Kate -- I hope you feel better soon and that no one else in the Queen's household comes down with it. (Didn't you say Nick threw up earlier this week?) VIRUS BE GONE! pixiedust:

All this talk about High School Musical brings up a running theme in our house.

Cassidy (13) is constantly talking about a boy in her class  ...."Jake loves this Disney show, Jake and I were just talking about this Disney movie.....yada yada...Jake".

I asked her point blank if Jake is her boyfriend a couple of times....no but it would be nice is her answer. Now I never did get into Middle School romances but if you talk to a boy EVERY day wouldn't he be considered a boyfriend? :confused3

I told her to invite him over for dinner and disney some night (we have done this in the past for some of her friends that were boys)...she's mortified that I would embarass her.

A teenage boy that loves Disney as much as this boy seems to, couldn't be bad could he? :rotfl:

2-3 nights I might be able to tough through but 2 weeks :scared1: . I'm not sure I could make it. I will talk to DH and see if he wants to try and see if this works. :confused3 Thank you Tammi and Deb.
How old is he/she? How long has this been going on?

Thanks for the explanation Marci - I bet Tammi's please to have a flu remedy named after her :rolleyes1:

I was just reading the allears newsletter - all about the marathon - and thinking of all you brave {mad} DDAers off to do it next year :)

ETA: I do have to say though if I were ever brave {mad} enough to run a marathon I can't think of a more exciting place to do it :cheer2: Why is there no sporty smilie??

At this stage they don't have boyfriends/girlfriends. They have what are referred to as "crushes". As in, "he's not my boyfriend, he's my crush."

Were we like this at that age?? I'm so embarassed.

I couldn't figure out what you were talking about....I had to go back and reread it.

My oldest was a terrible sleeper...I was almost on the brink of despair. I bought this book: Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems (Paperback) by Richard Ferber. It saved my life!!!!!!!!!!!!! I followed his plan and by the 3rd day he was sleeping perfectly, and I never had a problem again. It works...give it a chance.

Anyone know anything about the new monsters inc ride at DL? I was just reading a review but couldn't work out if it was a ride ride - or a peter pan / winnie the pooh type ride?

Denise, I certainly hope things are a little better today. You know you, John, and the kids are always in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

Here's some more PD for anyone else still fighting yucky bugs or stressful family issues. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Thank you for all the great birthday wishes! :sunny: Kevin got home around 9 p.m. and we ate cake (he gets an A+ for buying me a delicious cake) and watched Scrubs and American Idol. Tonight, he's bringing home dinner from one of my favorite restaurants. :lovestruc

Regarding the toddler sleeping issue, I have to agree with letting the baby cry. It's heartbreaking, but necessary. For whatever reason, Alyssa has decided to put up a fight at bedtime over the past few days, and this is the method we're using. She never cries more than five minutes...it's just a control thing. Good luck!

I'm spending my first night ever away from Alyssa this weekend. I'm going to an overnight scrapbooking event with my sister-in-law from 3:00 p.m. Saturday through noon on Sunday. I'm excited to "get away," and I know Kevin will take excellent care of Alyssa, but I've never been away from my baby for so long!!!

Hey Kate, did you hear back from American Girl regarding Julia's audition?

Hope everyone has a great day!
Amy :)
Good luck this weekend. I always look forward to our annual church's women's retreat for the weekend away but then when the boys start hugging me and saying goodbye I get all sad. It's hard but well worth it. I always feel refreshed. :sunny: Have fun.

Brantley-Kate is feeling a little better today. Her temp was down this am, so I'm praying that part is over. Her face is still beet red and she's covered in the rash.

Haven't heard from my MIL yet about the surgery, so I'll keep you posted.

I called Rees' therapy clinic this am to see if they'd let PBS film him at therapy, and they were checking with the owners for approval. PD please that PBS pics us and that we get a chance to tell our story!
:wizard: I hope everything works out for your family.

:guilty: Guess who has the flu today!!!

I just had a little bit of sprite - I will see if it stays down - my stomach has finally stopped hurting constantly - but since i had the sprite it is a little unsettled

I guess I will wait and see

:( I'm so sorry, Kate. I was hoping that it had been long enough that everything was going to skip over you. Feel better soon!! :sunny: :wizard:

I don't know for certain, but I remember something giving me the impression that it will be a peter pan/pooh type of ride. My best friend lives across the street so I'm sure they'll be riding it soon. I'll let you know what I hear about it.

I think that is on the Disney channel tonight. Should we watch? Is it like a disney version of Grease?

Speaking of movies, does anyone have any feedback on the new movie coming out this weekend....Nanny McFee or something?
Tammi -

it is EXACLTY like grease - they meet out of town - she transfers to his school - their friends don't want them together - even the Finale will remind you of grease!! maybe that is why I love it!!

I don't know anything about Nanny McPhee - but I have a thing about teeth - so there is NO WAY I could ever watch it!!!

Hope you feel better Kate.

You know over here we use the word flu to refer to a bad cold - I think you guys use it to refer to a stomach upset?

:wizard:

Yeah, that's what its pretty much used for. Although technically, it's short for a specific virus that feels much more like a bad cold than anything with vomiting, etc. But you've got the terminology down! :goodvibes

He's 17 months. He never has slept through the night on his own. I either end up rocking him several times a night or he ends up in our bed.

It's a pooh kind of ride. But, supposed to be really neat. My boys love the movie so can hardly wait to ride it. Gotta go one more time before our AP's expire in August. :)

Clare -- I think different families use it in different ways. When I say stomach flu, that usually means I have 24 hour virus or something that has to do with the digestive system and doesn't last very long. Flu is something with a very high fever, chills, aches all over, sore throat, upper respiratory, sneezing, coughing etc. It can last a week if you don't catch it at the onset and use something like Tamiflu. My oldest son got the flu before we could get him vaccinated this year, but thanks to Tamiflu he was only sick three days.

She beat me to it! She's absolutely right though.

"Stomach Flu" is definitely the term you hear a lot, for like gastroenteritis (you can see why!) or an "upset stomach"... with vomiting and/or diarrhea, etc.

Sorry for the poop reference :goodvibes

Kate :wizard: :wizard: I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully Nick and Julia don't get sick again.
party: :bday: Ellen Have a great birthday. :sunny:
