Hi Everyone!

I am sure it has been asked a thousand times, but with 6396 pages to look at I am never going to find the answer.

What does DDA stand for?

Thanks!

:welcome:

Soooo cute!!!!!

Steffy-let me tell you a bit about Emma-not quite the same but.....

She was so shy at that age. ....
I also agree with whoever said this shouldn't be your problem! You should still have a great trip!

   Bernadette!   Thank you so much! My son said the crying when he goes to other people is normal according to their pediatrician. He said his son is healthy, well loved, smart, plays well and is growing fine as far the doctor is concerned. The doctor doesn't feel my DGS needs any more socialization, and that is good enough for me. :goodvibes

I believe that if I visit more often, he will get used to me. He will let my DD hold him for a moment, so there is hope.

I know we'll have a great time at Disney. We will be celebrating their 10th anniversary. I have an ADR at CG that night. I'm hoping that the baby will go to sleep and they will go to PI that night. The last time we were all in DW, they loved PI. :goodvibes

Thank you for reminding me about the fountains at EPCOT. They liked EPCOT when we were there before. Loved the Garden Grill. I suppose the baby could do SE? The Nemo ride and maybe Journeys into the Imagination? I really want them to go on Soarin'. I don't think my 3 y/o DGS can go on that either, so maybe he will help me watch his cousin while the parents go and then I can ride. I keep forgetting my DD will be there too! My Dsil and my DGD will be doing TT and MS, the orange side. My DD, DS and DDil did MS once and never again!

Okay, well, I'm not going to fall asleep at my computer again tonight, so nitey nite DDA!!:dance3:

I have one picture of John and I at the alter, but it is all dark. I am hoping to take it to a photo shop and see if they can do anything with it. I saw a couple of places online that they can fix the picture without a negative.

I did not read this before I posted about us not having a photographer. I would love to have vow renewals & get proper pictures. We have a few, but most are at the reception.

Well, by the looks of the extended forecast, I'm not going to need shorts next weekend. :sad1: Oh well, less to pack, right?

I don't think my 3 y/o DGS can go on that either, so maybe he will help me watch his cousin while the parents go and then I can ride.
Alyssa was tall enough for Soarin when she was 3, and she loved it. The height requirement is 40".

K. Just have to vent for a minute or a couple of kids are going to get it! I'm babysitting my niece and nephew while their mother is at a state PTA convention. It just frustrates me to no end that they are not taught manner, or basic what's right and wrong and then taken out into public. This little boy just delights in destroying things. He and his sister just destroyed my bookshelves in our family room. I'm hoping Alan can fix them easily, but it's so frustrating. Each time they come, they are told the rules, "Don't go into rooms where the doors are closed. Don't touch the bookshelves. Only get one toy out at a time, and when you are done, put it away. Don't write on the walls." Nothing too hard, and they know the rules by heart. Grrrrr. The sad thing is, I'll tell his mom what he did, and she'll just laugh. She honestly thinks that's what boys do.

I actually don't know why I'm so surprised. This is a family that has had to replace their flooring in their house 13 times in the last 15 years because their children like to destroy things. I can't wait to take them home!!!!!!!

Glynis,

I know family is family, but when a family member would continue to do damage in my home, I would politely tell the mother that no way will I watch her children and have them ruin things in my home. She should have to pay for the damage to the bookshelves.
If kids did such damage to the flooring, I think after the third time, I would not do any more repairs in just one area and then just wait until they are about say 13 years old and want to have friends over. They would then maybe say something about the unfinished area and I would politely remind them that after fixing it in the past, they ruined it again, so I was waiting until they moved out :rotfl:
Just might get the little buggers thinking. JMHO

Anne Marie - I don't have any advice on CA, but just wanted to say :thumbsup2 for Dana and  for both of you as you make this important decision.

Everyone I've ever known that has lived in CA has loved it, so that has to count for something! I know the cost of living is pretty steep there, but I can't imagine it would be much different than NYC.

I second this! CONGRATS, Dana! :wizard: for the decision!

How old are these kids, Glynis? I know you probably hate doing this, beings as though they are family, but I would refuse to babysit, until they learned to respect other people's things. The way it sounds, that's probably not going to be anytime soon. I hope Alan can fix things. :wizard:

Mattie is 3 and Donny is 5. Donny is old enough to know better. Mattie is not too bad when she's by herself. In fact, I babysit her every week, and when Donny is not around, she's a joy! She is polite and respectful (mostly because I make her), but she's learning something from me. Donny is pretty much a lost cause.

