Hello everyone. I could use some kind thoughts. I have a meeting with my DD's principal today.

Here's the story:

Tuesday night I had meetings from 5-8pm for work. My mother was babysitting and supervised my DD's (10) homework.

...

I won't be able to read any replies til I get back. I just needed to vent. Thanks for your time and good wishes.

MidNite, I am so sorry to hear your DD's story. There are SO many things things wrong in this situation that I wouldn't even know where to begin at your meeting. I think that your husband is totally right. I don't believe that there is any reason to use such a humiliating punishment with a child, especially when "ordered" by a male authority figure to a female child. There is a reason that kids aren't made to wear dunce hat anymore. Punishment should not deal a blow to self esteem. If she had her homework, then I am proud of your daughter for standing up for herself.

I hope that your meeting went well today and that you found good resolution.

Thank you! I'm glad you're feeling better today :goodvibes

My "tooth fairy" forgot to come once. She compensated for her guilt with lots of cash :thumbsup2

The Tooth Fairy at our home often forgets. the kids also get compensated. However Megan (10) has now had a tooth in her TF Pillow for 2 months now!

She told me after the last tooth that she lost it at school and did not tell me for 5 days. WHen she told me the TF came that night! (Little booger!)

I calmly responded that the TF does not come unless I call her!

She proceded to tell me that I was the TF. But she believed in Santa. Her logic...are you ready???

I might leave a couple of dollars, but never would I buy ALL those gifts she gets at Chrsitmas!!!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao:

Ahh Kids!!!!!!!!!!

Something I think some of you might find amusing....

Flash-back to last week. I was sick as a dog with a sinus infection, asking for advice from my DDA friends and complaining about my DH, whose only flaw in my mind is that he has absolutely no sympathy or tolerance for all my sinus/allergy problems.

He started to get sick this week, so I asked him if he wanted me to pick up anything over the counter, could help etc. Last night, I asked again if I could help, and the subject came up that he never offers me help or support in that issue. I broke down and told him that I'd even posted about it, hoping to get some advice and maybe hear opinions from other perspectives. He asked me what my friends had to say. I told him the truth -- most were sympathetic, some had felt the same way about their spouses and their illnesses, and hadn't really thought of how their reactions had hurt others, and that I had received good advice on things to try to feel better. I stressed that it wasn't an I'm right, he's wrong kind of post, and that no one said unkind things about him.

Flash-forward to today:

This huge floral arrrangement just arrived at my work. The card says:

To my DW-
Love you!
From your DH...

He used the DIS abbreviations! I thought that was too cute, and wanted to tell you again how much I appreciate this forum and being able to express happy as well as sad or frustrating things to my friends. :flower1:

Wow, I guess he understands now. Very nice.

Good morning all..

Bill's aunt died, so the last few days have been filled with wakes & funerals. Out of 7, his dad is the last living sibling left...sad.

On a brighter note...

Congrats Dawn!!!! I think I had everything you mentioned with each of my kids. I was/am a worrier...give it some time for your body to adjust.

I hate to admit this...but I have never heard of this Chicken Fil A...

My sympathies to your family, especially your DH and FIL. :grouphug:

WOW!!!! $624000 for a 3bdrm??!! I guess that would be the going price for city limits of Atlanta.....I just don't know I would want to live there.

Lynn

Well, It has 3 bedrooms on the main level...but there are 3 rooms on the lower level that can be used as bedrooms, exercise, office or whatever. State of IL doesn't allow you to list lower level rooms as bedrooms.

Here is my Beef----
Austin pretty much took Carrie back after they had been married and she had an affair and moved away with Mike.

Clare -- I loved the pictures!!! I think you both look so relaxed and happy - none of the pressure from the "first" wedding. I'm going to take a look at the other pictures in a minute.

By the way -- could you buy me one HP Sauce and about six Curley Wurley's ???? We tried in England in Epcot and they hadn't had Curley Wurleys for about six months. :guilty: Let me know how I can pay you.

Thanks!

Thanks for the :goodvibes about the photos everyone - I just threw on my denim jacket as it was cold but I thought it looked kinda good with my dress - we have our "reception" party tomorrow night so it'll be making up the outfit again.

Marti - I can of course get these things for you - just pm me your address and I'll go shopping and then send them over to you. Probably easiest to do paypal. I have to ask though - why 6 curley wurlies???

MidNite and Kristine...here's some :wizard: this morning.

Tammi, have a safe and fun weekend!

I leave for my scrapbooking retreat in 26 hours and I still haven't packed. I'm so behind on scrapbooking, I don't even know where to begin!

Amy :)

Have a great time, Amy!!! I wish that I could have dinner by myself let alone a whole weekend and scrapping to boot! Have a great time.

A curley wurley is a chocolate bar with caramel running through it - let me go find a picture

ETA - I can only find ones in wrappers and you need to see the chocolate... maybe I'll buy and extra and unwrap it and post a picture! I might have one in the kitchen actually as I had one in my selection box at xmas...

Marti - I will certainly do the shop as I think it's cheaper for me to buy and post to you than this site I just found while looking for photos of CWs! http://www.englishteastore.com/hpsauce255g.html Thought you might like the link though :) They're out of stock on both lines anyway.

We didn't touch on the discipline method. I kept waiting on DH to bring it up (since he was the one so infuriated by it and I was trying to follow his lead). DH said he's not going to tackle that one head-on because the School Board is so tight around here and we just don't have the clout to do much about it. We are going to write a letter to the Principal and tell him that she's not to be disciplined in that manner any more. Frankly, yes, we wimped out.

My sister works for a lawyer in another city in Alabama. Her boss serves on the Board of Education in his city. We're gonna try to get some more advice regarding the punishement before we go crazy on it and so we can follow proper channels.

I hope that your sister's boss can provide you with some guidance. I agree that this is definitely something that needs to be pursued, but I think that making sure you follow proper channels is a good idea if the local Board is so tight knit.

I've just spent the day in my wedding dress again - we had a vow renewal at the registry office for DH's parents - it was a surprise for them - they thought we were having a family portrait session at a studio and DBIL took them to the registry office to meet us. It was a lovely ceremony and we went for dinner after. It was freezing cold outside so we didn't get many pictures - but the ones we got were nice. DB was the photographer. Here's a link if anyone fancies a look: http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=2111788297

:)

Oh and my DB finally gave me his wedding pics - so I have uploaded those too... careful there are quite a few!

Very nice and congrats again.

I tried that site - and saw they were sold out - so I thought I should go directly to the source!!

Thanks Clare - I haven't had one since 1974 - please post a picture so others can see what it looks like.
