The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 24

Hi there! I can't remember the last time I posted. I'm actually at my mom's house right now, but since they're all watching a Cavs game, I thought I'd use this opportunity to let you know what we've been up to.

Alyssa has had four birthday parties, the most recent one tonight with my dad, and we're still celebrating one more time with my mom tomorrow night. I baked three cakes! I'll be sure to post some pictures later.

We had some major issues with our bipolar/schizophrenic neighbor when she went off her meds again. I know I haven't posted much about her, but this time she got her hands on a loaded gun, so it was a pretty stressful situation. Luckily (well for us anyway), she is now in a psychiatric ward, and hopefully her grown children will not allow her to move back into her house alone.

We had such a nice first Easter with Matthew. I'll post some pictures of that too, soon. Our community Easter egg hunt was the week before, when the weather was still gorgeous. I can't believe we had 60 degree weather around Christmas and it's sleeting tonight in Huron.

We researched and visited some preschool programs for Alyssa to attend next year. I'm really happy with the choice we made. She'll be in a three day program for 2 1/2 hours/day.

Matthew has seven teeth, going on eight any day now. He balks at all baby food now, and he "army crawls" all over the place. He's still not the best sleeper, but he's definitely doing much better than he was a few months ago.

As I said before, we're out-of-town right now. We're bringing my grandma back home, and she's going to spend five days with us. I hope the weather gets nice again, so we can take her to the zoo, park, etc.

I think that about covers the "big" things. It's hard to believe April is half over! I've already started planning Matthew's first birthday party, because it's going to be here before I know it!

I hope you are all doing well. I'm sorry I just can't keep up on the thread. Please keep me in the loop via PMs if you think about it. In the meantime, here's lots of :grouphug: and :wizard: for you all.

Take care!
Amy (and Kevin, Alyssa, and Matthew too) :)

It's good to see you, Amy, and I'm glad Alyssa had good b-days (loved all the pics!). I'm so glad to hear, too, that your neighbor isn't around - :wizard: :wizard: that she won't ever be on the loose again!

Just read 70 pages but still 50 pages behind. I've got to get over my not wanting to post if I'm not caught up!

Everyone has been in my thought & prayers! Things have been crazy.

Easter was way too cold and Emma was up the night before with a nasty cold so we decided to let her sleep instead of going to church. I searched for about 2 weeks for a dress she'd actually wear and then both girls wore velour pants instead.

It's been a super crazy week for me. Busy with projects at work and my family is stressed and I'm getting really cranky with this nasty weather.

My SIL is on the verge of a nervous breakdown-she's a minister so that's a 24 hour/7 days a week job and hasn't been feeling well. I think she's taking a leave of absence.

I've got 3 sisters. The oldest has the most stress dealing with my Mom. My Mom's health is pretty good but she still won't accept her colostomy (it's been 2 years) so she's in a nursing home so they can care for it. She was refusing to get out of bed at all but then one night went to the bathroom alone and said she fell. She wouldn't cooperate for an xray so they sent her to the hospital and they kept her there for observation. My sister called to see how she was and she said "I had to do something." :headache: I'm sure the state will be demanding her house be sold any day now. My Mom is accusing my sister (who has done soooooo much for her) of trying to steal all her things. That sister is also trying to sell her house. It just all so sad as she was living a full life before she got sick and now she's OK but won't do anything.:sad1: :sad1:

My next sister's MIL just had a stroke and is having "issues" with my BIL's family.

And the most serious-the sister I'm closest to-her DH physically went after their DS(18 years) and shoved my sister in the process. Her DH doesn't think he did anything wrong. They've been married 20 years and he's never touched her. She actually hasn't told me (my other sister did). She just doesn't know what to do. My heart aches for her and my 14 year old niece.

And furthering my happy mood-now this is just plain silly compared to my Dsis but it didn't help my mood any. I was searching for shorts for my May trip. I've been wearing the same 2 pairs of shorts for more than 10 years-except for the trip I was 6 months pregnant with Emma and the trip for Joe's 3rd birthday when I was too heavy and it was too cold. Who knew I was so out of style. I just want plain chino shorts that are not below the knee but longer than 6". Don't have ties or cargo pockets and sit at the waist not low waisted. I found a simular style (at an outlet) as the ones I like (Liz Claiborne) but now they are stain & wrinkle resistant so they are just too stiff and don't fall well and I hate them. I found one pair I like at Lord & Taylor by Ralph Lauren but they are $45:scared1: and I really hope this size won't fit me long. I did buy them which wasn't easy as I never pay full price for my clothes. I guess if they don't fit in the future that will a small price to pay for the weight loss. They did have a simular style at Kohl's in their cheaper Chaps branded Ralph Lauren-well they were $45 too but they were 30% off. BUT they were pink. I won't wear pink (wonder were Emma gets her pink aversion from?). I found Polo.com but they had a very light pink and red.

