Always been busy. I gotta work hard and play hard too. If you knew my parents you would understand completly. They are both extremely busy and involved in everything under the :sunny: . Since my father lucked out and was able to go into early retirement since the company he worked for closed. He has been busier than ever.

Guilty as charged as a multi-tasker. Half the time I am here working on homework or some other project or art or craft.
I'm impressed. I wish I could be that full of life. Lately I feel as if I have absolutely no energy. I know I'm overdue to have my thyroid checked but I feel like it's more than that maybe just the effect of stress or the 3 hours of sleep a night. I am going to the doctor in a couple weeks maybe I'll get some answers then.

It is nice to see everyone posting tonight. I knew that we would all be here for each other, but it still amazes me to see the compassion that we have all developed for one another.

I am enjoying all the new pictures too. I have to second Kate's comment that is was nice to actually talk to some of you today. I hope to talk with you all under happier circumstances.

Nick and Hunter had doctors appointments today. They are both perfectly healthy. I have been worrying about Hunter's weight as he is nearly 9 years old and only weighs 47 lbs. Our pediatrician said not to worry about him at all as he is in the 8th percentile for weight and 11th for height so he is perfectly proportioned. Nick on the other hand needs to make better food choices as he is in the 74th percentile for weight and 32nd for height. They are polar opposites :rotfl: I'm hoping to incorporate a little of my weight watchers diet into Nick's diet. If he could just maintain his current weight and shoot up (get taller for all you funny guys out there) he'd be all set.

Deb
I know DH's oldest had this problem when we first got married. He was 6. I just didn't stock desserts, like cookies, Little Debbie's, Hostess I had lots of fruit and veggie choices with dips and yogurts. And they had milk or water. Only 1 glass of juice a day as I had read the sugar content of juice. I didn't offer them pop except if we went out as a treat. Of course, I was the wicked stepmom but he did get back to a normal weight and is a lot better and healthier eater now. Only one of my kids like pop as they haven't had it enough to aquire a taste for it. Occassionally, I buy some Oreo's or what not for treats. It's just not there on a daily basis. This also helps me to choose better when I need a pick me up snack to stay awake with the baby. :teeth: I'm not sure if it helps any but I do know it's hard helping kids to develop healthy eating habits. :grouphug:

During all this sadness today, Leighanna took it upon herself to try to cheer me up. She told me to come into the family room and this is what I found.

She said that a tea party with all her Disney friends, would sure to make any one happy. And you know what it did.

Teaparty2.jpg

I told her that Batman wasn't part of Disney. She said that he was there for me. I asked her why? She said he is a superhero, and that I was her superdad.

God sure knew what he was doing the day Leighanna was born.

I posted my last post at 12:40 a.m. At 1:00 I was calling 911. I had just gone from the kitchen into the living room when Bob went into the kitchen to let the dog out. I heard him say, "Elin... you are going to have to give me a hand. We have a problem." I went into the kitchen and the whole top of our stove was on fire. After trying to smother the fire with pot lids and having no luck, I ran into the laundry room and threw the breaker. I then called 911 and the fire dept. was here within 10 minutes. Damage to the stove is not too severe and the rest of the counter top is not bad either. But our house REEKS of smoke, even though they used their high powered fans to suck it out. I ate dinner out with friends tonight and Bob did not use the stove to cook his dinner. The fire marshall thinks it was probably a short in the burner.

Now, for some odd reason I am WIDE AWAKE and don't think I will sleep much tonight. Just had to come on here and "talk" to someone about it since Bob is as upset as I am.

Leslie did the same thing with her blanket. Once she found "her" corner, she would rub it between her fingers. Eventually, she rubbed a hole in the corner, and then she made it wider and wider. The poor blanket is hanging together by a thread, but she won't give it up. One of these days, I think it's just going to have to disappear.
Zachary has a blanket like that. It is just a plain white blanket with yellow ribbon around the edges but he'll run his fingers along the ribbon around the whole blanket. It's raggedy and the ribbon edging might come off. Unfortunately, I can't make it disappear as when he really gets overwhelmed that's what he'll do once he calms down is rub his blankie. I don't know what we'll do if it falls apart as it seems to be his anchor for his emotional problems. Of course DH is like just make him another one, me the person who flunked sewing in Home EC. :rotfl2: He just automatically assumes since my grandma was such a seamstress in her younger years that I have that gene. It must have skipped me. :teeth: At least I got her cooking gene. He seems to enjoy that better anyway. :)

She  it! She wants to go tomorrow, but she only goes on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays.

Oh and went and checked and I wasn't on DVC skin. It must have reset at some point.
I'm glad she likes it Caleb was the same way about only going 3 days as his older brother in Kindergarten was going every day. He thought he should be able to too. It was soo cute the first day he got up and got ready and I reminded him it was a no school day. Well his lower lip was out for a long time and he just gave me such a sad look. :guilty: But mommy I had plans with my friends there. It took him a week to get used to seeing Blake go 2 days without him.

Elin I am glad you are both ok :grouphug: I would not be able to sleep either, how scarey!

Scary. :grouphug: I am glad everyone is alright and no major damage was done. Sending a quick prayer for you and Bob for peace of mind. I hope your able to get some rest after your nerves calm down. :grouphug: :wizard:

Can you spray some Oust for the smoke smell? Not sure if it works for smoke odors :confused3
ETA: maybe a drink will help you relax. Sometimes a glass of wine helps me when I'm overstressed.

Amy is there something you're trying to tell us? :teeth: :rotfl:
But on a serious side, how is Matthew sleeping? Your pics of your kids are always a highlight for me. You (as well as the rest of the DDA) have such cute kids.

Fire is my biggest fear. Yes, I'm still awake. I'm going to be worthless in a few hours. Just worthless. Can't sleep either.

I'm so glad you were still up and saw the fire. This has such a better result!!!

So glad you two are okay. I couldn't handle anymore bad news.

One of my DGD's friend's uncle has died, they suspect foul play. What a day I've had. I couldn't lose you too.

Elin

Thank goodness you are okay and your house is okay -

If the smell gets too bad - you could always go over to Tammi's - I know she would be happy to see you and take you in

She doesn't appear to get crabby when you wake her up - although I never woke her up in the middle of the night!! ;)

I am having trouble sleeping too - I am tired but can't sleep - getting ready to try again!!

PT sucks and now my leg hurts!!!

I think I am going to try and lay Effie down and go to bed early tonight.
Kate I hope your knee is healing and that you're not in too much pain. You will be in my prayers as long as needed. :wizard:
Everyone who sent hugs for my family problem thank you. I appreciate it more than I could ever express. :goodvibes
Good night DDA.

I was told that she posted on the Community Board so I created a thread over there. I was told that usually the moderators will leave it there for a few days and then move it to the In Memoriam section of the board.
Thanks Vicki

Kristine - that is just beautiful.

And I think that sums up beautifully how I feel about each and every one of you - including June.

When we send a tribute, in what ever form that becomes, could we include this poem?

That's a great idea Denise!

Sending lots more :grouphug: to you all. What a sad day. June always looked out for all of us! :grouphug:

Also, please keep Dawn in your thoughts as well. Caroline is doing much better but Dawn's blood pressure is the highest it's ever been.
Thanks for the update Amy.

Dawn - here's some :wizard: for you.

What could he be trying to say?

Thanks for the happy memory :grouphug:
