Terra's "bribe" was Build a Bear. She really wanted to go so I jumped on the potty idea right then and promised that after she had dry panties for 2 weeks. We went straight to the store from there to pick out panties. From there, she was set. Less than 3 weeks later we were back building her bear. The panties were definitely a key factor as she had been wearing pullups since about 15mo just because they fit her better.

That is my hope too...
Have a great trip!!!!! I love last minute trips!! That is why I am hoping if DH changes his mind about or '07 and '08 trip that we will just do AP's instead of a CRO package and that I can convince him to do a last minute quickie like this...

Colby's bribe is a trip to WDW. We aren't going until 2007, but he tells us every day how much he wants to go back. Now we tell him that Mickey told us he can't go back until he is completely potty trained. I also bribe hime with a quarter each time he does #2 on the potty. He likes to spend his quarters in the machines at the bowling alley while his brothers are doing their bowling league. I'm sure he will be potty trained long before we go back to WDW, but if that is what he really wants it will certainly motivate him.

I like this one too! Kyle has a dinosaur piggy bank. You put the money in his mouth and you see it go down his winding throat to get to the "bank" in his tummy. He loves it! That just might work...

Another thought on the potty training....I agree that when they are ready they will do it. However, I also think that you can miss that readiness window. At some point they get past the readiness to the "I just don't want to do it" stage. I think this is where some gentle pushiness is needed. They are by far ready but just don't want to be bothered by it. There seems to be an emotional attachment to diapers. Nighttime is a totally different story though. Like Kate said, that just comes with time. Luckily, mine never needed to get up in the middle of the night to go. Drinks are limited to a little bit of water at teeth brushing time, and they can sleep till morning without having to go.

Hi! I'm trying to come up with a creative idea for my son's 100 days of school project. He is in K-2 and is 5 yo., so it has to be something according to his age. I mean, I don't want it to look like his parents did it all for him, although we are allowed to work together as a family on this. His classroom teacher will give a prize to the best 3 projects. I know there's a lot of creative people in this board and I'll really appreciate your ideas. A Disney themed project would be great but any other theme may do it too.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the hugs and pixie dust for Kaelyn!! They must have worked! Her fever is down to 101 today. She had us scared though last night. No matter what we did, her fever was hanging around 105-106 :earseek: We even went and bought a new thermometer thinking that maybe the old one wasn't working properly, but it was. The Motrin didn't cut it, Tylenol didn't cut it, cool baths weren't working. Called the doc and she said to give her both at the same time. That finally worked.

Welcome home, Tom! Sounds like Leighanna had a wonderful time!! ::MinnieMo

Tink2020, I hope you feel better soon. :wizard:

Yay, Kate on the DL trip!

I can't remember what else I read. LOL

Whew... glad she is starting to do better :wizard:

I wanted to let everyone know that Bill's dad died late last night. Even though we knew it was coming, it was still a shock. Bill being the only child is having a tough time.

Thanks for the kind words.

Kristine

:grouphug: I am so sorry for your loss...

I think that may be where we are at this week. We started putting him on the potty before he took a bath at night right after he turned 2. He always went and he had fun. We would ask during the day if he wanted to go and he would say "no!!" so we backed off.

When we started a couple of weeks ago, it started with the same question and this time he said "yes". This past week really has been a major turning point for us in that he doesn't fight when I ask him if he wants to go. 80% of the time he is dry and is starting to make the connection about holding it. Only 1 time so far has he told me on his own that he had to go (but then again I ask him every 90 minutes or so and always about 20 minutes after he's eaten or drank a lot).

Anyway, thanks to every one for their words of wisdom. I really have taken a lot of it to heart. I posted this question since I am a newbie parent without any other young children in my family. The advice I get from the older generation in my family isn't the kind you want to hear (i.e. Tony was fully potty trained at 14 months- how come Kyle isn't? etc.)

I think this may be it. We are off to Kohls on Monday to get some Bob the Builder underwear and I think this may be the final step in getting him to make the connection.

Thanks again!!

Kristin

Good luck! And when he does go, really pour on the praise! Getting a little reward such as stickers, m&m's, change, etc., doesn't hurt either.

You were invited to Marie's reception and could have met Donny and you didn't go? Are you nuts woman??!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

We just never really thought about Donny and Marie as celebrities. They were just neighbors, I guess. Somehow, I never have met Donny. It's weird, since our families paths cross often, but he's just never around at the times I am. I do like Marie's kids, though. They are so adorable, and polite.

There you go again, mingling with celebrities! :rotfl:

I guess.? I just never thought of them that way. They just had the best yard, with the best toys, etc. I do remember that Jimmy was a hoot! He could climb a tree faster than anyone I ever knew. His mom was not thrilled about that. I guess she was afraid he'd fall out and hurt himself. She was incredibly overprotective. I was really sad when she died recently. She was a nice lady.

We missed as we went for dinner and I always forget to watch stuff on Friday nights, watched some olympics ceremony when I got back, I really need to look at getting Tivo.

Funny. That's what DH said when we got home from dinner last night and he realized he'd forgotten to set the VCR to record the ceremony. Oh well, at least we got to see the cauldron lit. That was pretty cool!

Glynis - I think you know more celebrities than anyone I know!!!!

Yes, but like I've said before, they just didn't seem like celebrities. I mean, Olive really made them do their homework before they could play, and they had to do chores around the house and everything. They just never acted like celebrities.

Kristine so sad about yours and Bill's loss. I will keep your family in my prayers.

The above post fell on, to me, a bad number of post for me. I do not even use my checks that have this number in them. That is why I edited it to say Blank. I know it is probably silly but.....
