no she didnt stay late and they wont pay her when she isnt here. i think if i moved out i would actually have more luck because since im at home they no my parents are here and will help out. they have even asked me to get my brother to sign up to help me and im like hell no thats not his job and my parents arent gonna sign up either because then they really wont look for someone. its funny cause when i call and ask if they have found someone they always say if you know of anyone. i say if i did i wouldnt need ya'll to find someone.

Karen -  . I hope you get all the help you need, and that things get sorted out soon!

I went back to the mall today and remembered to check. None. They didn't even have one single princess dress! :scared1: I was going to buy Alyssa a new one and give it to her on her birthday before heading off to the boutique. Now I have to rethink that plan.

Tammi - I was looking for a costume for my DN's b-day - she'll be turning 5 next week, and has always been a tomboy. All of a sudden, she has decided she likes the princesses, and wants to wear dresses and look "pretty" all the time. I coudn't find any at the Disney Store, and the ones at Target were pretty cheaply made. I did consider the dress-up trunk that Becky posted from Disneyshopping.com, but as I had to take her gift to Houston this weekend, and it wouldn't have made it in time.

Have you checked www.buycostumes.com? They had a bunch of Disney costumes around Halloween. I was really surprised that I coudn't find a costume - I thought they were available all the time.

I'm trying to get ready for my trip to Lansing tomorrow. I don't know how I'll be ready. So much to do and so little time.

Safe travels, Vicki! :wizard:

My internet and phone connection is wonky. They are actually suprised I have DSL as it goes through the phone line and the whole phone/internet transmitter in Philly is under water.:headache: However they are not sure if that is the issue or not. They said it will be Tuesday before they will be able to come out and check the phone line here.

Its still raining here. It's already flooded all over the place.

If I picked a place to move in at WDW, it would be the Living Seas. I can swim with the dolphins, SCUBA dive, kayak. When I am finished with my water sports I can go have a Chocolate wave at the Coral Reef. I can talk with Crush, ride the clamshells to Find Nemo, and perhaps I can rig the theatre to watch any movie I want. Is the theatre still there?? I'd plant my bed on the second floor amongst the tanks, so I can fall asleep watching the fish.:thumbsup2

I was thinking about all of you on the eastern seaboard this weekend - I hope the rain and storms let up soon, and everyone is keeping safe! :wizard:

I'm calling it an early night. I am soooo tired even though I took a nap today. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Deb

I hope you're feeling better today, Deb!

Thanks Becky. I'll give that a look tomorrow.

I think tonight is going to be a long night. So far both kids have ended up in my bed because the wind is scaring them. Between them tossing and turning and the wind making it sound like my house is going to blow away, I don't see much sleep in my future tonight.

Good night.

Hope you got some sleep last night, Tammi, and that you made it through the night without winding up in Oz. ;)

Well i just got home--We had to take our dog to get put down tonight...

Oh, Jen, I am so, so sorry. Was this comign on? Regardless, I know how painful this can be. Many   :grouphug: :grouphug: for you and your family.

So I guess I should not say Congratulations to Cassidy :upsidedow

NO!! You should not be saying congrats to Cassidy.....but I gotta say I admire my kid...he's a senior...she goes after what she wants. :rotfl2:

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions on the costumes. Does anyone know how much they run in the parks? Just a dress only.

::yes::

There is a thread titled something like "If you could change your tag". I posted that I would love to have mine changed to Member of the DDA Gang & this is what I got :rotfl:

I like the new colors, but I want my "Take me to my Happy Place" back that I put there :sad1:

I was really hoping the TF would make a visit to our thread!

Janet -- is that a new tag?

Poor Stephanie!

But, smart Stephanie for getting the house cleaned! I used to have two women who came in every other week to clean our house house, but then college happened again. So, when we get this second child through college (or if her scholarship somehow increases or student loans are larger next year) I vow to have them back again.

