Have a safe and fabulous trip, Marti and Unka Hunka! Hope you have a blast! :cloud9::love2: :ssst:   :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

and

:bday: :cake:Happy 40th Birthday, Marti!!party:

Just got home from the kids' carnival at school. It was great, and the kids had so much fun. The foot stool I painted for my class I teach sold for $100! :thumbsup2 And the best news is, I won Davis' foot stool!!!!! :woohoo:I got it for $36, so DH was extremely happy. Davis is thrilled as well. Mission accomplished!:tigger:

Elin: Glad to hear your mother has stabilized. I hope you get a chance to see her soon.

Beth: I hope your SIL is doing better today. P&PD that it doesn't return.

Sandy: I love your photo and the sepia just really set it off. So funny that we can all live in the same state and have such different weather. It rained here a little bit yesterday, but that's all. Those lake effects can really get you up there, huh?

Jennifer: Sorry to hear that Olivia isn't feeling well. Is she taking her meds better today?

Marti and Paul: Have fun on your trip. I am glad that Matt took it so well. The only time DH and I did WDW without DS, we felt so guilty, we were shipping presents home the 2nd day we were there. Didn't stop us from staying for 9 days.

Denise: Nice to see you participating in the posting frenzy today.

Amy: How are you and Jr. feeling? Does Alyssa does there will be a baby soon, or is it still too soon?

Kate and Nancy: Glad to know yesterday went well. I've been thinking about you.

Jennifer: How is your mouth feeling today? Keeping my fingers crossed that you don't get the dreaded dry sockets.

Teresa: Sorry about the loss of your DH's job. Maybe you can help encourage him to start looking very quickly while he is still in the "job" mode.

Glynis: Happy birthday! party: Have fun at "Sundance". If you happen to see any old flames that are now famous, say hi for us. Your b-day dinner sounds yummy.

Steffy: Thanks for the note. You are so sweet to be taking your sister. I also agree on the studio for more time. There is so much to do, I would hate for you to have to cut her time short.

Did I miss anything? If I did, I apologize. It's not on purpose.

How wonderful that your stool brought in the big bucks. Even better that you got Davis' for such a deal!

Oh, and if anyone here is a Boston Red Sox fan, Jason Varitek's kids go to school where I teach. BK is good friends with his DD. He came to the carnival today to sign autographs. He is such a nice guy and his family is so down to earth.

I have a question to ask all of you -

DS11 had a "palatal bar" installed at the orthodontist on Wednesday. It attaches to his upper molars and is trying to straighten them. He will wear it for 6 months and then braces.

pal_bar.jpg

He is still having trouble with the pain on his teeth and tongue, and struggles something fierce to eat. I think milk shakes will be in his future for a while.

Did anyone here have this appliance, or their kids?

How long can I tell him to expect it to hurt and how long before he figures out how to eat with it? I would call the orthodontist, but of course they are closed on Sat.

Thanks.

Happy Birthday Marti!! party: Kiss Mickey for me!

Denise, good job on the stool! :cool1:

I just read my Mousefest email. This year it will be from Dec 3rd (cruise) to 11th. The land portion is from Dec 7th until the 11th and the MegaMouse met is on the 9th. :faint:

Since everyone is having such a great time with the new smilies, I thought this might be a good chance to see if I can use some new smilies as well. So- this is a test of the Emergency Smilie System. This is only a test!

I need to ask you all for some pixie dust and prayers. (Although mine seems so small in comparison with the others the last couple of days) I found out last night that my husband will be going in to his last day of work this morning. They are closing the store that he is working at with little notice to everyone. This wouldn't be to big of a deal if I knew he would actually go out and look for another job but it took seven months of sitting on his hiney to even look for this job....AND as you can see from my signature we are trying to go to WDW this summer for our first trip. Hard to do that on just my income.

Hope that things go better this time. Sorry you are having a stressful time. And I don't think your need for pixiedust: is small at all.

LOVE these new smilies!!!! :yay:

Hi Steffy - I just had to weigh in on this one -- this is your first time doing DVC right?? I learned a valuable lesson last October when I did our vacation for everybody else BUT my family..... so maybe you can learn from my mistake. Don't try to please anybody but yourself. I know that sounds harsh but what I've learned (especially from disney newbies) they are going to be in awe anyway -- and the little touches won't really get noticed. There are so many big things to notice!!!!! I was so worried about everybody else (whom I couldn't please all of the time anyway) that I didn't enjoy our vacation AT ALL. I certainly would not book a room for less time, just to get a jacuzzi tub. There is a shower/tub in the studio! I think your sister would be much happier with more days to take in all the details. You spend so little time in the room anyway - take more time to show her the parks.

As for Pop Warner, I don't think it impacts you unless you stay at the resorts in which they stay. I do know that they close down MGM a little early one night - I believe 05s was on December 9 - which affected Fantasmic. But I'm sure you can plan around that.

But no matter what we all say here at the DDA - follow your heart. You know your sister best and do what is right for your family. Either way, you'll have a great time!

That sounded like GREAT advice to me, Marti! :thumbsup2

So I am a little stressed out :earseek: !!

Yesterday though I made a funny typo in the Sunday bulletin for all to see. For the Men's Retreat I put the meeting place as Templed HELLS instead of Templed Hills. Can't wait to hear about that on Monday.

Thanks for letting me vent.

:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I hope he is gainfully employed immediately.

DS10 has the same "palatal bar". He has been wearing it for about 8 months now, when the orthodontist removed his braces. He felt pain and had problem swallowing for about 3-4 days. I just asked him what he recommends and he says that you just have to eat small bites at the beginning until you get used to it. He says that sometimes the food got stuck in the bar and had to remove it by hand, but this happened, as I said, for the first couple of days. It's just a matter of him getting used to it and then he will totally forget about it.

Glad you didn't have to pawn anything to get that stool, Denise ::yes:: !

I just realized that I have passed 1000 posts and didn't even know it :yay:

I was on the DIS for many years and had accumulated only a little over 200 posts until you all came along. I also felt as if I only read and then responded infrequently.

You all have been a bright spot in the past few months for me :sunny: and I have loved getting to know you as friends. :thanks:
