quote from Yellowfish:
Now for an update about Grandpa:
He had emergency dialisis today because of the kidney failure. Goes into surgery tomorrow at 6:30am to remove some blockage in the ureters (sp? It's the tubes between the kidney and the bladder..) Both are blocked due to the cancer he has. Depending on how well he handles being under, they want to remove at least one blockage, if not all three, and then try to remove some of the cancer to decrease the pressure. Now we just wait.

I am so sorry!! Is the 6:30 East Coast time? I may be up 6:30 mountain or western time but definitely not east coast....I like to pray not only now when I read the problem but a specific prayer at the time. Helps me give direction to my prayer!!

So prayers and pixie dust coming that way!!

Prayers now and tomorrow for everyone in your family.

Becky agrees with the ToT. She was terrified!!! She cried the whole time and couldn't stop. When we got off, she couldn't understand why she lost it but she sure did!!!! I'm not sure what I think about it because I spent the whole time comforting her. Didn't really have a chance to worry about the actual ride.

This trip we tried a hint we found on this board about ginger tablets for motion sickness. I used to be able to do all kinds of rides but as I'm getting older, I can't handle alot of motion anymore. The ginger tablets did the trick. One in the morning and one at night starting the day before we left. I was fine until I did Expedition Everest (What a fantastic coaster!) a second time in less than 15 minutes from the first time. I decided I'd wait until next year to try out RnR after that.

My DH has always had motion sickness and never rode coasters in his life. He rode all three mountains and didn't have any trouble. We will be recommending the ginger tablets to others. Dramamine always made him drowsy so he didn't like to take them.

So, can I get the ginger tablets in a drugstore? My oldest, Katie, gets motion sick if I mention we're going somewhere in the car. We always have to take along an old, plastic ice cream bucket. I'd love to be able to have some of these on hand for her.

Sending pixiedust: and :grouphug: to everyone that might need one! Thank goodness the week is almost over!!!

I'll keep your grandpa in my prayers. Has he had his prostate removed? Both my dad and DH's dad went through prostate cancer. Neither of them ever went to the doctor for a test. I told DH I'd make him a deal; when I turn 40 I'll get a mammogram if he'll get a prostate screening. Not too surprisingly, given what our father's went through, he agreed in a heartbeat!

Olympia is North of Route 104, Ridge Rd. West. I would get off there (104) headed west, take the next right heading north on Fetzner Rd. The next traffic light will be Maiden Lane, turn right. Greece Olympia High School will be on your right soon after.

By the way, my son is a senior at Greece Athena High School, home of the now famous J-Mac. Thought you all might like to know.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program....

I feel like Glynis and Tink2020; I have to go and study now! (there's a phrase that I haven't used in nearly 20 years!)

And that's a quote I should be using at this very moment! However, I need to catch up with my "family" first, right? Homework later, you guys, now!

Congrats on having such a great hubby! Alan used to do all that until he started working later. Now meals are all up to me except on the weekend. Then I will gladly step aside to let DH shine!

They are just ginger root tablets and I got them at WalMart or our local grocery store with the all natural products (I can't remember where I ended up buying them but had checked both locations). The posts that I read said anything with real ginger - ginger snaps were mentioned as well. It works best if you start the day before so it is in the system. They are all natural. I've heard that MythBusters did a show on different motion sickness meds and ginger did the best. I didn't see the show myself so haven't been able to verify. All I know is that for the first time, my DH went on rides with me and I was able to enjoy lots of rides without feeling a little queasy.

Out of curiosity I checked room availability & the only place that showed rooms was AKL. I definetly can't afford that :( Thanks for the hug, I feel a little better now :goodvibes

Are you sure you can't make it? Even for a bit of it? Here's a :grouphug: in the meantime!

I'm sorry I must be out of the hip loop on this one (and every one for that matter :rotfl2: ) but who is J-Mac?

Babytrees-East coast time.
Glynis-Nothing has been removed yet. The doctors are hoping that if the blockages can be removed tomorrow in a relatively good time that they can remove some to relieve the pressure that they think is the cause of the blockage. (Boy I hope that makes sense..)

Here is a link to a thread that does include a link to video - you all should watch it - amazing!!!!

Hey, that's a good idea, Marti. I bet it would look really cool.
