Sorry I've been MIA tonight! It seems like Jacob has come down with the stomach bug that's going around. He's been throwing up since about 7:00 tonight. Poor little guy! And then there's Leslie, our smog level has risen so much that it's considered "unhealthy" to go outside. It's made her breathing really raspy, and she's coughing horribly! Luckily, Katie and Mary seem to have escaped it all for now! I'm keeping Jacob quarantined, so hopefully that will help. I don't know, though! Wish us luck, and pixie dust for a peaceful night!

YUCK! I hope that both kiddos are feeling better today and that Katie and Mary are still healthy.

Glynis - What a beautiful couple you guys are! Your cousin is very talented! The cake is wonderful. Hmm. More cake. This is about the 4th day I have been hungry for cake! I am sorry for your sister. I hope she is in a happy relationship now!

just wanted to let you guys know..my grandma is home!!! We just drove an hour to visit her and she looks..okay..
She thanked her doctor for saving her life and he held her hand and said they wreent sure they would be able to, but hes glad he did!
thanks so much for the prayers--they worked!!
I was SO happy to read this!:grouphug:

:wave2: Hi. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.:santa: I have been gone for a long time and probably will never catch up so I hope everything is going well for everyone.:goodvibes My computer broke.:badpc: and seems like it will stay that way. I am borrowing a laptop from Mike's office until they need it back. Hopefully not for a long time.:rolleyes1 I had stored all the DDA contact info. on my computer so wasn't able to call to let anyone know so sorry if I seemed to drop off the face of the earth. I want to thank everyone for the wonderful Christmas cards they have been such a blessing. We actually got snow here yesterday so the boys have been really enjoying it and Effie didn't know what to think of it all. This was his first time seeing real snow.
Hope everyone's trips were magical.
Christi
Hi Chisti! So nice to see you!!!

Good morning.

I posted this on the CB but thought I would ask here as well.

Dana is up for a promotion:cool1: , but it would require us to move from NYC to CA. :sad1: I have never been to California & would appreciate any info you can give. (Best home location, good school districts, etc) The area of his location would be LA, Long Beach, Orange Co, Fresno, & Sacramento.
I am not thrilled at this prospect as I love, love, love NYC but it is a good move up & I have to at least keep my mind open, right?
:grouphug: Hope things work out for the best! :wizard:

I wish I could help with flowers, but one of Alan's sisters was a florist, and she did all our flowers for us as a wedding present. It was nice, but she totally ignored everything I wanted and just did what she wanted to do. Grrr. Finally, I just gave up trying to communicate with her and let her do what she wanted. I recently told Alan that he owes me the wedding of my dreams. The only thing I got that I wanted for my wedding was the groom!

My sister and I had a double wedding, and she basically charged in and took over everything. Of course, 18 months later she was divorced, and I got stuck with her ex in all my pictures, etc. Oh well. Maybe for my 25th anniversary, I'll get the party I really wanted!
Vow renewal at WDW sounds perfect to me.!

Thank you for reminding me about the fountains at EPCOT. They liked EPCOT when we were there before. Loved the Garden Grill. I suppose the baby could do SE? The Nemo ride and maybe Journeys into the Imagination? I really want them to go on Soarin'. I don't think my 3 y/o DGS can go on that either, so maybe he will help me watch his cousin while the parents go and then I can ride. I keep forgetting my DD will be there too! My Dsil and my DGD will be doing TT and MS, the orange side. My DD, DS and DDil did MS once and never again!
Emma really loves those fountains. I bet she would have been content to watch them for about an hour. She was a late talker and only had about 10 words at that time even though she was 21 months. She came home from Disney with 2 new words. One was moon as the moon was full and really spectacular when we were there. We would watch it rise over the CR from our Poly LV room. The other was from the fountains- "WOW". A friend of mine suggested she always knew wow before but the fountains were the first thing that ever really wowed her. :lmao:

Mattie is 3 and Donny is 5. Donny is old enough to know better. Mattie is not too bad when she's by herself. In fact, I babysit her every week, and when Donny is not around, she's a joy! She is polite and respectful (mostly because I make her), but she's learning something from me. Donny is pretty much a lost cause.

I don't like to babysit him, but his parents watched Katie and Jacob while we were in WDW, so I feel like I owe them some "kid swapping." I just forget that I have to keep an eye on Donny all the time. That kid is just a menace!!!

