I just realized that I have passed 1000 posts and didn't even know it :yay:

I was on the DIS for many years and had accumulated only a little over 200 posts until you all came along. I also felt as if I only read and then responded infrequently.

You all have been a bright spot in the past few months for me :sunny: and I have loved getting to know you as friends. :thanks:
ditto :thumbsup2

Kate and the rest of our families are home and I am here with 2 sick kids. Fortunately Jim went back to work after lying around here Sat. night and all day Sunday. Megan spent all day Sunday throwing up. Grace slept all day. She had hives. It was awful.

Grace missed school all last week, vomiting, fever, tired, achy. Then on Saturday, started with the hives. I had new detergent from Sam's CLub (300 oz). I put her in clothes from the old detergent and gave her some Benedryl and the hives disappeared. On Sunday they reappeared anyway. She fell asleep. I drug the detergent back to Sams and got my Money back. I bought Tide Free (no perfumes, dyes etc.). When she woke up the Hives were back. Today she only has one or 2 bumps and feels tons better. Let's hope she goes back to school tomorrow.

My paycheck is gonna be nothing! I have missed 6 days of work now! Fortunately they are great about understanding. I work at school with mostly women!

Kate gave a great run down of our weekend. Things were :sad1:     :crowded: party: :drinking1 :jumping1: I think that hits all the emotions.

Finally after about my 6th load of sheets (so much sickness at my house). I Ran out of Clorox wipes and finished off my 1st of 3 big cans of Lysol. I leaned up against DH and  I think I just need to get it all out. Then I felt better, got up cleaned up the kitchen and moved on!

Today, things look brighter and I am off to Atlanta Bread to get the girls some lunch. Grace has gotten so thin from being sick that her pants are falling down! (Oh to have such a problem!)

Thanks again everyone for your thoughts and :wizard:! It really made me feel warm and :grouphug:

I am thinking about all of you this week and wishing you all happiness.

Hey everyone! Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! You'll never know how much you brightened my day! All things considered, this has been a great birthday. It started actually yesterday, with my kids throwing me a surprise party! :cool1: They blindfolded me and took me to the living room where they had made a poster saying "Happy Birthday, Mommy! We love you! Then they all signed (or scribbled) something for me. Then I got my "presents." Each child had taken a toy out of their toybox and wrapped them up for me. Picture, if you will, a small stuffed Blue wrapped in about half a roll of wrapping paper. That's what all 4 gifts looked like. I was trying so hard not to laugh as I could tell they had worked their little hearts out on this "party." After presents, DS brought me a bag of baby carrots, since I can't have cake, and DD #1 threw handfuls of confetti on me. This was homemade confetti, made by ripping pieces of paper into miniscule bits. Then for the showstopping finale, they brought out a pinata they had made. It looked like a blob of more wrapping paper, tied tightly shut with yarn, and then tied to my broom. DH held it up while each child tried to hit it with a small plastic bat. It made very suspicious noises as they hit it, and imagine our surprise when it finally burst and some very crushed pretzel sticks fell to the floor. The kids were so excited to have done this very grown up thing, and truth be told, I was extremely touched.

Then DH took me out for dinner. Nothing fancy, just a steak. I ate 3 bites of steak, 2 small shrimp, and 3 broccoli florets, and was full. It's funny, I used to hate going out to eat, because I imagined that the wait staff was judging me on what I ordered. Now I hate to go out to eat, because the wait staff always looks at me in disbelief as I ask for a to go box. Last night, the waiter, looked at my plate, then at me and said, "Was there something wrong with the food?" I had to explain about my new tummy, and then he got it! I just can't win! :lmao:

Today at church, I was bombarded by people wishing me happy birthday. I even got complimented when someone asked how it felt to finally turn 31. What a great feeling!

After church, the kids decided they needed birthday cake. So, I ended up making myself a birthday cake that I couldn't eat, and then cleaning up after it! At least they enjoyed the cake. DH bought a new freezer, and a new refrigerator/freezer a couple of weeks ago, so that is what I claim as my real presents. Then he tells me that he wants to get me a gift certificate to a day spa, but he wants me to pick out the treatments that I want. I've never done anything like that, so I don't know what I want. Suggestions, anyone?

