Grocery shopping is done! Soon we will head out to do some fun shopping :thumbsup2

I gave up reading for tonight, so I'm about 50 pages behind. I'm sorry if I miss anyone's post that may have been directed at me.:goodvibes

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here:goodvibes

I see a big difference in the two pictures! Thanks for sharing them and congratulations!!! :goodvibes

Great pictures:thumbsup2

Welcome Maria. Don't worry if you don't have time to read every post. Usually after someone has been gone for a couple of days, they just request someone post a review of the important stuff. Someone is always gracious enough to fill us in on what we've missed. We all seem to go in spurts where we are here all the time and then have stuff that comes up that keeps us away for days on end. All are welcome! We love meeting new friends and keeping up with the old ones.

Poor Jacob! I hope he continues to feel better! :wizard:

Glynis, every time you discuss one of your new recipes, I have visions of your kiddos holding up score cards like on Dancing with the Stars. :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Sometimes that's how I feel!! And a lot of the time, those cards would read ZERO!!!

Awww, thanks. :blush:

But, I do curse a lot when I frost cookies. Don't forget I'm a Donald Duck, just like Glynis! ;)

You and me, sister!!! I can tell you some choice phrases come out of my mouth when I'm cooking for my kids!

Hello everyone!

I'm just popping in to say "hi!" My last visit here was Tuesday (I think) and I can't believe how many pages have been filled since then! I have a lot of reading ahead of me tonight:lmao:

How do you guys do it? Do you read every post if it has been about a week between posts? With a new semester starting up soon, I don't know how I'll keep up:scared1:

I told my DH about all the great new friends I made the last time I was here . . I thought he'd laugh at me, but he thought it was really neat! He's such an amazing DH!!!

I've also been meaning to post on the weightloss thread, but I've had a hectic week preparing for school next week. I should pop over there to say hello tonight! I'm off to find my last post so I can catch up!!! Cheers!:goodvibes

Please don't feel like you have to read everything. You can always ask for a recap and one of us that doesn't have a life (like me!) will usually provide you with one.

Are you excited for your semester to start? I think, if I had the money, I'd be a college student for life!!! That was when I was the happiest! I was a theater major and an English Lit. minor! Loved those English lit. classes!!!

Well, I had a great start to my 3 day weekend. My son and his wife and my littlest grandson met my daughter, her family and me at Panera Bread for lunch before we went to Dutch Wonderland. We had a really nice day. My DGS 1.5 is getting so big!!:dance3:

My DD wanted to figure out what we are going to do for Thanksgiving. She needs a break from the kids. She wants to go to an undisclosed location and relax for the weekend. Sorta like the guys go to hunting camp. :santa: She wants us to go to a resturant for Thanksgiving dinner.:goodvibes This is not without precendent. For years I had a standing reservation for Thanskgiving dinner. :goodvibes :goodvibes

I really like the idea. We could go to a nice place for dinnner, still do the Black Friday shopping and then off to crop. No kids until Monday!!! The only cog in the wheel is my sister. She looks forward to coming here every Thanksgiving. I think she shoyuld arrive the Monday before and go home after the BF sales. Hmmmmm, wonder what she'll say???:hippie:

That sounds like a great plan to me!

Glynis- How's Jacob doing today. The zoo sounded fun, the heat not so much. Glad Alan is home!

Jacob is back to normal this morning. He woke up ravenously hungry and finished off all the cinnamon french toast bake from yesterday! I am making him take it easy today, as it's still really hot here!

I wish I did :sad2: I take my broom & sweep the ceiling, oh what a mess that makes! Eventually all the popcorn should be gone, I can't wait!

We had that popcorn stuff on the ceiling of our old house, and I hated it! We wanted to get it removed, and were all set to start, when we were told that most of that stuff is full of asbestos! It's dangerous to take it down yourself. We called in a company that does asbestos testing, and sure enough, our ceiling was full of the nasty stuff.

Hmm. DS has moved on to the theme from The Addams Family on the bells. I told him he was NOT to even think about touching them before 11 AM, so he stared at the clock until 11 AM and now the bells are relentless. Oh, my! Now he has stumbled on something that sounds very much like "Do you know the way to San Jose?" And he is just fooling around!:rotfl2:

You & me both! I'd love to be a permanent part-time student. There are so many things to learn.

