Here's a picture of Matt - I used the frame that TravelinGal used - thanks for that!! Then I erased the background on Matt's picture and smooshed the two together - here is the result:

What a handsome boy you have, Marti and Paul! Love it!

It doesn't get much more off topic than this...

Anyone active in church? I am Lutheran...I just got back from a congregational meeting....we had to vote on whether or not to remove the Pastor from our church, effective immediately. As much as I feel like it was a necessity...I can't help but feel guilty. It amazes me, I have never experienced the amount of poltics in the work place that I deal with at the church level.

Ok..I'm done. My head is just spinning. Sorry for the rant

That is one of the problems of being on a board at church. We see all the politics that go on and it can be very discouraging. I will keep you and your church in my prayers. This is a very difficult time for all involved.

Marti... great pics... both of them. I like them!! Matt is a cutie... :goodvibes

12-3 to 12-10 (We are going 12-10 to 12-17)

ETA: The dates I used before were 11-26 to 12-3 and that was $263 (before fees) :earseek: But that was also the Sunday after Thanksgiving- which is the busiest travel day of the year...

Have those of you in Chicago thought about flying Southwest?

We flew SWA the Monday after Thanksgiving last year from Houston to Orlando at a pretty good price (and literally a 1/3 of what American wanted). I see great Ding! fares from SWA all the time out of Chicago Midway (but maybe that accident not too long ago is making you guys rightfully gun-shy) - like in the $49 one-way range. I'd kill for that kind of fare out of SW's home turf! Of course, they don't release their schedule until a few months out, but it's never been a problem for us. We love Southwest.

Use to be a lutheran, joined to take communion with wife. Pulled her away and into a church that wasn't dead though. They weren't very supportive when we lost our son and couldn't give us any answers on his salvation.

The joy of having a stillborn child that couldn't get baptized. We know where he is and that Mya has her own personal Big Brother Angel.

We now go to a Non-Denominational and love it.

Mac,

I'm so sorry to hear about your son. I can't imagine having to struggle with that question. Heaven bless and keep your son, and give you guys comfort when you think of him. :grouphug:

(btw - where do you guys live in the Metro area? I work in downtown, but live in Plano.)

My sister in PA just called to tell me that our Mom was taken to the hospital late tonight. She is completely unresponsive but the last report was that her vital signs are OK. Not sure what the heck that means. She is 85 years old and not in the best of health. We had to move her from Assisted Care to a nursing home in August and she has not been doing well lately.

I have not seen my Mom since the fall and was planning to go up next weekend. So I am feeling badly now. It is so very hard to live 6 hours away from those you love and have your own family and life that has to be maintained. Anyway... please keep us in your thoughts. Thanks, friends.

I definitely can empathize. DH is an ordained minister (but doesn't currently minister vocationally) - when he was the pastor of a church, I would have never believed the politics in an active congregation of about 35 if I hadn't lived through it myself. It floored and saddened me (and reminded me of why we NEED the church - the way we can act towards one another is scary!).

Hi all! :wave2: It's been a quite a while since I posted. Only now I think I have some motion sickness from zooming through this thread and speed reading up to this point. :crazy2:

Thanks to everyone who has posted or sent me a PM with photos of the designs I made. It is really cool to see them all and your families having a great time at disney!

Now I just hope I can stay caught up because reading hundreds of posts at one time is a bit too much for me!

I just bought our airline tickets for October. I know it's early but I saw a fare on United out of Dulles for $182, and thought that was pretty good. Who knows what will happen to prices once summer gets here. I'm sure I could have gotten it a little cheaper on SWA out of Baltimore, but Dulles is so much more convenient, and we don't have to pay to park.

I don't know why, but trips always seem so much more real once I have purchased my airline tickets. Maybe it's because you can always cancel a hotel ressie, but not an airline ticket! Woohoo!

I am curious, Tammi --

Why don't you have to pay to park at Dulles?!?!

That's funny, because I too had cravings for peanutbutter during both my pregnancies for my boys. They are now 17 and 20 and no allergies whatsoever. I don't know whether to be glad I didn't know, so I didn't have another thing to worry about, or whether I should have known, so maybe I wouldn't have eaten so much peanutbutter... it's very fattening and I did gain a lot of weight during both.

Personally i think it is just a new government fad - they come up with all kinds of mad ideas to try and keep us safe - like kids can't play conkers in the playground in the autum without wearing goggles in case they get hit in the eye!

I was interested to hear if your kids got allergies since you ate so much peanut butter - as they didn't that just proves to me that its nonsense!

Alright, I think that I am about to jump head first into the designing pool. After looking at the Jojo's Circus birthday listings on eBay. I have some great ideas for favors, invites, etc for Terra's and Kassie's (my niece 1y1w older than Terra) joint birthday party.

Someone (was it you Clare?) posted a link to PhotoImpact 8 on sale for cheap. Would this do what I want or should I spend more for the most recent version. Any words of advice before I jump in? I am really excited about the ideas I have, but am short on time so need to get started quickly.

Thanks in advance all of you experts! :)
It was me - check the site seems ok before you buy as I just googled it.

I'd say buy an older version then if you don't like the program you could simply try something else and you've not wasted cash - if you love it then you can pay to upgrade it - which is cheaper than buying the latest version up front.

I'm a Lutheran, too. That must have been a horrible congregational meeting. We just voted in a new pastor after not having one for almost a year. I still feel guilty that I voted against her (and even worse because I still think I was right). We don't have a lot of choice in Lutheran churches around here, though, and my daughter is in the middle of confirmation classes, so we'll stick through it.

I am very sorry for you loss, and I'm also sorry to hear that your church treated you like that. It was always my belief that Lutherans believed that baptism wasn't a requirement for salvation, especially in cases like yours. A church that isn't supportive during times like those certainly isn't the right place for you, and I'm glad that you have found a church that you love.