The kids are on vacation this week and its supposed to rain all week so I'll be coming home everyday to a very cranky house.

And to top the week off....now I've got a nasty head cold.

BUT....I'm going to Disney in 3 weeks!!!!:donald: :stitch: :dumbo: :sulley: :tigger: :figment: :goofy: :hmghost: :mickeyjum
  , Bernadette. It sounds like you definitely need your Disney trip! I hope things begin to ease up for you!

i was wondering if elin's daughter goes to v tech? i hope not but if so prayers for elin's family that her daughter if okay. also prayers said for v tech families.

jen i am sorry for your loss of you dog.

no still fighting nausesa

I'm so sorry. Wish I could help. I had severe nausea during all my pregnancies, and even with the phenergan/Unisom/B6 combination, it never fully went away, but it did become manageable! Hopefully, you and your doctor can find something that will work for you!

Jen-- I know two people who also had to say goodbye to pets recently.

Steffy-- I must have missed your post, but I wanted to add a hug to you for whatever you are going through.

Snow day for us! It was supposed to snow all day yesterday, but it just rained. Then we were supposed to get 13" evening and overnight. We ended up with about 5" (very heavy and wet), but it is still snowing here. The worry is that the snow is so heavy on the branches and power lines. We've had a couple of branches down out back. I'm not sure it really warranted a snow day, but we have used only one so far this year, so I think they were being extra careful. The higher elevations may be worse, though, and if they open schools, they have to be able to get everyone there.

This is what we woke to this morning.

Wow Beth, that looks really pretty!

We were supposed to get a foot of snow, but we have had no accumulation at all. It has been a mix of wet snow/rain all day, but nothing on the ground, at least not what I can see from my window, and it is still raining pretty hard. Yuck!

no sooner had I typed it than I got a phone call....the computer hasn't seen our app. yet. The broker seems to think it's going to be okay...but I won't be happy until I hear the yes!!

Did they give you any indication of when you would hear one way or the other?

I read and caughtu p, but dont have time to post invidually right now..thanks for al lthe hugs and good thoughts ...ill try to post a picture of champ later..have a great day

Ann Marie, sorry to hear about the hole, hope there isn't too much water damage.

:wave2: Jennifer pixiedust: that the nausea ends soon.

Elizabeth. :wizard: for the interviews.

I hopefully remember correctly that Elin's DD goes to Virginia Commonwealth Univ., which is in Richmond.

The shootings were at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. They are now reporting 31 dead, including the gunman. What senselessness.

i was wondering if elin's daughter goes to v tech? i hope not but if so prayers for elin's family that her daughter if okay. also prayers said for v tech families.

jen i am sorry for your loss of you dog.

Anne Marie~ I hope the water damage isn't too significant.

Jennifer(Bear)~ :wizard: that you start feeling better sooner rather than later.

Theresa~ :wizard: for the loan. It is nerve wracking. Have fun prom dress shopping!!

Beth~ Molly loves the snow picture. She saw it and ran to our sliding door, looked out and wanted to know where our snow was.

Jen -- I missed your original post! I'm so sorry about your dog :flower3:  How are you feeling today?

On a completely less important note, I checked at TDS for your antenna topper. I asked the clerk, and she thinks they will get some in May, but they get a new truck each Monday (at least) and it could come any time. I'll keep an eye out!

Tragedy on Virginia Tech campus. 21 people were shot.

Please keep the campus, community and families in your prayers.
When I was at the elem. school picking up Nicholas a mom was in getting her child too and then was heading down to Tech. Her daughter is a student there and one of the shootings was in the dorm 2 floors above her room. 32 people dead as of now. So sad.

Oh, Jen -- champ was such a gorgeous dog! Again, I'm so sorry... please know you and your family are in my thoughts!

i was wondering if elin's daughter goes to v tech? i hope not but if so prayers for elin's family that her daughter if okay. also prayers said for v tech families.

jen i am sorry for your loss of you dog.
No, her dd does not go to Tech, but I'm sure she has friends that do.