At least I remembered to hide the crayons and scissors! Donny is horrible with scissors. He's cut Mattie's hair 5 times, cut up all their furniture, and destroyed their trampoline.

Alan says the bookshelves will be easy to fix. I hope he's right. I told Donny that my house is not his house, and he may be able to destroy his house, but not mine. From now on, he will only be allowed to sit on the couch at my house. No playing. I told him he's going to have to earn the right to play while at my house, and that means following my rules, being polite, and showing me that I can trust him.

I'm just glad this day of babysitting is over.
:scared1: You poor thing. Sounds like you know how to controll him. I hope he smartens up at your house.

Glynis - What a beautiful couple you guys are! Your cousin is very talented! The cake is wonderful. Hmm. More cake. This is about the 4th day I have been hungry for cake! I am sorry for your sister. I hope she is in a happy relationship now!

Yup, she's in a wonderful marriage now! 2nd time was the charm!

And it was wonderful cake! We froze the top layer for our first anniversary, and it was still wonderful then!

Hi all. I have been so busy with the WPASADI contest I have not had time to check in. I have tried to read along whenever I get a chance.

Not sure if I ever posted after we went to court on the bankruptcy but every thing went well for us. Now we just have to wait till it is discharged at the end of February.

I also want to thank everyone for the lovely Christmas cards that were sent my way. They sure did brighten my days.
So nice to see you too. I think of you often!:grouphug:

It was alright. I'm still sick, my poor nose is rubbed so dry and raw from tissues it isn't funny. I'm even using the lotion ones and constanly rubbing my nose with various moisturizers and things but it doesn't help. I should head to bed but am too lazy to get out of the chair I am sitting in.
:wizard: Hope you're all better now.

Oh, that reminds me. I received Nicky from Karen. Although he won't get to go to WDW he should be here for my ultrasound!!
Will you find out what you're having?

Ok who wants to read my story & tell me how foolish I am for wanting to submit it lol
I'd love to read them all.

I   looking at all of your pictures and dreaming. You are all such beautiful brides and have handsome grooms. Someday my prince will come.:thumbsup2
:wizard: Yes he will!!

I don't generally believe in spanking either (except in instances where my kid has done something potentially life threatening), but something needs to happen to this kid. The basic form of discipline in their house is the time out. Unfortunately, Donny just thinks that's funny. Except when he's at my house. Time out in my house is in the "naughty spot". My laundry room with the door closed and the lights off. It's not fun! Donny has spent time there at my house, and it seems to work...at least while he's here. Then he goes home, and there are no "real" consequences for his actions there. Last time he cut Mattie's hair, the only thing his parents did was give him a buzz cut to show him how it felt to have his hair cut by someone else. Too bad he liked it!
They should have let Mattie cut his hair!

Since we waited, my MIL was 45 before she was a grandmother (only 3 years older than I am now)! She also had friends who waited and have children just a few years older then her grandchildren.
My brother was a grandfather at 42. My DH was a father for the first time 2 months shy of 44.

Are you carrying wide or all in front? With DS I looked like I was trying to shoplift a basketball, but from the back I still had a waist!:rotfl2:
I carried Joe really high and he stay up high until 30 minutes before his birth.

So we bought a new car today.:drive:

It is a 2007 Nissan Altima. Dark grey. I looked at the '06 and was NOT impressed - my 2003 looked nicer as far as interior, and the body style wasn't drastically different, either. The '07 has MUCH better safety features, and the price they wanted for the '06 wasn't that great. We would have only lowered our payments by $30 per month! Now our payments are $25 MORE, but we will own the car at the end. And we might refinance to shave a few dollars off - the interest rate sounds high to me, but the other place I called could only beat it by 1%, so I want to look a bit more.

They told us they only made a profit of $32 on our purchase. I don't believe that for a second, but whatever. Sister gets to ride to Tae Kwon Do in the NEW car! I had to take DH's car to pick them up at preschool because we weren't through all the paperwork yet. I KNEW they couldn't get us in and out in 2 hours. DH stayed there and signed everything, then he brought the car to me. Brother is at a school thing wiht Dadboss, so he will have to wait until Monday for his first ride.:)
Congrats on the new car!

So I got this in my email from my Aunt, after the initial tears I thought of Daniel and hoped that he something similar.

