The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 25

Well I spent the afternoon going back to my old stomping ground (about 2 hours north of where I live now). I needed to put some flowers on my Dad's headstone, and I thought this would be the opportunity to show Leighanna where I grew up.

I would have showed her my High School, but they tore it down and replaced it with a state of the art school. (She thinks I went to the new one, it is hard for her to comprehend that it is new).

I would have showed her the house that I grew up in, but alas, it was torn down and replaced with several new homes on the old farmstead.

I went into town to show her where DW used to live. Can you believe the house was still there, although it looked nothing like it used to.:thumbsup2 (It has been remodeled)

So now I feel really old. I tried to find some of the houses that my friends lived at, and though most of them were there, they just seemed so small compared to what I remember as a child.

After the trip down memory lane, Leighanna and I went to the lake and ate ice cream, sat on the beach, and talked about the past. She is really interested in every detail. We had a nice talk, and then headed home.

I was going to do some work out in the yard, but the rain is falling, so I am going to take it easy the rest of the night!

Sounds like a wonderful day!

I took my kids to my grandparents old home a couple of years ago. I was so excited to show them the house, the orchard, the barn, etc. Imagine my distress to find out the house had been torn down, and a fast food place put up there. It was so sad!

Alan and I will be taking the kids to put flowers on his dad's headstone tomorrow. We'll also take some time to clean that headstone, and his grandparent's headstones. Then to another cemetery to put flowers on my aunt's headstone. We like to take the time to make things look nice, and tell the kids stories about their relatives. When I was small, Memorial Day was a huge thing in our small town. People would pack picnic lunches and spend the day at the cemetery, cleaning, polishing, and remembering. We're trying to do the same with our kids.

That sounds nice. My mother went to the cemetary today and cleaned my grandparents stone and planted flowers. She still wants a few more, but she was glad to have gone to do it.

We had a busy day.....

finished clearing out the huge storage unit. Jim and I are arguing....he didn't hear the 16 times I told him to take this hunking big piece we were given to Savers. When I accepted it I was going to use it as an entertainment stand...now it wouldn't even fit it in our front door. So we may never see our garage to use for Wheezy.

We got flowers and veggies for our little garden and peat moss.......decided to put the flowers in the pots we were left....I hope they take. Got the peat moss incorporated and will plant the veggies tomorrow.

We then went to Cassidy's boyfriend's grad party for a few minutes...he's a good kid. Than I went to a Homemade Gourmet show, yummy stuff.

We also went to PETCO to check out kitty cats....nobody seemed to have a reaction....but none of the kitties jumped out as ones that needed to come home tonight with us.

Than we went to Dairy Queen....I can't eat it but it's a nice treat.

Now I am tired.

Guess I am done talking to myself now :rotfl:

This has been a long day! I took Garrett to his scrimage game & it started pouring, so it was canceled. I brought him home & went to work. I was ready to leave work around 3pm & the skys opened up & it rained so hard. The wind was blowing just right & we soon had a flood in our building. We had water everywhere. Between the wet vac & mopping, my back is not to happy right now. It was still raining when I left so I came home. Once it stopped I went to the grocery store. When I left the store I realized I forgot milk  So I stopped by work. There was a lady there that had left her wallet on the counter & it was nowhere to be found. So I went in the office & watched the video. The lady had left her wallet on the counter & the customer behind her scooped it up, just like it was hers. I called the police & had to wait for them. Finally after about an hour I was able to leave. I only needed a gallon of milk :rotfl: The police took the tape so they could view it better & the lady had a good description of the person that took her wallet. I really hope they catch up with her!

Ok I feel better now & the Fuzzy Navel I am drinking tastes pretty good :thumbsup2

Sorry about the flood! What a pain! And the wallet!:scared1: Unbelieveable! I hope they catch the crook!

Nope you're not a dork! I think it is great that you are getting some of the packing done. Just that much less to stress about when you get closer to leaving.

Have fun at the fishing derby tomorrow! Ours is tomorrow as well, hopefully the rain will stay away long enough.

I just put a second load of laundry in the wash & got the dishes done. I did vacuum when I got home, but thats about it for cleaning today.

Deb, congrats on the packing! Have fun fishing!

Janet, I hope the rain stays away!:wizard:

Theresa - I thought you were looking for a puppy? Arabella scratched DS in the face this morning and I have a scratch down my leg that is probably 6 inches long. Her claws are like razors! DH tried to trim them but had very limited success. I really don't remember Aurora being quite that bad about scratching and biting. Good luck with your pet search! Have you looked on Petfinder? You can put in what sort of pet you want and the site will search the shelters in your area for matches.

I was in bed but I am WIDE awake so I decided to get up. I didn't do anything productive today, other than get my hair cut. Oh, and download that Pirate ringtone.:rolleyes1
My eye is a mess. It is oozing, but I can't tell if it is oozing the contents of the sty (which would be good) or if the sty is irritating my eyeball and causing it to ooze from secondary infection (which would be bad). :scared: I should probably start using the antibiotic drops just to be safe.

Abi would love a puppy....but our life is just not condusive to a puppy....it's not fair to a puppy/dog to be alone for such long periods of time....at least 6 hours a day. Abi wanted all of the cats to just start playing...I keep forgetting she has never really been around a cat. The front runner is Mishi...the grand dame of the adoptables. I like Petco because they are Humane Society kitties...there is one more Petco on the way home from church...we will stop there and see if there are any kitties who wanna come home with us.

Speaking of Pirates, Disney Shopping has Pirate Crocs (and Mickey Crocs, too) for 30% off. I couldn't get the site to work right for the adult ones, but the kids ones were working fine.

Hello everyone. Hope everyone's having a nice Memorial Day weekend:goodvibes

 How are you doing???

The kids doing okay??
We're doing pretty well. Effie had the staples taken out of his head a week ago. (He had cracked his head and split the back open several weeks ago. Of course now he's jumping and climbing the furniture again so must have short term memory.:confused3

I noticed your ticker you're going to Disney soon.:cool1: How exciting.:)

I had no idea there were so many cat rescue groups in our area. SPCA and Humane Society are the big shelters, but then there are TONS of rescue groups that foster the kitties out and do mobile adoptions. Our vet's office said whenever they get kitties they have a rescue group come get them, and the rescue groups also pull the "best" animals from shelters so they won't be euthanized. Of course there are breed specific rescues, too. Encourage Abi to take her time (easier said than done).

well I am heading to bed....we are going to spend a little bit and watch a grown up (PG+) movie in our room..

Have great Sundays everyone!!!
