flushes, the whole system just groans. I need to call my brother, it's nice to have a plumber in the family! Hopefully, the repairman will be able to help!

Come back often! Let us know about your family, etc. After all, you are one of us, now!

Happy Birthday, Ramiro! And, Jo, I love the new tatoo. It turned out great.

Just popped in to say hi. Hope everyone is doing well. If something big happens I should know about, could someone PM me? Anyway, hope everyone's ok. Hugs to you all.

Thanks for this Kate!!! For Christmas presents for my grandkids and neices/nephews I am giving them all a personalized name shirt w/ characters and a scrapbook for them to take on our family trip Jan 07. I was trying to think of a cover and this works great.

Denise - Good to hear from you. Hope things are going ok for your family! I don't think you've missed anything too big, yet. We're all placing bets on Dawn's baby. So far the princesses are winning!

Sending you more :grouphug: for your family!

Denise - I hope all is going well!!! How is Rees feeling since his surgery - Julia was asking about BK the other day!!

Lynn - if you need me to customize let me know!!

Did anyone else see that Dana Reeves (christopher reeves' widow) died of lung cancer yesterday

that just breaks my heart - she devoted her life to him and then right after he died she was diagnosed with lung cancer -

I can't stop thinking about their little boy - he is 12 - I just can't imagine that he might not be a very troubled teenager with little hope in life - he watched both of parents suffer so much before they died. I hope that he has a very strong support system!!

What he is going through sure makes my troubles seem petty!!

Hi, Kate.

I didn't post an update as I don't want to always be a downer, but, no, life is not good right now. Rees' surgery went well, but I am having a rough time with all his new diagnosis. We had a bad meeting with his specialist on Thursday, and she suggested he may be even further up the Autism spectrum. He is doing better with the anxiety. He starts his evals on Friday for Special Ed in Kindergarten. The team suggested a self-contained room instead of mainstream, so I am devestated. I don't feel that is appropriate for Rees, so it's off to battle again. Still waiting on a court date for the Medicaid, and he wasn't invited to 2 b'day parties this weekend. It's been tough.

We find out today if my grandmother has breast cancer (the biopsy was yesterday). Her sister had it 2 years ago. John's had the real flu for 8 days now (fever of 102 even with meds), and I've made myself sick with all this worry and am having terrible stomach issues. Oh, and the topper is DH works for BellSouth and they announced yesterday that ATT is buying them, so now that's a whole new set of crud.

Brantley-Kate and Davis are doing well. The boys start Karate on Thursday.

Thanks for asking, but I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear!

Denise

Am I overreacting to this - or would this bother you too?

This happened over a week ago and I really can't get it out of my head

Julia and I pulled in our neighborhood behind the school bus - a woman I know was waiting in her minivan for the bus to pick up her kindergartner

her van door was open and he hopped in the van - the van was facing towards the direction of her house and she had to drive about 10 houses to get home - the door to her van was not closed and her son stood behind her holding on to her headrest and she started to drive home - they went about one house and he saw some of his friends walking and he leaned out the car door to yell at them and talk to them - and SHE KEPT DRIVING!!!!

I came home and Julia kept asking me "why would she let him do that - doesn't she want him to be safe?" when DH got home she told him that she had something very bad to tell him - and told him the story

I can see her not making him buckle up for the short drive home - but not closing the door -

Steve and I have already made the decision that our children will not be allowed with this family alone again - but I just wonder if this is something she does all the time - what if he fell out and under the car?!? I just can't get it out of my head

so tell me - what do you all think of this?

Kate, is that the complete list of characters or only the ones Julia was interested in?
