DS just told us about something that happened at school today. :furious:
Apparently instead of actually doing any sort of physical activity in PE these days the kids are given sports cards. They have to write up a paragraph about the person on their card. First of all, how lame is that? But I digress...

DS had a football card with some player for the Panthers. He asked the PE teacher if they are a Texas team. She responded with "Hmm. Panthers, Cowboys. I don't think so! Can anybody tell him what state the Panthers are from? Maybe you should ask your dad. But he would freak out if he knew you didn't know the answer!" WHAT THE HE!! WAS THAT?!

DS was so sad when he was telling me! He said he just asked a simple question and she made fun of him in front of all the other kids! I don't like that woman, DH doesn't like her, and now she is ridiculing our child? :furious: Sports are not a priority in our family, and how dare she presume to tell MY child what his father would think of him not knowing what state a football team is from?!

Ordinarily I would go to the principal with it, but thanks to the lawsuit I am afraid she has larger issues. Like a bunch of idiots calling for her to be terminated. I asked DS what he wants to do, and he isn't sure. He finally told DH to go talk to the PE teacher. So it looks like DH and I will be going to school with DS in the morning to have a discussion with the PE teacher about being respectful of the students and not assuming that everybody is a sports fan. Obviously there are 2 sides to every story and I am sure she will spin it around somehow. Perhaps we will take DS wiht us to speak to her. That might be better than us going without him.

What do you all think?

I know the principal has alot on their plate, but I still think they need to know that one of their teachers was ridiculing a student because they didn't know something. If the principal doesn't care perhaps a school board member or a school counselor should be notified. This is uncalled for and inappropriate behavior for a teacher. Sending :wizard: :wizard: that the meeting goes well tomorrow with the teacher.

Good night, Tammi!

I guess I will head to bed, too. Between the weather and this problem with the teacher it might be a very interesting day tomorrow.

Good night, DDA!

Deb~ Thanks so much for posting the info about the Polar Express. The closest one to us is in NJ which right outside of Allentown, PA. I just bought tickets this morning. My cousin is getting transferred to Allentown this coming weekend so we will be able to visit him and his new wife. We were planning on going up the weekend of the 9th to do lunch with them and now the girls will be excited as they will get to ride on the train. Emma loves the book so this is perfect!!

I'm glad that you were able to get tickets. I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Becky - Great job on your project!!

That was only the grade from my group project partner, the one who I was afraid was going to give me a zero. The teacher still has another 15% of our final grade to grade us on for the actual paper.

THANKS for the US info Tammy & Becky.
I will probably get the passes for Christmas.
Will it's late.
My eyes are drupping.
Catch ya later.

Thanks!
DS already has some self esteem issues because he is so tiny. He isn't into sports, and that is FINE with us. He is also very self conscious about asking questions. For him to work up enough nerve to ask a question in class is HUGE, then she makes fun of him? DS said himself that he kids are there to LEARN, not to be made fun of! :guilty: I sort of expect him to be bullied by other kids because that is the world we live in, but not by a TEACHER!

I think you should if DS will say it, have him tell that to the teacher, I think she has forgotten that the students are there to learn. Or perhaps if he is too afraid to say it you should write down some comments from him to take in including that with you to make sure you say to the teacher. I would take your son with you.

Evening all.
Been a busy week.
It's 10:00 PM here.
I just now had time to get on.
Ramiro wireless connection went out.
Tried to fix it.
No luck.
Had to go back to a cable & ethernet cable.
Oh well at least he has his internet back.
So how is everyones Christmas shopping going?
Don't flame me.
I'm thinking about getting Universal AP.
They have a Florida resident special now.
3 extra months free with a AP.
So for $179.00 you get 15 months both parks & free parking.
Ramiro is really bugging me for Universal.
Does anyone know anything about Universal?

We've done Universal Several timees. They have a lot of roller coasters and thrill rides at Islands of Adventure. It doesn't have the same "magic" as Disney, but if you like rides it has some of the best

Debbie, I'm glad that only your car was hurt. Those trucks could have really hurt you. Good luck getting the damage covered.

Vicki have a great trip. We'll be thinking of you.

Because you are a very caring person and it is something that you have absolutely no control over. Plus you have a ton of other stuff to do. :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: and prayers

I'll make this short as I am a tired girl. Of course DISing from bed is a lot more comfortable than sitting at a desktop so maybe I'll actually start falling asleep earlier. the geek squad came and created a wireless home network for me today. It is very cool and now I'm able to use my laptop anywhere in the house andfor a good distance outside :thumbsup2 I'm pretty excited. I'm sure I had lots to report today, but I'm just too tired to think so I'm off to sleep.

Hope Abi is feeling better!

She seems to be...I think sleeping and drinking lots of water today helped.

She was so sweet, here's the gist of our conversation this morning:

T: How do you feel this morning?
A: My stomach hurts a bit, my nose is stuffy and my throat tastes like there's throw up in there.
T: I think you may need to stay home
A: But I love school
T: I know you do but you need to stay home I think.

a few lame arguments later:

A: Well I'll let you decide mom because your a better doctor than I am. :goodvibes

I went in early got home at 10...she had already slept some...we had a simple lunch and she slept some more until my Grandma's volume on her tv woke her up. That thing is on so loud sometimes that I can hear it down in the basement and on the other side of the house clearly!

We put up some of the ornaments and I finished making 8 ornaments!! Had choir rehearsal and am now unwinding.

hi everyone-
I just found out my grandmother will be getting surgery in the near future...her coratid artery is 80% blocked..we have to wait 2 weeks for something (not sure what) and then they schedule the surgery...
i dont have a good feeling about this and have been crying all night...plus, im sick and cant stop being sick...and i HAVE to go to class tomorrow..

if you guys could keep my grandma in your prayers,id appreciaet it

Prayers for grandma!!(and you too!!)

Elizabeth-

If your son feels comfortable going with you than have him go if not, have him write down his thoughts. Even if you get what you feel is a reasonable solution with just the teacher, the principal or vice principal needs to be told about the talk...it always needs to be noted with administration when there's a problem.

Abi also has self esteem issues and it ends up being that she's passed her last nerve when she tells about her problems.

If nothing else your son knows you have his back!!

Night all, even though I seem to be the last one awake!! :teeth:

Good morning, DDA family!! :sunny:

Just got home from work & it is not very good outside. visibility is horrible! My truck is stuck at the bottom of the driveway(hate not having 4 wheel drive). Kristine I do hope your flight makes it out. I have to be back to work at noon & I will be driving the Jimmy(it has 4 wheel drive). For those in the path, be careful! I am positive there will be no school.

You are freaked out because she is your grandma and you love her, sweetie! Tammy was so eloquent in her description of what you should expect for your grandma and I hope that helps to make you feel a little better. :grouphug: for you and your family.

Good morning, DDA! In honor of the most wonderful time of the year....

Morning DDA!

Flights from Chicago are canceled until noon. Flights going into Chicago are running 4 1/2 hours late. Kristine :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hey Jo - can you find out if you pay for a one day ticket and go to Universal Orlando if you can apply that $ spent to the Florida resident pass? That way you DS will think you're "letting" him go to Universal - and you can still suprise him with annual passes if you both like the parks. :teeth:
