here is Nick's design. He hopes that you like it and is reading over my shoulder to see what you all have to say.

Wow! Nick, that design is just awesome! Way to go :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :cool1:

I love my Ford Explorer, but I HATE the fact that it does not have 4WD. Thanks to the lovely Ice, I cannot get back up the drive. So again my vehicle is sitting at the bottom, which I do not like & we are suppose to get more. All dh can say is why do you always drive the wrong vehicle? well gee I guess I just did not think about it

Ok I am done venting, I really did have a good day at work :)

I am sure my neighbors got a good chuckle if they were watching me trying to walk up my driveway

How is everyone else?

Well, we just got off the phone with the hospital--no change, but she is still getting blood transfusions, as she lost a lot of blood with the 2nd surgery.
I am supposed to have a dentist appontment at noon tmorrow but im going to call as soon as i wake up and see if i can cancel it without the last minute fee, due to the circumstances..i dont know if they will budge on it, but its worth a try. If that works, i will be at the hospital for alot of the day, im sure..i am babysitting at 530, unless things with Grandma change.
Thanks again for your prayers, thoughts and support
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: Glad to read you were able to cancel your appointment and spend time with Grandma.

Yes, good idea. I will check there.
Any luck?

:rotfl:

No I didn't see any booths, but I did see empty boxes broken down and behind a trash can at the local WalMart.

When the girls are out they just set up a table and never ask anyone if they would like to buy. The adult(s) with them sell the cookies for them. :confused3
We let our girls sell them at the booth but they did have adult help with it as they were only in the 1st grade last year.

Abi's usually the lowest sales...but last year she did it all her own and sold 75 boxes presale and then was the best booth salesman...the girls averaged enough to be a super sales troop!!
OK, I've got to admit I do sell a lot of cookies for Lizzy at my office.

i want thin mints and carmel delights

jen your grandmas in my thoughts

maybe a movie tomorrow and surfing net for apartments
How many?

it was getting a little furstrating. I would pick up the card and ask her what color it was. she consitantly got orange right. purple was constantly pink. Oh well iat least it is a good way to help her with her colors.
When Emma was learning her colors all reds were pink until it was maroon.

Good evening DDA!

It is very nasty outside. As I was leaving work, the ice started coming down. It should be fun getting my doors open in the morning.

Some not so smart kid or kids left a homemade bomb in the boys bathroom at Garrett's school yesterday. Thank goodness it went off after school & most everyone was out of the building. I am sure they thought this was very funny  This really makes me angry & scared. The bomb was not the kind that could start a fire, but had anyone been in the bathroom, they could have received chemical burns. This has never happened here before & the school is very upset as well. I do hope they find who did this. The school has a no tolerance rule & very likely this person or persons will no longer be attending this school. I spoke with the principle today & he said the police are already talking to some students who might be involved. Too scary, I mean what are they thinking????????????

My friends son that died will definitely be arriving home Sunday. I have to work, but the motorcade will be going by my place of work. So I can at least be outside when they go by :sad1:
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
:wizard: Hope the roads were OK for you getting to work.
We've had lots of problems in the schools here-bullets taped to the doors-bomb threats....:confused3

I remember selling door to door also. Unfortunately that is just too dangerous in today's society. :sad2:
I agree-that is why at this age I do a lot of the selling.

well I am supposed to work monday. but my job never closes what gets me as we do inducions. well when we had the last ice storm the people who were scheduled to be induced still drove to the hospital for their inductions. now those are some idiots. I would not go out in it unless I absoutly had to.
I can see being 9 months pregnant and really wanted to be induced no matter what the weather. I was scheduled with Emma. I think I would have walked to the hospital if I had to that morning.:rotfl:

Busy! When bad weather is forecasted , everyone has to get out & fill up their tanks, get milk, ect.
My FIL was a Dr and he used to complain about all the little old ladies who would rush out to buy milk, lettuce and anchovies.

Becky - does the troop get the money? Bernadette - Can Lizzy opt for "Cookie Dough" or something similar? Around here if you sell at the 2nd prize level or higher, the individual girl can choose "Cookie Dough" instead of the prized. They get a certain amount per 50 boxes sold (or something like that). That money can then be used towards camp, council events, activities, etc. Nice for the families that can't really afford some of the extras though a bonus to the troop sounds good too.
Last year Lizzy got both prices and "cookie dough" but we never used it.

I was at an age that I got totally wrapped up in the Steven Stayner story. All night that's all I've thought of when I think about how Shawn will adjust to life. Steven's story and family story just didn't end well even though he was found so I pray Shawn and his family have a better time adjusting.
Shawn's step dad did a great job at the press conference.

Robin told the reporter for the newspaper that she hoped Daniel would get a Heros Welcome home, not just for him but for all that have lost their lives & for the ones still fighting. How does this sound for the reader board:

A Heros Welcome
Daniel B Miller Jr
Very nice.:grouphug:

For now none. Ideally, we would be unschoolers, but I don't think I'm quite trusting of myself to say that fully yet. Plus, I don't think the "real" unschoolers would call me one fully either since I do suggest things and try to help her learn particular things that I think of as well as what she asks about. Instead, I think we will be more of a child-led subject and interest based style molding things around whatever topic she is interested in at the time. As it is, she ended up learning alot about the life cylce of a tree in the fall as she kept asking why the leaves turned colors. Granted she doesn't understand really how the tree makes chlorophyl (sp?), but at least knows that it does and that makes the leaves green. I don't really believe in workbooks being assigned, though I'm not opposed to them being around if she wants to use them. Phil and I are both bigger into actual accounts of history rather than just textbooks. I just really don't see me ever purchasing much "official" curiculum, but can see loads of books on all things all around.

