Elizabeth - Congrats to your DS for his grades! You should be proud.

I am also crowing tonight, as Kristin's second semester grades were posted and she has another set of A's. That makes the 4th semester in a row that she has gotten straight A's and her GPA is 3.79 right now. I am delighted with her, to say the least! :)

I have a small dilemma & would like your thoughts.

Garrett is not happy playing baseball this year. I am not sure if it is because he is in a different league or if he just doesn't care for it anymore. He says it is just not fun anymore. I told him he has to finish out this season & then he does not have to play anymore if he does not want to.

I would encourage him to stick with it because when he joined he made a commitment to his team. In life we sometimes must do things that we just don't like for whatever reason. However if he does not want to rejoin when it comes time to decide then I would give him the option to stop playing baseball.

I am gonna share my experience, it is something to think about it. His disliking baseball may just be the current situation. In junior high I was in marching band and other musical activities. I hated it, would come home crying every night, begged my parents to quit marching and all music activities because of this one girl. This probably went on for an entire season or longer. Things would improve and then they would get worse again.

This one girl who kept shouting out instructions of what we were supposed to do which kept distracting me and several others instead of helping me and was making me not recall what I was supposed to do. Let's just say at the time I hated it. A few of us went to the band and choral directors and talked to the director, he told her to stop because it was making things hard for others and that she was helping and not hurting the group. Sure enough people were doing better without her "help".

Well I ended up staying in Marching band, choral groups, musicals, etc in high school and through college and loved it. This girl chilled out and stopped giving her directions and things improved for me and others, she also eventually dropped out of some of the activities. Before you tell him he can quit I would definitely want to know why. If you need to talk to coaches or whatever I would do so. Had I quit because of this girl I would not have had many awesome experiences.

Had my parents not encouraged me to stick with these musical activities, I would not have had the opportunity to perform in WDW, at a Jacksonville Jaguars game, at the Lincoln memorial in DC, Superdome, watch Broadway shows in NYC, go to Illinois, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Virginia, and I could go on.

He just might not like the activity but there could also be more to it, than what meets the eye.

Elizabeth that is wonderful! Congratulations to your ds :cheer2:

Well, it's official! DS is a 6th grader! He made STRAIGHT A's for the last 6 weeks! His semester and year-end averages are all A's and B's. Bless his heart, if it wasn't for the C he made in math the first 6 weeks he would have made A/B honor roll. We are SO proud of him!:dance3: I went in with him this morning and thanked all 3 of his core teachers. He has had a good year. I am terrified of middle school. I hope it doesn't show!

:woohoo: Kristin!

Well, im getting a bit discouraged.
2 of my closest friends both have found jobs for the fall. Im so happy for them but i feel like ill never get a job. They have both had a ton of interviews and i had one..

I know things will look up and its early yet, just feeling a bit down tonight

Congrats to the good grades!!!

It's a little strange to say I have a 6th grader. A friend of mine(about the same age)was lamenting that her oldest is now 5 and going into kindergarten in the fall. :rotfl2: My oldest is officially a sophmore. My youngest got A's except in PE and Music...We also got her MAPS scores (have no idea what MAPS means but it has replaced the Iowa tests) and she is part of the curve that make average kids curse.:rotfl: I am dreading Cassidy's grades...I am also dreading paying fees for 2 kids in secondary ed. :lmao:

You will get a job....I can't believe you haven't been asked to interview for more jobs. Is their teaching specialty different than yours??

Jen your job will come, you are just having the Disney blues

We all have the same certification--They are both having jobs with special needs kids--both will have autistic classrooms..That is not something I would want, but just wish i would get some more interviews. People keep saying that alot of schools dont start interviewing til mid june but its just a blah night..sorry to vent!

Congrats to all the DDA smarties :thumbsup2

I had a long reply started earlier today, but I had to unplug the laptop to take it to work and lost it.

Hunter has a rough draft of a book report due tomorrow. He's known about it for weeks and had told us that he was working on it at school. Of course he didn't bring any of it home until last night and he showed it to me after the concert. I knew then that he was going to have trouble getting it done. He is such a slow writer. So he came home at 3 today and started in. I had typed what he had written prior to today into my laptop last night. He had missed including the setting in his opening paragraph which was a requirement. That meant that he needed to rewrite the whole thing  I figured that if I type it and print it out it would be easier for him to rewrite it from type rather than his handwriting. Well he had no time to work on it at school today. I ended up taking him and the laptop to work tonight. I worked with him for an hour then Chris picked him up. I told Chris to work with him, but apparently he thought the lawn was more important and that Hunter could work independently. I got home at 9:30 and Hunter had managed to write a whopping 12 sentences in 3 hours  Chris had stopped him from finishing and started him on rewriting. The last couple of paragraphs were so much less informative then the rest of the paper. I ended up having him retell the important stuff to me and I finished typing it. by then it was 10:30 and I was not having him rewrite it. She will have to accept the typed format for the rough draft. I think 7 hours on a 3rd grade rough draft book report is more than enough. We will see what the teacher has to say tomorrow. It is all Hunter's words, just not in his handwriting. He even typed some of it himself which explained why it took him 3 hours to write 12 sentences. So needless to say I'm one frustrated mom tonight.

I guess a little birdie told Mickey that the boys would be visiting in July as they got a postcard from Mickey and the Gang today :thumbsup2 We also got a postcard from Jen. Thanks for both.
