Thank you Glynis!! And I was only 9 in 1972 -- I wasn't exactly ancient!

I was 10 almost 11 in 1972 (my birthday is at the end of the year). Does that help?!

Thanks for your thoughts. It looked just perfect for a day at the parks. I made water bottle holders for all my kids since I no longer want to play Gunga Din for them. That has cut down considerably on all the weight in the bag I carry. Next trip, they are each going to have their own fanny packs to carry their own money, autograph stuff, etc. That means a smaller bag for me! I figure Kate's looks perfect for the baggies of dry clothes, wallet for DH, sunglasses, radios, and camera that I will carry. Kate you can count on me for an order if you ever decide to go into business!

That is so funny that you also carry your DH's wallet! When I explained & showed my DH the bag that Kate made last night, he said "Did you tell her to make sure there is a pocket for your DH's stuff so that it doesn't get mixed up with everything else?" :rotfl: That is our running joke. For some reason I end up with his stuff when we are at Disney.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so many pages to catch up on, after it had been so quiet for awhile. It looks like the surprise mini-meet was a huge success. The kids are all so cute! And it looks like everyone had a good time.

Marti, Happy Special Birthday! And as you know I am only 1 day younger than you, so I will certainly stick up for you against all those other "youngsters" that are picking on you.

Also, if anyone is doing any meets in the Rochester area, let me know. I am only about 25 miles from Marti and Skunka (AKA Uncle Paul).

Kate, The bag looks awesome, the only problem I have with bags that go across my front is that they cover up my homemade personallized t-shirts! I bought a bag called a bagallini sling messenger bag (link: http://www.ebags.com/baggallini/mes..._nylon/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=18644) for our last trip, and I liked it a lot, but the strap tended to cover up my t-shirt. Nonetheless, I like bags where I can access everything in the front, rather than a backpack, so your bag would be perfect for me.

Glynis, We will be in Utah in April, at Bryce from April 19 - 21 and Zion April 21-22. It's still quite a distance from you though. Let me know if you think we can work anything out.

Clare, As far as jobs, I am a Process Engineer at Eastman Kodak Company, (which I better get back to!)

It's nice to see the boards so lively again.

Deb - did we ever tell you our maple syrup story? Apparently somebody told us that maple syrup keeps best in the freezer - so we promptly put ours in there. Paul told me that it had frozen, and I said NO WAY! He proceeds to turn over the entire bottle in the kitchen, and or course, since it doesn't freeze, we now have maple syrup all over the kitchen floor. We hadn't laughed like that in such a long time.

OMG what a mess! I'm laughing just thinking about it. Way to go Paul :rotfl:

We'll just have to ask Kate to make a plain bag for us so that we can put on a custom design on the bag. We might just need a bag for each day so that it can match the rest of our families t-shirts! :rotfl:

I mapquested North Hartland, VT and you're 157 miles, 2 hours 56 min from me. Of course if I told my DH I wanted to go visit someone I met on the net he'd probably want to take my computer away. :teeth: He does love sugar houses though.....

Loved your potty story. My DD(turned 3 in Jan) was all potty trained for about a month last summer with very few accidents UNTIL...her older sister asked her if she was afraid she'd get flushed down the potty. The first days after that were really rough-poor kid wouldn't go near the bathroom or the potty chair outside the bathroom and didn't want to use a diaper. Now she'll use the potty but still wants to wear a pull up all the time. I'm thinking it will be easier to get back on track when its warmer. She needs to be potty trained for preschool in September. Once she decides she wants to wear panties again I know it will be very quick. I think she just wants undies with a "pocket" like her brothers. :rotfl2: When I asked her on her 3rd birthday how old she was she said "ummm....I'm almost a boy now".

:rotfl: :rotfl: Isn't it funny what they come up with. Where in Mass are you. Maybe we can plan a shopping trip somewher in between. I'm going to Manchester, NH tomorrow for lunch. My boys are itching to get to Chucky Cheese with their report cards. That is the closest one to us. So I'm driving 1 1/4 hrs for Chucky Cheese. I guess that isn't as bad as 10 hours for Chick -Fil -A :rotfl2: Any nice campgrounds around you. We are still planning our summer camping trips.

Wow - I never knew anyone who made maple syrup before - cool.

