Deb, feel better soon!

How fun!

We have "cry baby matinee" at one of the theaters, but I have never been. That dizzy spell sounds scary! I'm glad you feel better today!

Great pics! I also didn't realize that you were in Orlando last week!

Ditto!

If I had a dog I would have to get one of those!:rotfl2:

Happy Anniversary!

Well, I was on the phone the entire day today. I talked with 3 of my friends who are long term nannies, I talked with the placement agent, I talked with DH. DH said there is just something about the job that pays all that money that he can't quite place. Somethign that makes him a little uneasy. The more I thought about it, the more I thought that as the time to start that job approached the more apprehensive I would feel. I really wanted the job with the little girl. I hemmed and hawed, and I finally called the agent and told her that I am just not comfortable and I don't think that job with all the money would be s good fit for me long term. Obviously she was not happy to hear that, but at least she wasn't ugly. Then I called the mom with the little girl and told her they win! They are the family I want to work for.:goodvibes

It is NOT less money, it is more, just not as MUCH more as the other family. But this little girl loves to go out and do things like Chuck E. Cheese which DS also loves and would have been off limits in that other job. So I was really happy. Until...

Momboss came home and I told her I chose a family and I will start either June 18 or 25. She freaked out on me and told me that I basically stabbed her in the back and that tomorrow will be my last day.:scared1: She said we had a deal. Um, yes. The deal is that if I find a job before the end of August that I will TAKE IT and give them as much notice as I can. I think a MONTH notice is pretty generous, considering my written contract says two weeks. But this is an at-will employment state so if she wants me to be fired tomorrow then that's that. I told her it is a MONTH away and that I don't think she really wants for me to leave like this, but she was FURIOUS and said that I have to do what's best for my family and she has to do what's best for hers. So, leaving the kids alone after tomorrow is best? School is over! Or bringing in a stranger to temp for them is best for her family? Or treating me like dirt when I have NEVER concealed any of my interviews or intentions is best for her family? Hmm. OK.

Dadboss came in just as she told me to get out. So I very calmly and politely explained to Dadboss that I did choose a family and that I would let the new family know I couldn't start before June 25. He thought for a second, said that gives them more than a month to find a replacement and that will be fine. And he congratulated me. He was very nice and didn't yell at me or tell me I am fired. So we'll see what sort of greeting I get tomorrow. I told Momboss to call my friend who said she will help out, but I almost think she doesn't WANT a solution - she wants to be mad at me.

How horrible! I can't believe that Momboss freaked out like that. I'm so glad that Dadboss came home when he did and was much more reasonable. Good luck on the contract negotiations with the little girl's family. Somewhere in here is the right place for you. ::hug: :wizard: :wizard:

So Lucy's room is painted. My girlfriend was godsend as she did 90% of the work. All that is left is stenciling the red tear drop part of the sleeves. I may get to it this weekend. Once the room is finished I will post some pics. I think it turned out great, although Emma said it didn't look like Snow White's dress because it was flat:rolleyes:

Yesterday was crazy. Mondays are always a day I dread as all the kids are a little wacky being off of my schedule. I had a horrible afternoon with the 5yr old boy. I certainly am glad that I only have 3 1/2 weeks left. And it didn't help that a cable contractor hit a gas line in our neighborhood around 11:30am and it didn't get fixed until after 11pm last night. Thankfully nothing happened as a result of the leak but it snarled traffic for hours. It made getting in and out of our neighborhood took about 2 hours longer than normal so he didn't leave until almost 6pm.

We are off to enjoy the sunshine this morning. Have a great day!

Evening everyone!!! Here's a quick teaser - flowers from the Desert!
NevadaFlowers.jpg

Welcome home! I hope you had a great time in Vegas!

Good morning, DDA!

Welcome home, Chanon! I hope the trip was terrific!

Tammi - 2 of the little girls in kindergarten used to fight over DS. He liked a little girl named Annie the best. But I don't recall ever hearing him say any girl is "hot", ever!:rotfl2: You definitley have gorgeous children. You should probably get a nice stick so you can ward off potential suitors.;)

I need to get inthe shower. I want to be nice and clean in case I get fired today!

Oh, I can't wait to hear what happens at work today!!!

Good morning. I still have this stinking cold. I think my lungs must be full as I gained 7 lbs over the weekend. :scared1: It couldn't all be from eating poorly could it? :confused3 While I'm feeling better I'm still weak. Thankfully I can just hang out today and take a nap with the little guys. I do need to grocery shop tonight as I won't have another chance this week, but hopefully I'll feel up to it if I rest all day.

The sun is shining and we haven't seen that in a while. Nick has a track meet for his grade today. I think it is part of PE as he isn't on a track team. Not much else going on here.

I hope you continue to feel better today, Deb! Nothing worse than feeling icky, and still having a ton of stuff to do! Take it easy, ok?

First congrats on the new position! Glad you found the right family for you. Second, Momboss needs to calm down..good thing Dadboss has a level head.

