Thanks! Now its a tie between the 3.

I am not sure if there is a pc at the BC but we did bring our laptop that we used in the room. I believe it was $10 per 24 hours of internet use.

I also like the photo of the kids with Pluto the best, Anne Marie. They look like themselves in that one... not all pirated and princessed up. ;)

I don't know if there is a business center at the BC, but I am pretty sure there is one at the Yacht Club. There would be computers there but if memory serves me... it is a pretty far walk!

My kids have off today & tomorrow for Rosh Hashana....

they have been fighting since they got up, then playing nicely:angel: , then fighting:mad: . Since I am an only child I do get all this. I guess it normal but it drives me crazy. They fight over such stupid stuff too.

Sounds like Garrett & Riley

I will be going to the Post Office today, how long was the pin sale for?

Its funny, Bernadette mentioned in one of hers posts that she didn't like the heat or crowds in August. Me neither!!!! Last year the weather was hot but managable. This year it was soooo hot & so crowded. We are tied to the kids school schedule right now so our options for a family trip are limited.
So heres what I have been thinking & please give me your honest opinions. Next year, Rosh Hashana starts on September 30. We get 2 days for the observance so my kids would have off 9/30-10/1. (Thats a Tues & Wed). I am thinking about taking them out from September 27 - October 5. We would be able to go to MNSSHP which my kids love & hopefully avoid some of the crowds. My dilemma is that they would miss 3 days of school. (mon, thurs, fri). This week is very light as far as work due to the holiday & there are usually only quizzes (no tests) if that. I am not so worried about Sophie or Daniel, just Katie. She will be in 7th grade (her 1st year in middle school). Not sure if 3 days is o.k. or would it put her behind? She's an A student but I don't want to mess up anything with her school. (also we can't tell the teacher that we are going on vacation, we have to call in sick, which makes me sick.) Thanks

It's very normal :rotfl: Just remember that they won't be little forever. That's my thinking when I'd like to tape them all to chairs :rotfl:

I forgot to mention that Nick and Hunter had their yearly check ups and they are both A Okay. Nick could stand to drop 10 lbs, but otherwise no issues at all. He even had them bickering in his office over who had to go first. He made them draw straws. Then he asked them question which he knew would have them pointing fingers at each other. Our Pediatrician is retiring in Jan. We will miss him so much. He had 3 boys of his own and he knew Chris growing up so he has been very in tune with our lifestyle and parenting needs. He will be so hard to replace :sad1:

Good morning all! I only have about an hour left until they cut our power for the day (well 6 hours of it). Apparently they are doing line work in our neighborhood today and will shut the electric off at 9. At least we got a few days of warning. Now to just figure out what to do with Terra while we wait.

Heidi - I may not have my Christmas cards done yet, but I was looking at them the other day. Just trying to decide what stamps to buy to make them. I do however have Terra's Halloween costume about half done. I've got to alter her sheet and make the trick or treat bag, but her shirt is done and looks so cute! (If I do say so myself. )

Anne Marie - I really like the close up of the kids. Really shows them off and is a great pose.

Elizabeth - Sorry about all of the dentist visits. I need some of those myself, but am not looking forward to it. Hope the new crown solves things! Loads of :wizard: for DS and school. Rachel has a brand new math cirriculum that is really wierd. Even the teacher isn't a big fan (very nice woman who even called Mom on a Saturday after Mom had emailed her about Rachel's concern that she was behind everyone in her class). The oddest part is that they are supposed to START on chapter 5 for some reason. Math has definitely been the hardest part around here every night. Even though she hasn't had more than 10 questions on any one night and usually only 4-5 we still spend 30-45 minutes or more on it every night with Mom or me helping on at least half of the problems.

Tammi - :wizard: for Alyssa that she has another good day today. Good luck with your decisions about treatment.

Tom - Good luck with your to do list. I'm sure the costumes will come together well for you as you are getting to be a regular pro. I was just making a list of sewing projects I need to do soon. Luckily, none are too hard so the fact that there are about 7 of them isn't too daunting.