I second Elin! But just think - a clean house and Disney all at once?! You'll be flying high and feeling better in no time! :thumbsup2

Morning DDA!
Not sure if I posted at all over the weekend, but it was uneventful. Haircut and eyebrows done saturday morning, baseball game saturday afternoon, Dad called and said he got approved for food stamps (or whatever they are actually called now) and to quailfy for Medicare/Medicaid (I forget which one) he has to give 20 hours a week of his time. If he gets this, he can get his hip replaced, which will allow him to walk properly and hopefully get a job! He's balking at working at the liberry, but they also offered the dog pound - I think he can clean up poop just fine weather he likes it or not.

:wizard:that things begin to fall in place for your dad, Chanon. Um, me thinks I would pick the liberry! ;)

Snow day for us! It was supposed to snow all day yesterday, but it just rained. Then we were supposed to get 13" evening and overnight. We ended up with about 5" (very heavy and wet), but it is still snowing here. The worry is that the snow is so heavy on the branches and power lines. We've had a couple of branches down out back. I'm not sure it really warranted a snow day, but we have used only one so far this year, so I think they were being extra careful. The higher elevations may be worse, though, and if they open schools, they have to be able to get everyone there.

Beth, great picture! I hope things have stopped now, so there won't be any further fears of power outages! :wizard:

Well the rain came down in buckets yesterday & it is still raining nowbut not as bad. It was so loud. Anyway we get the kids to bed & lay down. I hear tapping in my room. So Dana & I think its ice pellets hitting the window. We turn on the light & what do you think it was? Water..yep water dripping from my ceiling into my room! Well we are on the first floor so it can't be the roof. We run upstairs to the kids rooms & felt the wall which would have been directly above my room & lo & behold the wall is wet! Dana opened the window & look at the house & turns out there is a huge hole in the cedar siding & that is how the water got in. It must have been there for awhile but we never knew it since we haven't had such bad rain in years.

I was nervous that the wires in the wall would get wet & go on fire (yes, I am paranoid!) so we carried the kids downstairs to sleep. Daniel was on the couch & the girls in the playroom futon. Anyway Daniel wakes up & was so cute. He had no idea how he got on the couch..he was so confused. Sophie was too but Daniel was just so funny.

We have been looking at vinyl siding so I guess we are going to do it sooner than later..gee more bills...ugh.

:scared1: I'm so glad you guys found it, though, before things got worse. Glad everyone is safe, and I hope that bill isn't too steep! :wizard:

Aidan update:

Big Day for Aidan.

Looking to get extubated. AGAIN

Echo Cardiogram to see if medication is working on heart. Dosage has been increased.

Contrast Study to see if intestines are working properly.

Countdown 3 weeks to reconnection.

6-9 weeks and maybe we will get our boy HOME!

Thanks for the update, Beth. More :wizard: :grouphug: for Aidan and Mac's family!

So my first interview went fine. Kind of boring, actually. I just filled out paperwork and gave them some additional info on my availability and so forth. I finished much sooner than I thought I would, which is why I am home now. I need to go pick up Brother in 15 minutes. My friend called while I was driving home and told me a couple of things about the agency that make me not-so-thrilled. She said she met several families through other avenues who said they were listed w/ this agency at the time she was looking for a job and the agency never told them about her. That's not good. In the past this agency has refused to list nannies with their own children. Now they will accept us as applicants, but by no means do they go to bat for us like my favorite agent does. My favorite agent strongly encourages families to interview me and find out exactly how often DS is around before they decide "NO". This agency wants the families to say no before they meet me so we don't waste anyone's time. And I MUST go get that TB test done. Whatever.

I think this agency prefers to work with younger, inexperienced nannies so they can call the shots. I call my own shots. We'll see how it goes!

You give 'em heck, Elizabeth! ;) :cheer2:

Off to ballet, and then the 3 of us have dental appts. Be back this evening.

I went to the dentist, too, this a.m. Unfortunately I have to go back again in a couple of weeks for a filling. :headache:

no sooner had I typed it than I got a phone call....the computer hasn't seen our app. yet. The broker seems to think it's going to be okay...but I won't be happy until I hear the yes!!