Well, that's it from birthday land. Again, thanks for all the birthday wishes. You guys sure know how to make someone feel special.
That's too cute. :goodvibes

Nancy - It sounds like you had an awful weekend. I am hoping that the detergent was the cause of the hives, and not some other problem. That is something that I've never experienced, and hope I don't have to. It makes me feel better just to have a good cry every now and again too, especially when the stress is really taking it's toll. It's really the only release us mom's have. Hope things are getting better for you!:wizard:

Sounds like a long week. :grouphug: I hope your family gets feeling better and you don't get sick. :wizard: I use ALL Free & Clear w/ allergen reducer. I have 2 DS's with similar problems with detergents. Also, I was told by allergist to avoid dryer sheets (like Bounce).

The best moment of the service for me was at the very beginning - my grandfather was a train engineer in new york and my grandmother lived across from a train track as we were grwoing up - we used to go collect the spikes that had come loose and put pennies on the track so we could have flat pennies - so trains have always reminded me of both of my grandparents

so as the service began a train passed by the church - the track went right by the church and blew its whistle - and I couldn't help to smile and know that grandma and grandpa were on their way in the train!!!

Glad the trip went ok Kate - and that you had such a touching moment during the service.

Hope everyone is on the mend.

My mother is back in the nursing home from the hospital, but not because she is much better. She did "recover" enough to be responsive to the medical staff at the hospital and to let them know that she really just wanted to go home. So, since there was nothing else they could do for her they let her return this morning. Her nurse called to tell us that they think she has pneumonia and is now refusing her three daily breathing treatments which have been part of her life for the past 3-4 years. All that being said, DH and I are headed to PA Friday morning. My sister and her DH will arrive from Allentown on Saturday. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) my DB has a job interview on Friday and cannot come from Boston.

So what do you all think of the tatto I picked out?
Haven't gotten it yet.
I want to wait a while to make sure this is the pose & design I can live with.
th_scan.jpg

About this size.
Thinking about right low calf close to my angle.

I'm not a tattoo person - too much of a scaredy-cat - but I love the design. If that's what you want I say go for it :cheer2:

Glynis that sounds like the most amazing day! Your kids are so sweet :goodvibes

As for spa treatments - I can highly recommend the manicure/pedicure/facial - and go with a girlfriend - I went a couple of years ago with my mum and a friend and we had a blast - lounging around in dressing gown and slippers in between treatments

Has anyone ever heard of sunshine rewards?

They are talking about this over on the budget board and they are saying in less than two weeks some of them have earned $20 Disney dollars - you can earn the Disney dollars by clicking on links - or signing up for offers - some are to join and need a credit card but others are just to sign up for a dunkin donuts coupon and you can get a percentage for shopping at Disney shopping and a few other stores! You get $2 just for signing up and for referals - thought this was something you all might be interested - I wonder how many disney dollars I can earn between now and December 2007?!?!?

http://www.sunshinerewards.com/signup.php?r=396

Hey now! I signed up for this about a week ago, and didn't want to drag people in :rotfl:

If anyone wants, you can use my referral as well! I won't post it though, that wouldn't be nice :goodvibes

I hope it works for us!

Steffy - congratulations on the new baby in the family

Karebear1 - that's a great idea for Glynis to save her spa treat for the GF

Nancy - Glad the weekend was ok for you - and I hope your family recovers from the sick bug quickly - poor DD too, I get excema from bio washing powder and it's not nice! :wizard:

Oh and I fixed my smilies - I managed to uninstall smilie central and then rebooted my router - and bob's your uncle the smilies are back :lmao:

Ok, between the server and our internet, I'm going nuts! I don't think I'll be back on until later tonight. We have our LAST residency dinner tonight (woohoo!)! And it's here... so I just drive over the river, eat a free dinner and come home. No hotels, no long drives.... just fun and free food :goodvibes

Have a good night, and I'll catch up with you all soon!