Terry - Happy birthday to Hal!

Glynis - Hope you have a good trip. Enjoy the wedding!!

Everyone else - :wave1: Sorry if I missed anything. I still feel a little behind.

Hate to post and run, but I read so long that I only have 30 minutes until lights out. Guess I had better get things shut down and my dad's lunch made.

We've gone during October when the kids only missed 2 1/2 days. It was still hot and crowded, but we had fun. I think it would be hard to do now as Nick would miss a lot and he is only in 6th grade. I'm sure that he could catch up, but I bet his grades would be lower for the quarter.

When I mentioned their annual checkups I forgot to mention that Nick had 2 shots. One for Tetnus and one for meningitis. Apparently the shot that they used to give kids heading off to college is now being administered at age 12 to make sure that they all get it. Well he woke up this morning with a tummy ache so he is home. I'm keeping an eye on him as I'm not sure how he will react to that shot.

And finally, this is my notice....We will be gone the 24-29. Phil is going to CA to be his dad's caretaker for a couple of weeks when he is released from the rehab hospital this weekend. FIL is doing really well, but just wanted Phil to come out rather than have a homenurse or someone come in. They offered to just give us the money instead to make up for the couple of weeks off of work. Considering some of the past between Phil and his family, I really feel good about him doing this. The last several years have mended a lot of wounds, but I think the last month has healed many more for both Phil and the rest.

Terra and I are going to go out for a little bit of it as well to visit our best friends, the family and, of course.....our pal Mickey!! Now to just figure out how many days we want to go to the park and talk to my friend about getting us in. I'm thinking 2 days this time since we always seem to be a little rushed to get through what we want. Plus, if we go on Friday, I can finally see the fireworks! I have missed them every time for the last 3 visits due to scheduling or fog.

Uh oh, I wonder if Rachel will have to have that one next year? She was not happy to find out that she had to get one this year as they up moved up the booster for whooping cough around here. She thought that she was free and clear for shots this time.

Hope he is feeling better & there is no reaction.

Thanks for the input on school. We did October 2005 & MNSSHP. That was such a fun trip. The kids missed 3 days during Columbus week but Katie was in 4th grade at the time. It had no impact on her school work. However 7th grade is very different.

Kaelyn just had her sports physical yesterday and had to get a booster for tetanus.

Okay Stephanie, When would you have time to be on the computer when we will be in the parks from dawn to dawn :lmao: :lmao:

Seriously, we get back to the room after being out all day, the only thing we would be doing is getting out of sweaty clothes and showering and going to sleep. No computer time there!!!

I know you are tied to that thing, but for six days you can let it go:rotfl:

Anne Marie I love going in Oct. & that is usually the time I take the boys out of school. Your plan sounds good to me, it is just sad that you have to say they are sick. I am happy that our schools are a little more lenient on taking vacations during school. Now once Garrett gets into high school, it might be a different story. If Katie does well in school & will not feel like she is under pressure to get caught up, I say go for it. But only you can make that decision & I am sure your heart will help you :goodvibes

I do not forsee us taking any Aug. trips, it is just to hot for me. I did enjoy our trip in June. So that is another option for us if our schools get more strict or the school work gets to be to much.

Good luck with your decision!

Hmm. That means Brother & Sister are out, too. I wonder who is watching them?
I guess that's the nice thing about DS and Princess being "only" children. Unless they are together there's nobody to fight with! And the 2 of them don't fight. Brother & Sister & DS could make me nuts in about 15 minutes!

It WAS hotter this year. I never notice crowds one way or another so that part was fine. I am taking DS out for 2 days in December and I will use my famous "family emergency" excuse. They can mark it unexcused if they want. I am already very, very tired of middle school. I may have to start thinking about transferring DS. If you travel in the week with Rosh Hashana and the workload will be light anyway you will probably be fine.

