Oh, you are such a youngin'.
Even I know who Carnac the Magnificent is! :rotfl:

KMH1-Turtles are the best! I can't remember when my grandma used to make them for Christmas gifts...she used to make them by boiling a can of sweetened condensed milk to make caramel (either that or evaporated, I can't remember...I think it has to be sweetened!)

Jen-Good luck on Match Day! Do you have a preference on which city? Got a BIG variety listed!

Tammi-I got the chicken pox in 5th grade. I hope he does get them too, just to get it over and done with for your sake!

Kate-Thanks for the info about Davids and the dress...I was gonna ask them if they would "know" if it was discounted so I wouldn't have to buy it now. Takes a weight off my shoulder! (I'm still trying it on though!)

OH and UP Disney -

singing from that person has been less than impressive!!! Taylor and Chris are my new favorites

but as you can see from my previous post - they could send them all home and start over in my opinion - I called Carrie in her first audition - no one has really just struck me this year!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it keeps surprising me that the judges would say it is the best talent ever. They sure didn't show it Tuesday night. Though, it did improve as the night went on.

Taylor is my DD's favorite as well. I don't have all their names yet (though we have watched every week except last week while we were at Disney). I'll have to look on the web to see which one is Chris.

TOO funny with the name issue. I have this dilemma all the time. I blame it partially on my parents and but for the most part on my Kindergarten teacher. He had a rule that you had to write your given birth first name on papers. Therefore I had to write Rebecca. Even though I had to write Rebecca on papers he would call us by whatever nickname we wanted to go by. So he called me by Becky because that is what my parents called me.

My parents named me Rebecca but always call me Becky even if they are mad at me. My Grandma on the other hand always calls me Rebecca Ann, no matter what, never Becky, never Rebecca.

To this day I almost always write Rebecca, on the Dis and email with friends I have started using Becky. In college people would see my name on things as Rebecca and not know who it was. Never thought about my name being Rebecca. Hence starting to sign emails and things with Becky

Just a little muse on my name conflict. Thought I would share since I share the same name as your daughter. Sometimes I think the name conflict is the Gemini coming out in me and the twins not being able to make up their mind

Becky

We had a similar situation with our oldest - Katrina or Katie. We always called her Katie. She got to Kindergarten and there was another Katie. So the teacher asked her if she minded being Katrina to avoid confusion. She said ok so we had to teach her to write Katrina. Mind you she was the youngest in the class - started K at 4 at the recommendation of her preschool teacher. I was upset but never told her or the teacher. Why couldn't the older little girl be Katrina. Well, come to find out, the other little girls real name was Katie.

This only started our saga. She stayed Katrina in school because she went to a small school with only one class per grade. So... all her friends called her Katrina & her family called her Katie. When we moved, the teacher in her new school asked her what she wanted to be called. She said Katie - for a little while and then switched back to Katrina. So then her close friends called her Katie, her teachers & new friends called her Katrina and her family calls her Katie.

Then I become a Girl Scout leader. Yep, you guessed it. There is another Katie in the troop so I ask my Katie if she minds being called Katrina. No problem. So she is Katrina at Girl Scouts (including camp) and Katie at home.

At her graduation, her uncle heard others calling her Katrina. He was surprised and asked her if she preferred that. She told him no. Katie was what family should call her!!! In college, she is still Katrina.

I only heard my real name Victoria when my mother was mad (& 3rd grade when I went through a stage and wanted my teacher to call me that) until one of my older staff decided he liked Victoria. He refused to call me Vicki. He has since retired so I'm back to just plain Vicki.

The suggestion to start mailing out my cookies reminds me of my favorite movie The Breakfast Club. John Bender says to Principal Vernon, "Hey, how come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up, it'll be anarchy." Since I can't afford to mail my cookies to everyone on the DDA, I won't mail them to anyone (except Dawn, but those were special circumstances :p ).

Amy :)

Oh, I thought that was a refillable container. When I ran out, I'd mail it back to you and you'd fill it up again :confused3 ;)

:thumbsup2 Amy's cookies are THE BEST!!!!!!!

They were all rolled to exactly the same thickness, perfectly cut, perfectly browned and tasted yummy! Everyone at the party thought I had bought them at a bakery because they were so perfect.

Kate, I pirated 3 of my "own" cookies and hid them in my car so I could have them for breakfast one morning when I had to go shopping :)

I have her recipe and I plan to try it, but after having hers I have a lot to live up to!

Thanks again Amy :goodvibes

Update on Grandpa-He had his surgery today. Well, sort of. They checked him out and decided that closing him back up right away would be the best decision. He's being admitted into hospice today. I'll be finding flights from San Diego for my aunt and uncle, I think they've decided on coming in this Saturday. I haven't been to the hospital yet (still debating on seeing him like this or remembering him sitting in his Lazy Boy chair eating his chocolate without nuts). From the family that is there now, he's ready to see his late wife and comfortable with the decisions that had to be made. Thanks for the prayers everyone! (It's odd knowing that this thread, only finding it a month ago, makes me feel better  The kindness of strangers is awesome!)

They're listed in the order we ranked them (sort of... some cities have more than 1 program, ie Chicago programs were #3, #6 and #10 overall)

We'd really be happy at any of the top 3 though, we really loved them! :goodvibes

:grouphug: I'm sorry to hear that news. It's always hard, even if our loved ones are ready to go. Whatever you decide to do, you all will be in my prayers for peace during this time. :grouphug:

Prayers to you and your family. I'm sure that this is a very difficult time for everyone. I hope you can find comfort in the fact that he has accepted this. :grouphug:

I think Alyssa and I will go to Chick-fil-a for lunch tomorrow...

Amy :)

Hey ! Who's side are you on?????

That would just be wrong! I do have a few morals, Marti! :teeth:

And, who the heck is Carnac the Magnificent? Is this a reference I just don't get, cause you're a little older than me? ;)

I'm really going to bed now, although Matthew is wide awake and doing his nightly flips. :goodvibes
Amy :)

Oooh! I know who Carnac the Magnificent is! But we already knew I was part of the "old" crowd.

Please tell me you at least know who Johnny Carson was right?
Marti, I know who Carnac was. I'm sure Amy didn't know him because he was never featured in Entertainment Weekly ;)

Yellowfish - your Grandpa, you and your family are in my prayers :grouphug:

Kristine, Kate, Kc10Family, babytrees - hope the DDA kids are all better today

Babytrees - Good news about your mom. I hope they find the problem soon!

Hi, everyone. Prayers and PD to all who need it. :grouphug: pixiedust: Good luck today to Jennifer and Kyle!:cheer2: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Kids are sick, so I'm off to the doctor with them.

Trying to decide whether to switch to the CR for our Dec trip. Kids love the monorail and CM (and I secretly have always longed to stay there!). Having our agent check it now. :santa:

Oh, the kids got tested for Kindergarten Readiness and we had the meeting with the teachers yesterday. Davis and BK were way above average (yea!) and ready to go. Rees had trouble with the test (lots of fine motor skills on it), but is ready otherwise. Guess I'm sending my "babies" off into the real world this fall... :scared1:

Oh, and I love TURTLES, Amy! :teeth: And, Marti, I had Chick Fil A for lunch yesterday (they had it CATERED at school) and I'm taking the kids for lunch today. Oh, and I'm having it Saturday for breakfast! ::yes::  :woohoo: :cool1: :p