I don't like to babysit him, but his parents watched Katie and Jacob while we were in WDW, so I feel like I owe them some "kid swapping." I just forget that I have to keep an eye on Donny all the time. That kid is just a menace!!!

At least I remembered to hide the crayons and scissors! Donny is horrible with scissors. He's cut Mattie's hair 5 times, cut up all their furniture, and destroyed their trampoline.

Alan says the bookshelves will be easy to fix. I hope he's right. I told Donny that my house is not his house, and he may be able to destroy his house, but not mine. From now on, he will only be allowed to sit on the couch at my house. No playing. I told him he's going to have to earn the right to play while at my house, and that means following my rules, being polite, and showing me that I can trust him.

I'm just glad this day of babysitting is over.

How fun!!! You'll have to tell us all about it! When do you see the show?

I'm with you! Although, I don't think it really matters to the kids. They range in age from 16 to 3. The 16 year old has no idea how to take care of anything around the house. She can't load a dishwasher, doesn't know how to do laundry, etc. The only thing she can do is change diapers. From the time she was 5 that was her job! It's a totally crazy family, but for some reason, Alan thinks we need to continue to watch their kids. Payback for watching ours while we were in WDW. Don't think that didn't give me nightmares, however, it was that, or pull them out of school for 5 days to stay with my sister.

It amazes me that they know nothing about housework. My house is not spotless, but at least it's liveable! Katie knows how to separate her own laundry, she folds and puts away her own clothes. All my kids know how to put their dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and put their dirty clothes in the laundry basket. I just can't imagine growing up and not knowing the basics. The only thing I didn't know how to do was cook. I'm not making that mistake with my kids. Katie is learning how to cook now, and Jacob will start soon, too!

Hi Christi. It's good to see you!
It's nice to be back online. I think Mike got sick of me bugging him every night for attention since I didn't have a computer. So he brought one home from the office.:rotfl2: I don't know if I'll ever be able to wade through all the pages since the beginning of December. How have things been going for you and your kids? Is your ex being civil?

Glynis - loved your recount of your day in Epcot! I felt like I was right there with you - and you guys accomplished a lot! Sounds like great fun.

I think I missed this somehow! I'm going to have to go back to look for it. I wish you could still find a person's posts easily.

I did forget to mention that Alan broke down and bought a turkey leg both on our MK day, and on our Epcot day. I hate the things, but Alan just loves them! In Epcot, he was tearing off chunks to eat them, and just about died, as the meat was raw and dripping blood!!!

He took it back to the cart and they quickly exchanged it for another one. I was glad I hadn't eaten any of it! It was really yucky! I just don't like the smoked taste of them. Alan always buys one for a meal in DL and he and the kids pick it clean. Not me, thank you very much!!!

YUCK!!! I have never tried a turkey leg, but I don't like smoked meats.

Hi Christi, so nice to hear from you! I hope you can keep the laptop for awhile so you can chat with us.
Yes it's nice to chat with someone who actually chats back. Mike would just end up nodding his head a lot I almost was tempted to slap him a few times to see if he was paying attention.:guilty:

I posted it last night. Right now I'm working on my last day. Should be posted tonight!

That sounds so sweet!

Gary proposed to me on the beach at sunset  We lived in CA. at the time & flew home to be married. I had to ship everything to my moms for the wedding. Our wedding was on Halloween weekend. After our reception a few of us went to a couple bars(Gary's dad owns one) & everyone would ask us if we really just got married or if we were dressed for Halloween :rotfl:

We never have had a honeymoon, just a couple nights at a hotel. We were happy just being home with family & friends. But our trip to Europe will be like our very overdue honeymoon :thumbsup2

I didn't get a proposal, but I did get a honeymoon in WDW. Of course, I paid for it! :rotfl: I am a year older than dh, and he was in a 5-year program in college, so I had been working 2 years when we got married (exactly a week after he graduated).

YUCK!!! I have never tried a turkey leg, but I don't like smoked meats.

I am with you on that one! Icky!!!!!

Besides, why spend your money on smoked meat when churros and Mickey bars are so much more yummy!!!!

Good morning.

I posted this on the CB but thought I would ask here as well.

Dana is up for a promotion:cool1: , but it would require us to move from NYC to CA. :sad1: I have never been to California & would appreciate any info you can give. (Best home location, good school districts, etc) The area of his location would be LA, Long Beach, Orange Co, Fresno, & Sacramento.
I am not thrilled at this prospect as I love, love, love NYC but it is a good move up & I have to at least keep my mind open, right?

Congratulations to dana..i am no help with any of the california things, but good luck making your decision!