I like all of your golf photos! I think the boys have such nice personalities that show through in the pics - not necessarily "Christmas-y", just nice pics. I don't think the photo on your cards really has to look like Christmas.
Glad the check-ups went well! Good luck with the new Dr!

They are clearanced until they are gone. Good luck pin hunting

DS said my mom called last night and said there are no pins in Topeka. Hopefully the rest of you guys will have better luck! Darlene and Nena are sold out of pins right now, so I really have no clue where I will get our next batch of traders.

Good morning, DDA!!

Hi, Kelli!!

Uh oh, I wonder if Rachel will have to have that one next year? She was not happy to find out that she had to get one this year as they up moved up the booster for whooping cough around here. She thought that she was free and clear for shots this time.

They gave us a choice of the meningitis now or next year. Same with tetanus.

Glynis - Have fun at the wedding!

Lidsay & Jennifer - Have magical trips!!:wizard:

My mail lady just came & guess what.........

I HAVE MY ME TAGS :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo:

Thanks Chanon, now the trip seems even more real & my day is happier now!

Good morning, friends! I am who knows how far behind so I'm just going to jump back in. Sorry for the long absence. We finally got ready for company Labor Day weekend and then I spent last week trying to get myself back into some kind of routine. It has worked well so far (knock on wood!) and the house is continuing to look really nice and clean. I still have a little finish up work to do on the playroom still (mainly sorting craft supplies), but we're finally getting there.

Not much other news around here. Phil got back from CA on Labor Day and his dad is doing MUCH better. He has another week or so of therapy and then he should be able to go home. He'll still have therapy everyday, but he'll at least get to be at home at night. His dad even called me on Labor Day to thank Terra and I for letting Phil come out there again to help. It was a very sweet call and he sounded really good.

If anyone can fill me in on what I've missed in the last two weeks, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!

So how are you today?

I'm glad to hear his dad's doing better. The plans for helping after the hospital sound good. It's also wonderful to hear that he is feeling better about their relationship.

Well I like these 2 but am not sure they are really Christmasy (more like Halloween) but I like their faces in them. Which would you pick?

IMG_0728-1.jpg
This is my fav. We used a pic from pirate night on our Disney cruise last Christmas. The guy that did the cards did a skull in a wreath. I was worried about the pirate theme, but we got more good comments on that card and I think people liked it because it was different. If you use the one with Cindy, the trees have gold ribbon in them -- it would be pretty easy to do a border (someone that knows what they are doing -- which is not me!). I didn't get to send cards out to all of you after everything that happened with Mom, but I did have it in my sig for a while. If you want me to PM it to you for ideas, I'd be happy to.

So, today is DH's birthday and I took him out to dinner.

We had a nice time and really enjoyed our meal.

Of course he remarked how old he is getting.:lmao:

I can remember when I met at age 15 for me and 17 for him :rotfl: :rotfl:

That was toooooo many years ago :lmao:

I hope he had a terrific birthday! Happy belated birthday, Hal!

Night everyone! I don't know if I'll be on much tomorrow. We're leaving in the early afternoon to meet up with Alan at my parents house. My brother's wedding is Saturday afternoon. I can't wait to show you all pictures. It should really be an EXTRAVAGANZA!!! My dad's innate sense of showmanship is really coming out, and it sounds like it will equal a Broadway production!

Anyway, I've got to finish packing suitcases and the car in the morning. I'm also babysitting my niece from the nether regions, and I've got to finish up another batch of pear butter before I leave. Guess I'll have to get up around 4 to get it all done. Better call it a night, now.

See y'all on Monday morning!!!

Safe travels, Glynis! I can't wait to see the pics!

Deb -- I hope Nick is feeling better!

Lindsay and Jen -- I hope you both have MAGICAL trips!

I really miss my boys! I left early on Sunday, and I got back so late last night and had to leave so early this morning that I didn't get to see them. The babysitter will bring them to my office around 4 today -- I can't wait!

I hope you all have a fabulous day!
