Just a drive by post. I went to the PTA meeting last night and another mom came up to me and told me that her daughter said that my son was naughty in class. Yeah - no kidding. :rotfl:

So I went into his classroom today and I feel much better. He was well behaved and all of the teachers there said that he's doing well. He doesn't turn five until Sunday and I've been second guessing myself about sending him but he seems like he's adjusting just fine. :thumbsup2

Its funny, Bernadette mentioned in one of hers posts that she didn't like the heat or crowds in August. Me neither!!!! Last year the weather was hot but managable. This year it was soooo hot & so crowded. We are tied to the kids school schedule right now so our options for a family trip are limited.
So heres what I have been thinking & please give me your honest opinions. Next year, Rosh Hashana starts on September 30. We get 2 days for the observance so my kids would have off 9/30-10/1. (Thats a Tues & Wed). I am thinking about taking them out from September 27 - October 5. We would be able to go to MNSSHP which my kids love & hopefully avoid some of the crowds. My dilemma is that they would miss 3 days of school. (mon, thurs, fri). This week is very light as far as work due to the holiday & there are usually only quizzes (no tests) if that. I am not so worried about Sophie or Daniel, just Katie. She will be in 7th grade (her 1st year in middle school). Not sure if 3 days is o.k. or would it put her behind? She's an A student but I don't want to mess up anything with her school. (also we can't tell the teacher that we are going on vacation, we have to call in sick, which makes me sick.) Thanks
I would probably do it but I don't have any experience with 7th graders. I will repeat what Deb said it can still be VERY hot and October is becoming just as crowded SO....I may not risk taking them out of school if it wouldn't really improve things too much.

I was just putting the school calendar into my work calendar and noticed that the kids have 1/2 day the Thu before Columbus Day and full day off the Fri but I'm thinking it would way too crowded Columbus Day weekend. I think I went the week after Columbus Day in 05 and it was too busy. Then I noticed that they have 1/2 days on Wed & Thu Feb 6 & 7th. Wonder how busy it is then. And they have 1/2 day Thu March 6th and full day Fri March 7th. I don't think I'll do any of those dates this year but maybe think about them for 09.

I forgot to mention that Nick and Hunter had their yearly check ups and they are both A Okay. Nick could stand to drop 10 lbs, but otherwise no issues at all. He even had them bickering in his office over who had to go first. He made them draw straws. Then he asked them question which he knew would have them pointing fingers at each other. Our Pediatrician is retiring in Jan. We will miss him so much. He had 3 boys of his own and he knew Chris growing up so he has been very in tune with our lifestyle and parenting needs. He will be so hard to replace :sad1:

When I mentioned their annual checkups I forgot to mention that Nick had 2 shots. One for Tetnus and one for meningitis. Apparently the shot that they used to give kids heading off to college is now being administered at age 12 to make sure that they all get it. Well he woke up this morning with a tummy ache so he is home. I'm keeping an eye on him as I'm not sure how he will react to that shot.
:wizard:

And finally, this is my notice....We will be gone the 24-29. Phil is going to CA to be his dad's caretaker for a couple of weeks when he is released from the rehab hospital this weekend. FIL is doing really well, but just wanted Phil to come out rather than have a homenurse or someone come in. They offered to just give us the money instead to make up for the couple of weeks off of work. Considering some of the past between Phil and his family, I really feel good about him doing this. The last several years have mended a lot of wounds, but I think the last month has healed many more for both Phil and the rest.

Terra and I are going to go out for a little bit of it as well to visit our best friends, the family and, of course.....our pal Mickey!! Now to just figure out how many days we want to go to the park and talk to my friend about getting us in. I'm thinking 2 days this time since we always seem to be a little rushed to get through what we want. Plus, if we go on Friday, I can finally see the fireworks! I have missed them every time for the last 3 visits due to scheduling or fog.
You get to visit Mickey. How wonderful!!! :dumbo: :dumbo: :dumbo:

All the family stuff sounds good too!

I really miss my boys! I left early on Sunday, and I got back so late last night and had to leave so early this morning that I didn't get to see them. The babysitter will bring them to my office around 4 today -- I can't wait!

I hope you all have a fabulous day!
Enjoy your reunion!!!!!!!!

Do you know her well? :sad2:

There was a break in up here the other day. John read what the paper had to say, and he says it sound fishy. He thinks it was drug related.