What follows is a message from Vicki Pierce about her nephew James' funeral (he was serving our country in Iraq):

"I'm back, it was certainly a quick trip, but I have to also say it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. There is a lot to be said for growing up in a small town in Texas . The service itself was impressive with wonderful flowers and sprays, a portrait of James, his uniform and boots, his awards and ribbons. There was lots of military brass and an eloquent (though inappropriately longwinded) Baptist preacher. There were easily 1000 people at the service, filling the church sanctuary as well as the fellowship hall and spilling out into the parking lot.

However, the most incredible thing was what happened following the service on the way to the cemetery. We went to our cars and drove to the cemetery escorted by at least 10 police cars with lights flashing and some other emergency vehicles, with Texas Rangers handling traffic. Everyone on the road who was not in the procession, pulled over, got out of their cars, and stood silently and respectfully, some put their hands over their hearts.

When we turned off the highway suddenly the re were teenage boys along both sides of the street about every 20! feet o r so, all holding large American flags on long flag poles, and again with their hands on their hearts. We thought at first it was the Boy Scouts or 4H club or something, but it continued ... for two and a half miles. Hundreds of young people, standing silently on the side of the road with flags. At one point we passed an elementary school, and all the children were outside, shoulder to shoulder holding flags . kindergartners, handicapped, teachers, staff, everyone. Some held signs of love and support. Then came teenage girls and younger boys, all holding flag! s. Then adults. Then families. All standing silently on the side of the road. No one spoke, not even the very young children.

The military presence..at least two generals, a fist full of colonels, and representatives from every branch of the service, plus the color guard who attended James, and some who served with him . was very impressive and respectful, but the love and pride from this community who had lost one of their own was the most amazing thing I've ever been privileged to witness.

I've attached some pictures, some are blurry (we were moving), but you can get a small idea of what this was like. Thanks so much for all the prayers and support."

Thanks so much for sharing this. It was very moving.

Has anyone heard from Paula lately? I would love to know how the trip to DL was.

She is on my to call list for tonight....I'll let you know later!!

I talked to her earlier today...both her and DH are sick right now so the conversation was very brief...even though she told me to say that she has this massive headache and if I left it at that, you'd all thought she was getting over a hangover...so she's getting better! (Or as she puts it: "I'm not dead yet!")

My favorite part of the reception was the cake. My cousin made it as a wedding present, and it was exactly what I wanted. It was a vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream filling. It was decorated with flowers in all spring colors and the top tier was held up by 3 champagne flutes covering 3 rosebuds. My cake topper was one my dad found of a little boy and girl playing dress up! It was perfect for Alan and me (I still have it).

Glynis, you and Alan were and still are a beautiful couple. I absolutely love the cake too!

Well, Brother is mad at me today. I told him he couldn't bring any sort of drink other than water in my new car. He decided that news was worthy of a fit. I have discovered that the contours of the new car are different than the old one, so he can kick the back of my seat without really trying. That meant I had to take his shoes off. He hates it when I confiscate his shoes. All this just to go get Sister and come straight home - 20 minutes, tops. The kids get so tired on the weekends I always know that Mondays will be challenging.

I called the dealership to tell them we have bubbles in the tint and condensation in that one rear light. I am taking it to them on Friday to see what they can do. The sales guy did call and leave a voice mail for me this afternoon. I don't think he has my cell #.:confused3 I called him back, but I had to leave a message.

I called the advice nurse to ask her about the spots on DS. She said it doesn't really sound like ringworm. She told me to switch to cortisone cream instead of anti-fungal and bring him in on Thursday if it isn't better.

Elizabeth-thank you so much for the gift certificate for my mom...she was surprised when i showed her the mail!

I am glad it got there! I am always paranoid about sending things like that because you just never know if they will make it! At least if it got lost or stolen none of us would have been devastated!:rotfl:

My cousin sent DS $50 Disney Dollars for his birthday 2 years ago. She made the MONUMENTAL mistake of going to one of those "mail centers" and telling them what she was mailing. They convinced her to just send it plain first class, no insurance, no tracking. Well, I never got them.:sad1: I thought she forgot to mail them, she thought I forgot to mention that we received them. By the time we realized someone stole them it was way too late to do anything about it. Not that anything could have been done...
