Hey everyone! Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! You'll never know how much you brightened my day! All things considered, this has been a great birthday. It started actually yesterday, with my kids throwing me a surprise party! :cool1: They blindfolded me and took me to the living room where they had made a poster saying "Happy Birthday, Mommy! We love you! Then they all signed (or scribbled) something for me. Then I got my "presents." Each child had taken a toy out of their toybox and wrapped them up for me. Picture, if you will, a small stuffed Blue wrapped in about half a roll of wrapping paper. That's what all 4 gifts looked like. I was trying so hard not to laugh as I could tell they had worked their little hearts out on this "party." After presents, DS brought me a bag of baby carrots, since I can't have cake, and DD #1 threw handfuls of confetti on me. This was homemade confetti, made by ripping pieces of paper into miniscule bits. Then for the showstopping finale, they brought out a pinata they had made. It looked like a blob of more wrapping paper, tied tightly shut with yarn, and then tied to my broom. DH held it up while each child tried to hit it with a small plastic bat. It made very suspicious noises as they hit it, and imagine our surprise when it finally burst and some very crushed pretzel sticks fell to the floor. The kids were so excited to have done this very grown up thing, and truth be told, I was extremely touched.

Then DH took me out for dinner. Nothing fancy, just a steak. I ate 3 bites of steak, 2 small shrimp, and 3 broccoli florets, and was full. It's funny, I used to hate going out to eat, because I imagined that the wait staff was judging me on what I ordered. Now I hate to go out to eat, because the wait staff always looks at me in disbelief as I ask for a to go box. Last night, the waiter, looked at my plate, then at me and said, "Was there something wrong with the food?" I had to explain about my new tummy, and then he got it! I just can't win! :lmao:

Today at church, I was bombarded by people wishing me happy birthday. I even got complimented when someone asked how it felt to finally turn 31. What a great feeling!

After church, the kids decided they needed birthday cake. So, I ended up making myself a birthday cake that I couldn't eat, and then cleaning up after it! At least they enjoyed the cake. DH bought a new freezer, and a new refrigerator/freezer a couple of weeks ago, so that is what I claim as my real presents. Then he tells me that he wants to get me a gift certificate to a day spa, but he wants me to pick out the treatments that I want. I've never done anything like that, so I don't know what I want. Suggestions, anyone?

Well, that's it from birthday land. Again, thanks for all the birthday wishes. You guys sure know how to make someone feel special.

Glynis- save that spa treatment for your trip to WDW after the marathon! Go here to check out the different typoes of treatments and their prices at the GF!! You're one lucky girl! Thos kids of yours are sooooo cute!

I still have no smilies  I can see about 10 of them but the rest are blanks. I can type the tags in so I assume you can see mine. I downloaded smilie central yesterday and I think it's stuffed them up -can't work out how to uninstall the horiible thing though

That is what happened to me when they disappeared. However, they magically just "fixed themselves" an hour or so later. Wish I could help you fix yours. Maybe this will help. :wizard: :wizard:

Has anyone ever heard of sunshine rewards?

They are talking about this over on the budget board and they are saying in less than two weeks some of them have earned $20 Disney dollars - you can earn the Disney dollars by clicking on links - or signing up for offers - some are to join and need a credit card but others are just to sign up for a dunkin donuts coupon and you can get a percentage for shopping at Disney shopping and a few other stores! You get $2 just for signing up and for referals - thought this was something you all might be interested - I wonder how many disney dollars I can earn between now and December 2007?!?!?

Hey, now......... :rotfl:

I think it's me saying things like "The Steelers actually fielded a team" that make my husband say I am not a Broncos fan :cheer2: !! But since I lived through Orange Crush days and he didn't....I can be sarcastic he just didn't like that I was right :teeth:

Congrats Steffy on the new grandbaby!!

Brenda love the tink design and hope you get to feeling better soon!!

Glynis birthday parties done by the kids are so great, aren't they? When my husband gave me a spa day he chose a water scrub/massage for the entire body.....have no idea what it is really called(been forever!!) but that was the best 2 hours of me time. Enjoy the "me" time.

Elin - I was just looking at the upcoming Disney trips thread :surfweb:and see that we are going to be there the exact same dates again in October. :earseek: You and I must be on the same wavelength or something. Maybe this time we will be lucky enough to bump into eachother!! :mickeyjum

I just realized that I have passed 1000 posts and didn't even know it :yay:

I was on the DIS for many years and had accumulated only a little over 200 posts until you all came along. I also felt as if I only read and then responded infrequently.

You all have been a bright spot in the past few months for me :sunny: and I have loved getting to know you as friends. :thanks:

Elin: Enjoy your time with your Mom this weekend. I am sending ots of prayers and PD. I know this can be a difficult time.
Congrats on 1000 Posts! What a sweet note! :thanks:
The feeling is mutual.

Glynis,

Happy Birthday. party: :bday:

What a sweet thing for your family to do for you.
I went to a spa and had what they call a 'Teaser'. a little of this and that. 45 minute massage, mini facial. manicure and pedicure which consisted of just exfoilating and then polishing. Plus they brought a little tray of cheese, crackers and fruit and I drank water but could have had just about anything. I could have even brought wine if I wanted. Check on the spas close to you and of course ask your friends if they have gone to any. I was at this spa for over 2 hours being very pampered. I would do it again. The thing to consider, what would make you really feel just like you want to melt.
Terry

Thanks for the advice! I'll check out some spas in our area and see what's offered. I'm kind of excited about all of this. Should be a fun new experience!

Marti & Skunka – Have a GREAT trip! Happy 40th Marti!!

Babytrees – Good Luck & PD!

Glynis – Happy Birthday Late!! (I am still trying to catch up!)

And now the ****** Server is busy! What is he doing??

Beth: I hope your SIL is doing better today. Sending prayers!

Denise--glad you got the stool. Sounds like youhave a great school!
Now I cannot even add any smilies! I might have to go back to just reading for a while!

Glynis - sounds to me like you had the best birthday ever!

It really was special for me! I think my Katie was feeling badly that I couldn't have cake and ice cream and wanted to do something special to compensate. I have wonderful kids. Sometimes they make me :furious:
but for the most part they put me right on :cloud9:

I need to ask you all for some pixie dust and prayers. (Although mine seems so small in comparison with the others the last couple of days) I found out last night that my husband will be going in to his last day of work this morning. They are closing the store that he is working at with little notice to everyone. This wouldn't be to big of a deal if I knew he would actually go out and look for another job but it took seven months of sitting on his hiney to even look for this job....AND as you can see from my signature we are trying to go to WDW this summer for our first trip. Hard to do that on just my income.

So I am a little stressed out :earseek: !!

Yesterday though I made a funny typo in the Sunday bulletin for all to see. For the Men's Retreat I put the meeting place as Templed HELLS instead of Templed Hills. Can't wait to hear about that on Monday.

Thanks for letting me vent.
prayers and pixie dust that your DH finds a job soon.