Which made me think actually, a lot of people talk about going to work or DISing while at work, but I don't think I have any idea what most of you do! Anyone want to share?

I am a SAHM first and foremost. I also take care of my nephew 4 days a week and my neice after school on those days. I work part time at a local restaurant doing whatever they need. I usually hostess on Thursday nights and work in the bar on the weekend nights. This works well as DH is home with the boys and he gets some quality time and I get away time. My family does the sugaring in the Spring. We usually have about 4 weeks where we are really busy from 4 PM - Midnight. The sap runs during the warmth of the day so we gather the sap in late afternoon and boil until it's all done. Next day we repeat. There are some days when the sap doesn't run. It needs to be very cold (teens) at night and very warm during the day to run. In my free time I am a Cub Scout leader to 2 dens for my boys. That pretty much sums up my "work".

Hey dudes, what's going down in groove town?

Things are a bit hectic at work, and we've just come back from a few days in Belgium over half-term, so please excuse me from reading everything!

Hottest gossip only please! And any answers as to why I've stopped receiving notificastions from almost all threads (except "Fantasmic Dinner package changes", strangely!)

Missed you all :teeth:

I watched that on Saturday. That is what made me crave the Penne Alla Vodka. That one girls wedding was over the top (70,000). And they looked like the were only 22 or so. Mom and Dad must be soaking rich. I bet the don't go all out like that for her second wedding.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

That reminds me of a story. We had a couple of friends in high school that got married while in college. Her parents were well off, but not stinking rich. They gave her a very expensive wedding. She wore her grandmothers dress for the wedding. It was beautiful. After the wedding they had drinks and appitizers while they did their first set of photos and then she changed into her wedding gown. Yep, it was a full wedding gown with a train and everything. Then they had a second set of photos. I think we waited 3 hours at the pre reception. We were then moved to the Reception Hall for a 5 course meal they had a band there. I think they spent over $10000 for flowers for the festivities. They also had a couple of limos for the attendants. It was very elaborate, but to be honest it was way too long and I've been to smaller weddings that were much nicer. Anyway they went back to college. They wanted a child and couldn't conceive. She ended up getting a job at McDonald's to help make ends meet while finishing school. She fell in love with her manager at McDonald's and left her husband for him. Since they couldn't both work at McDonald's she got done and became.....drum roll please.... A topless waitress at a bar in Oklahoma. Needless to say her parents were not impressed and there was no elaborate second wedding. The guy she left her husband for already had small children so she got the "family" that she wanted. Her x-husband has finally met a nice woman and remarried in a normal wedding for our area. He now has 2 beautiful little girls and is very happy. I have no idea where she is now. It would be interesting to find out though. She never did finish college (that I know of)

I was thinking the same thing. After that long drive and now all they are doing is giving you grief.

I would like to proudly say that I was born in 1966!!!! And very proud of it. It takes special people to be in the "40+ club"!!!!

Lynn

Ok, I'll share, I was born in 1969. I don't know what all the complaining was about. The mid thirties have been good to me. :lmao:

I second that! By the way, what is a Special Birthday?

Thanks everybody for the well wishes -- a special birthday is a made up day from my family. I was adopted at three weeks old and my family celebrates that day. It is more important than the day that I turn another year older to our family - but the rest of the world celebrates the day I turn a year older in January. Paul has done a wonderful job of keeping up the tradition after my mom died. The kids in school were always jealous, I had two birthdays and they only had one.

Kate, I love the bag! Are there any separate pockets on the inside, too. I really like the cellphone/fastpass holder, and the strap for the pins was ingenious. I would have never thought of that.
there isn't but I would certainly be happy to add some custom features!!! (well within reason!!!)

Wow! A size 8! That's wonderful!

I just found out I fit in a size 12. I haven't been a size 12 in almost 15 years! Talk about a good feeling!

A size 12 is a great size.
Hang in there girl.
Your doing great.

My weight loss isn't due to me wanting to lose.
I have tummy problems.
Can't eat much of anything.
If I do, I get very sick.

At 1 time I was a size 18.
See I think I look like a twig.
No B**** & no B**. :rotfl2:

I thought that might be what it was. When my family adopted my brother (he was 9 and I was 20), my mom & dad sent out "birth" announcements. We wanted him to feel that we were celebrating just like if he had been born into our family.

Happy Special Birthday to a very special person!!!!!