That's not good! Lock your doors & set your alarm! DS is paranoid and is constantly setting our alarm, even when I want it off!

I called the school about DS's 504. The counselor said none of his modifications were listed in the system!:scared1: She looked around a bit more and found them listed in March '06. Apparently the elementary had us due for another meeting in March '07 but we never had one, so that was all that was showing. The diagnostician told me the modifications are valid for 3 years, not 1! Anyway, the counselor said she will print off his modifications and put them in the teachers' boxes to alert them. She said she thinks it is best to wait until after the first 6 weeks to have a new 504 because by then the teachers know the kids a little better. I didn't tell her we are fiddling with his meds. If the change in meds helps then great, but the teachers can't ignore the modifications and put the burden on DS/us to figure out how to get all the homework done.

Deb - Yikes! Poor Nick will never want to miss a day of school again! I'm glad you are feeling better!

Kim - I hope she said it in a joking way as opposed to acting like she was providing you with valuable information. I would have been tempted to say "Really? DS says your DD is a tattletale!":rotfl:

The Mgr. at my Disney Store asked me if I wanted a part time job for the holidays. I tend to think not. I make good money when I babysit - and it's easier than retail! Plus I can pick and choose my sitting gigs.

I feel fine. I'm pretty convinced that I must have passed a small kidney stone. That would explain the pain, the pain getting much worse then the pain just disappearing. I've thought of Glynis many times over the past few days. Thinking back I may have had lesser versions of this in the past, but never quite that painful.

Sounds like a kidney stone to me. I'm so sorry to welcome you into my "club." It's not one I would want my friends in. Too painful! I'll hope that you never have to experience another one. Hopefully, it was just a small one, and that you have no more. The big ones are HORRIBLE! I've had some that my major pain meds just don't handle. For those I've had to go to the hospital. Very nasty!!!

Well, the pear butter is cooked, bottled, processed, and cooling! It smells heavenly!!! The suitcases are all packed and in the car. I'm working on getting the camera stuff together and then that will go in the car. I've cleaned the kitchen, done 2 loads of laundry, and all I have left to do is sweep the floor, fix lunch for the little girls, deliver my niece to her mom, pick up Katie and Jacob and go. I do have to stop at my sister's house to pick up the "flower girl" and "flower tomboy" dresses, and a box of icing flowers for the cake. Then we'll be off.

So, I'm feeling comfortably ahead of the game. Thought I'd take some time to get caught up and see if there's anyone needing some pixie dust. I wonder how Beth's PTA meeting went? It will be interesting to see how things shake out there!

Checking in... could not get on last night and this morning, so I am still catching up. Hope everyone has a great day and evneing. :sunny:

Thanks for the support. I hope that I won't have another kidney stone, but it runs in the family so I suspect that I'm in for more.

Have a great trip and take lots of pictures.

She said it in a joking way and I wasn't offended. It's not something that I would have said to another parent that I had never met. But, no, I had never met her. She knows a good friend of mine (who knows he's naughty :lmao: ) and maybe she felt that she knew me through her. :confused3 ETA: I did think it was a little weird after I thought about it though. :)

Deb glad you are feeling better. Sorry to hear that it might have been a bout with a kidney stone. :wizard: for no more!

Heidi you are like me, once I get going on a book, I just can't stop. Sorry to hear about the break in. Be careful!

Kim glad to hear ds is doing well at school. My boys loved going to preschool & kindergarten. They were always on their best behavior for the teachers. I sometimes had to make sure they were talking about my boys :rotfl:

Glynis I hope you have a wonderful time! Sounds like you have been very busy this morning.

Does anyone know the number for the bomb squad? I'm pretty sure that one went off in my house and I'd like them to come and clean it up :rotfl: :rotfl:

If you find it let me know. I sure could use it for the boys rooms  :rotfl:

I got an email from photopass-CD should be here by 9/18.

Cool! That's not a horrible wait at all!

I just put Princess in bed for her nap, but she was sleeping in the car when we went to pick up the dry cleaning so I am not sure what sort of a nap she'll take.

I keep thinking it's going to rain. It has been cloudy all day. Maybe it is going to wait until tonight when we go to Open House and the car is parked really far away!:rotfl2:

It's very normal :rotfl: Just remember that they won't be little forever. That's my thinking when I'd like to tape them all to chairs :rotfl:

I'm glad they got a clean bill of health. :thumbsup2