Maria - Just pop in when you can! I didn't read more than about 5 of the pages I missed when we were at WDW. I jumped in when I came back and figured I would get the gist of whatever went on while we were gone. If you don't read each and every post you will still be just fine.:)

Maria- Don't worry about staying on top of us!! Just pop in when you get a chance!

:hug:'s and :wizard: to everyone I missed!

:wave: Maria!

I thought for sure that our posting mania had scared you off! :lmao: You'll catch on. If you need to, ask for a recap. Someone will post it and voila - you're all caught up! Good to see you post.

Thanks for the advice . . . I feel relieved to know that I can just jump on in when time permits!!:goodvibes

It seems, these days, time is a precious commodity. I guess coming off of a summer of not working and then starting up for the year is like going from 0 to 60 in 6 seconds flat!!! That's OK, though, because I thrive on schedules and look forward to getting back to work! My DD is also starting competetive dance, so my chauffeur duties will also be in full swing this year. Needless to say, with all this business, another year will, I'm sure, just fly by!!!

Glynis: I do get both excited and anxious when each semester starts. I'm actually an introvert with new people, so meeting about 150 new students can make me a little anxious. After the first class, though, all is fine, but the first part of start-up leaves me a little uneasy. It does get easier as the years go by (16 years so far!!), but I think a little excitement and anxiety is good. I just have to remember that the students are probably 100x more anxious than I am.

I hope you all have a fantastic day!!:goodvibes

Does someone have the latest itinerary that they can email me? I have a copy from July. I need the info on the breakfasts. I'm trying to make sure we have everything all set. We arrive late afternoon on Thursday. We are at MNSSHP on Thursday, Cali Grill for dinner on Saturday, LeCellier for dinner on Sunday, Cape May for breakfast on Saturday and I was thinking there was a breakfast on Sunday but I don't have it in my itinerary. Chuck & I still have to decide what we are doing on Friday. We leave Monday afternoon.

46 more days people, 46 days!

:cool1:

every year we try and get my uncle to just give up making thanksgiving dinner and go out but he wants to make the dinner. lots easier to let restuarant cook and clean up. oh well.

Vicki this is what you & Chuck are down for:

Saturday Cape May breakfast - 8:40am/California Grill dinner - 7pm
Sunday Kona Cafe breakfast - 8:30am/Le Cellier dinner - 7:30pm

There is still room for our dinner at R&C Friday if Chuck & yourself would like to join. At the moment it is Kristine & Bill, Chanon, Anne Marie, & myself.

Lindsay were you joining us at R&C?

Welcome Home Anne Marie,

Love the pictures, can't wait to see more!

By this time tomorrow we should be at POP! Brandon is really getting excited now, about riding the plane that is! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Work took two hours longer than I had planned but I only have to do a couple of small last minute loads of laundry, and pack our morning toiletries after we use them, and then we are off!

Take care of yourselves and be ready to give a recap,

Debbie

Debbie have a wonderful time! :dance3:

I need help guys. Anyone who can explain it can help. I am interviewing for a math tutor position and I have to take a math test. I suck at upper lever math so I need help on how to do one problem. I go in on Wednesday afternoon to finish taking the test. The question I need help on is find x and y. I don't have the question in front of me but i will make it up.

Find x and y:

8x+7y=18
17x-4y=27

I don't know if that really would work out with those numbers but that is what the question looks like. If any of you remember/know how to do equations like this could you pm me the steps by Tuesday so I can look over and remember how to do it. Like type out how to find x and y/the answers. Thanks in advance

I'm happy to help you out with the problem. The only problem with making it up is that the answers aren't nice & even but here it is.

You want to add equations together so that x or y are 0. Since y is positive in one and y is negative in the other, I proceeded as follows.

1st equation – multiple both sides by 4
4(8x+7y)=(4)18 => 32x+28y=72

2nd equation – multiple both sides by 7
7(17x-4y)=7(27) => 119x-28y=189

Add resulting equations together and then solve for x by dividing both sides by 151
32x+28y=72
+ 119x-28y=189
------------------
151x -0y = 261 => (151x)/151 = (261)/151 => x = 261/151

Put x in one of the equations and solve for y:
32 (261/151) + 28 y = 72 => 8352/151 + 28y = 72
=> 28y = 72 – 8352/151 => 28y = 10872/151 – 8352/151
=> 28y = 2520/151 => y = 2520/4228

Put x and y in the equation and verify it works.

8(261/151) + 7(2520/4228) = 18 Yes
17 (261/151) – 4(2520/4228) = 27 Yes