Continued :wizard: for everything, Theresa! You better let us know the minute it comes in!
Tragedy on Virginia Tech campus. 21 people were shot.

Please keep the campus, community and families in your prayers.

I just can't believe this. So senseless. Many prayers for all those affected.:grouphug:

Like I didn't have enough stress:

Cassidy has been asked to prom!!!!!!!!!!!

Does God let up on the stress????

Oh my! :scared1:

You can handle it, Mom - we all know you can. And we all read that piece that Cassidy wrote - sounds like she's got a good head on her shoulders. :goodvibes

Oh, Jen -- champ was such a gorgeous dog! Again, I'm so sorry... please know you and your family are in my thoughts!

Ditto! :grouphug:

NO!! You should not be saying congrats to Cassidy.....but I gotta say I admire my kid...he's a senior...she goes after what she wants. :rotfl2:

:rotfl:

Jen, Champ was a beautiful dog, thank you for sharing. We are all here for you :grouphug:

Has anyone ever ordered the long sleeved polo shirts from Disney Shopping? Do they fit true to size? I want to order us each one to wear Christmas Day. They are on sale for $7.99, plus 15% off.

Besides Gary's Grumpy hat he bought last time he went(does this tell you anything :rotfl: ), this will probably be the only Disney item he will wear for our trip(he already agreed to wear the polo because they have one in hunter green :thumbsup2 ).

Well, I'm back...and it only took me almost all day (between work, of course) to get caught up!

Our trip this weekend went pretty well - Jonathan began coming down with the head cold crud on Friday, and has been feeling it all weekend. Still, everyone got together, and for the most part, things went off without a hitch. I posted a little earlier about my nephew's behavior, but once things really began going downhill where he was concerned, "oh, would you look at the time? Shouldn't you be taking him home since it's past his bedtime (if he even has one)?!"

But I loved spending time with my other nieces - they are just too cute for words. I was so proud of my DN5, too. :goodvibes Jonathan and I took some video of us interacting with the charactes at LTT to show our nieces, as they've never been to WDW and are a bit nervous about meeting the characters (although they're warming up to it). So, they were watching that, and we also had footage from the P&P party parade, and Aurora came on the screen. My DN3 said "Aurora" and my DN5 said "Sleeping Beauty" at the same time. I then asked my DN5, "what's her other name?" and she promptly responded "Briar Rose." :goodvibes Someone's bringing that kid up right! :thumbsup2

Needless to say, that inspired the entire family to play an impromptu game of Disney trivia with me as the moderator, and my DN5 kicked some serious rear! :rotfl:

:sad2: Just can't understand what could drive someone to do that?????:sad1: The poor families!

Beth~ Molly loves the snow picture. She saw it and ran to our sliding door, looked out and wanted to know where our snow was.
:lmao:

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions on the costumes. Does anyone know how much they run in the parks? Just a dress only.
OK...I've still got this nasty head cold but I think the only time I looked they were something like $60? Couldn't you call BBB and ask them? Don't they have a package that includes a dress? Would that give you a rough estimate?

EMERGENCY! How long do I need to let the dark transfer paper cool before taking the parchment off? Help!!! The instructions don't say!

EMERGENCY! How long do I need to let the dark transfer paper cool before taking the parchment off? Help!!! The instructions don't say!

I usually only let mine cool about 5 minutes before taking the parchment off - but I let the shirts themselves cool for longer before moving them.

EMERGENCY! How long do I need to let the dark transfer paper cool before taking the parchment off? Help!!! The instructions don't say!

Not very long, just cool enough to touch, and peel up a corner to make sure the transfer is sticking to the shirt, iron again if needed before peeling. Hope this helps.

Sounds like a fun weekend, Lindsay!

Thanks for all the replies to my emergencies. They came in really handy on my second shirt. The first one, however, has some parchment paper stuck to it. Anyone got any easy ways to get the parchment off, or should I just chalk it up to experience, and get another shirt?

I think the entire package is $145 and I refuse to pay that much!

Does anyone have any fish recipes? John went and got his licence Sat. and I told him if he caught anything I would cook it.