I finally bought a heating pad for my back, but I am sitting her using it on my tummy. Its good for pms cramps..so my back & my front hurt.

I am going to my WW's meeting at lunchtime & I wasn't too bad this week so I hope I lost alittle...seems like I lost my weight loss mojo.:rolleyes1

Have a great day, check back later.

"If not now, when?"

READ THIS SLOWLY... IT'S PRETTY PROFOUND.

Too many people put off the things that bring them joy, just because they haven't thought about it, don't have it on their schedule, didn't know it was coming, or are too rigid to depart from their routine.

I got to thinking one day about all those people on the Titanic who passed up dessert at dinner that fateful night, in an effort to cut back. From then on, I've tried to be a little more flexible.

How many women out there will eat at home because their husband didn't suggest going out to dinner until after something had been thawed? Does the word "refrigeration" mean nothing to you?

How often have your kids dropped in to talk and sat in silence while you watched 'Law and Order' on television?

I cannot count the times I called my sister and said, "How about going to lunch in a half hour?" She would stammer, "I can't. I have clothes in the washer. My hair is dirty. I wish I had known yesterday, I had a late breakfast." And, my personal favorite: "It's Monday." She died a few years ago. We never did have lunch together.

Because Americans cram so much into their lives, we tend to schedule our headaches... We live on a sparse diet of promises we make to ourselves when all the conditions are perfect!

We'll go back and visit the grandparents when we get Stevie toilet-trained. We'll entertain when we replace the living-room carpet . We'll go on a second honeymoon when we get two more kids out of college.

Life has a way of accelerating as we get older. The days get shorter, and the list of promises to ourselves gets longer. One morning we awaken and all we have to show for our lives is a litany of "I'm going to," "I plan on," and "Someday, when things are settled down a bit."

When anyone calls my 'seize the moment' friend, she is open to adventure and available for trips. She keeps an open mind on new ideas. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious. You talk with her for five minutes, and you're ready to trade your bad feet for a pair of rollerblades, and skip an elevator for a bungee cord.

My lips have not touched ice cream in 10 years. I love ice cream. It's just that I might as well apply it directly to my stomach with a spatula and eliminate the digestive process. The other day, I stopped the car and bought a triple-decker. If my car had hit an iceberg on the way home, I would have died happy.

Now...go on and have a nice day. Do something you WANT to... not something on your SHOULD DO list. If you were going to die soon and had only one phone call you could make, who would you call and what would you say? And why are you waiting?

Make sure you read this to the end; you will understand why I sent this to you

Have you ever watched kids playing on a merry-go-round or listened to the rain lapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight or gazed at the sun into the fading night? Do you run through each day on the fly? When you ask "How are you?" do you hear the reply?

When the day is done, do you lie in your bed with the next hundred chores running through your head? Ever told your child, "We'll do it tomorrow" and in your haste, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch? Let a good friendship die? Just call to say "Hi"?

When you worry and hurry through your day, it is like an unopened gift....Thrown away.... Life is not a race. Take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

To all of you... I cherish our friendship and appreciate all you do.

"Life may not be the party we hoped for... but while we are here we might as well dance!"

Deb, I am glad you are on the mend!

I knew all along that I really wanted the job with the one little girl, and when they were able to meet my salary request I felt like that really shows a lot of dedication on their part. They want the very best for their beautiful DD and it was important enough that they found a way to make it work. The mom was shocked when I told her I had chosen them, but she was thrilled. I might not ever make top market salary, but hopefully I won't ever regret choosing to go with the family I wanted as opposed to the family that paid a lot.

It's just my opinion, but I don't think you will. :goodvibes congratulations on making a decision you are happy with!

Please pardon my ignorance but who or what group is CCR?? This has been bugging me since last night.

Elizabeth- Glad to hear you made a decision.

Glynis and Deb glad you are feeling better.

You're not alone, but I didn't want to ask :upsidedow

Now come on you two! This one isn't even an age thing. CCR, as mentioned, is fantastic! :teeth:

So Lucy's room is painted. My girlfriend was godsend as she did 90% of the work. All that is left is stenciling the red tear drop part of the sleeves. I may get to it this weekend. Once the room is finished I will post some pics. I think it turned out great, although Emma said it didn't look like Snow White's dress because it was flat:rolleyes:

Emma, you're too silly! :rotfl: I can't wait to see the finished result. You might not feel this way, but I can't believe you're already 33 weeks! :goodvibes

Hi all!

Well this has been an exciting day ;) I got a call at work from Riley's school telling me he had been in a accident. It happened after school while he was waiting for his ride to come home. He was riding a friends bike & a lady opened her car door as Riley was going by & he hit the door & flew over over it & landed on the ground :scared1: Thankfully there are no broken bones, I will just have one sore boy tomorrow. He landed on his right side & his arm & leg are pretty sore at the moment. Never a dull moment around here

The lady did call me to make sure Riley is ok. I am not completely blaming her, but hopefully she will check her side mirror next time.

 for Riley! How scary that must have been to get that call, Janet. I am glad there was nothing more serious to report.