After that rambling...what are you considering?
You should check out the book Look What I Did With a Leaf. It is really wonderful and available on Amazon-maybe your library has it?

Oh, I didn't quite catch up quickly enough to see the goodnights. I had a great time with my sister at the church thing tonight! I think that it was the first time since months before Terra was born that I got to spend an evening alone with other women. We met for dinner at one woman's house with a group of 8. Then all of the groups met at the church for dessert and a devotional lead by another woman. Plus, she and her 16yo sang a beautiful song and we played a couple of "ice breaker" games. It was SO nice to just be able to sit and talk with other women for an evening without having to worry about kids. Of course, I could have done without the 12 phone calls from my husband, but then that is why I left Terra in my mother's charge, not his. I can't help that he chose to come down and decided not to try to get back upstairs alone.

The woman who spoke over dessert was sharing about the true, life-long friendships that she has made over the years and how important it is to really nurture them. Some friends you just know are going to be around for a long long time. It was another reminder how thankful I am for the DDA.

On that note, it is past my bedtime. Thank you all for your time and your friendship. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. :grouphug:
How great that you were able to get a night with the girls.

It's raining pretty hard here. I have a real dilemma with this forecast. I'm supposed to be heading out of here this morning to visit my parents in the Buffalo area (and return their dog to them). The weather report for Buffalo and Rochester indicate up to 6" of snow Sunday into Monday, and we are supposed to have a wintry mix with sleet and freezing rain here all weekend. I NEED to be at work on Tuesday morning, so I can't stay in Buffalo an extra day. I don't want to take risks, especially with the kids, but I don't know if this weather is really going to happen.

Beth
I am so happy to read later on that you decided to stay home-safe & sound.

10. Do you like to watch cartoons? (not because you have children, if you didn't have children would you still watch them?) No
Really? I'm not sure you're the right one for my coworker. He loves the old Mickey cartoons.:lmao:

Congrats, Deb and Chris! Both your logos made it into the twelve in the poll! How do I know which one to vote for?

Mine didn't make it. Here it is:
Logo-100WDW3-smaller2.jpg

And here is the one I didn't enter. I decided that it was too complex to be a "logo" but looking at the others in the poll, I think I should have gone with this one.
Logo-100WDW2x2.jpg
WOW!!! I like yours so much better than many of those chosen.

Well, I finished one of my reports at 12:30 this morning and was back up at 5:00 working on the second. Other than that I plan to do nothing today except maybe a little bit of grocery shopping. I am TIRED!

Tomorrow I teach in the a.m. and then we have to take Kristin back to college in the afternoon. I am going to miss her so much.

Hi Jen! I logged off last night right after I posted. I'm sitting here very disappointed! We were supposed to go out for a nice dinner tonight for Randy's birthday, but we're getting the ice storm earlier than expected. I'm going to try running in to Dallas to pick up his birthday cake before we are homebound.

How are you doing today?
Happy Birthday Randy!:cake:

I was looking on the budget board and found this for best buy. book lights with tink, ariel and lighting mcqueen for 2.74 plus they had somecolor changing night lights for 2.74 and a couple of handheld games ariel, cars and toy story for 2.74.
Thought I would let you know.
I should go check those out. Santa brought Lizzy the tink book light.

and now it is up to 65! I LOVE OUR WINTER WEATHER.... :goodvibes
Someone at my office has said-"this is the coldest summer we've ever had":rotfl2:

Actually, I did, Jennifer! I had to go to the bank and the post office this morning (mailed a package to Littleton, Colorado ;) ) and it was so nice out that I decided to take a walk downtown. It was beautiful!

Stopped into one of my favorite shops downtown and bought a new jacket and matching shell on sale. Even better! :goodvibes

I am seriously thinking of taking a nap now. I NEVER nap, but Ithink I will end up really cranky if I don't. :rotfl:
Sounds like a nice day. Hope you got your nap.

Wow I would love to look out my window & see that, sounds very calming.

Swan is out there in the lake - apparently the weather isn't bothering him. He looks so pretty. The trees are all bare and the water is gray. He looks very majestic with his white feathers against the dreary backdrop. I love that my window overlooks the lake. There are 2 swans, but they are only together about half of the time. I usually just see one.

My logo made the top 12!! I'm so excited. Well Chris's did too, but I'll ignore that fact

here is the link

Nice job Nick! I really love how it looks like Tink is making the fireworks.

I am never going to be able to catch up with you all, and it makes me feel like a heel that I'm never around to give personal :wizard: and :grouphug: anymore. Why didn't you warn me that I would have my hands full with two kids?!! ;) :goodvibes

Seriously though, I miss you, and once Matthew learns that sleep is a good thing, I hope to be able to post in the evening again.

As you can see from my signature, I took Alyssa and Matthew for some new professional shots. I'm trying to upload a few to Photobucket right now, and hopefully I'll have a chance to post them this weekend.

I'll try my best to be back soon! :)
Nice to see you. Great new photo. Santa brought those rubber ducky PJ's to Lizzy.

BTW-the 3rd is SO much easier!!!
