Is anyone here familiar with the "Flat Stanley" Project??

In a nut shell: (this is our letter)

Hi there!!
As part of our integrated Reading, Writing, Language, Social Studies, and Mathematics programs we have read a funny book called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The book is about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished "as flat as a pancake" when a bulletin board falls on him. Stanley is very, very flat but otherwise fine. The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers some real advantages to being flat. He can slide under doors, go down into sidewalk grates, and even fold himself up small enough to fit into an envelope and be mailed to California for an exciting vacation.
We are sending FLAT STANLEY to visit cities all over America and the WORLD. I have selected you to be FLAT STANLEY's "host family" and hope that you will send him back to me after a short visit. We would also appreciate it if you could snap a few pictures of Stanley’s visit so we can put them in our journal.
Thank you for letting my FLAT STANLEY come to visit you!

I am looking for volunteers!! Anyone willing to take on a Stanley??

Of course we'll help! :)

keep us posted. How stressful!!!!! I will keep her whole family in my thoughts and prayers!

IMMEDIATE PRAYERS NEEDED PLEASE!!!

Dawn just called me. Caroline is in the NICU, because she choked on her spit-up this afternoon to the point she couldn't breathe and had a seizure. Luckily, she and Dawn had just been to the doctor, so they rushed back and he stopped the seizure. She's had a spinal and she's about to undergo an EEG. So far everything has come back positive, so they're praying the seizure was a result of her lack of air. Hopefully Caroline just has an extreme case of reflux, but they won't know for a few hours yet.

I will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything else!

I wasn't on much last night as my SIL had to rush my Brother to the ER. He is having kidney stone issues again. They drugged him up and sent him home about midnight. They called today and will be doing surgery at 2:30 PM today. He has a stone that is completely stuck so they need to remove it. Any :grouphug: and :wizard: would be appreciated.

Deb
Got it. :wizard: Prayers for the doctors and your brother.

Elin do you have any

yet?

Speaking of which - so we know how Debbie is, I've lost track of where Ernesto is headed.

The sky darkened and the wind blew and the thunder raged... and we got the same 49 drops that Nicholas experienced on the soccer field this week! We so badly need rain.

And in answer to your Ernesto question... looks like Debbie is spared ( :cool1: ) and we will finally get rain this weekend.

By the way... I tried like the dickens to get on the DIS and post this afternoon with no luck. So I know I am probably behind, but it just was not cooperating!

I think that I have the kids basically ready for school now although when I had them try pants on yesterday that fit at the end of school I found that none yep noda, zero pairs of pants fit. They both got much taller. If any of you come across pants with a size 5 waist and a size 8 length let me know because that is what Hunter needs. I'm pretty sure that they don't exist. I have found a few pairs that will work for the time being, but if he grows 1/2 inch they won't be long enough they are size 7X slim. Nick on the other hand sometimes needs huskey :confused3

Deb
Blake needs an 8 for length so we just have him wear a belt. I found we had to get all new jeans all but 1 each had holes in the knees. Luckily that's what my mom bought for them when we visited this summer so saved me some money which is good because by the time we paid tuition and school supplies and bought DStepsons airfare back to IA we are strapped for a few weeks.

Andrew is built like that too. I've found Gap has pants with I think it's called elastiband. It's elastic inside the waistband that you can tighten by pulling it then puttting it in the inside button and it makes the pants smaller. Old Navy might also carry it, and I think I've also found a similar product at Target. I'll try to remember to check on the brand when I get home from the hospital tonight.
My mom bought some of those for the boys in the shorts and they worked great this summer as all my kids are odd sizes. They get that from my DH who is tall but skinny.

There's a new baby in the family! Maxwell Carson was born this afternoon and was a *healthy* 9lbs 11oz! ( :scared1: Should I mention that mom is 5ft6 and skinny as a stick when not pregnant? :scared1: )

Dawn - I hope Caroline does as well as can be - we're praying for you! If we can do anything, please let us know.

Are you looking for a place for Flat Stanley to visit? He can come here. This is actually how our traveling Pal Mickeys got their start. I suggested (I think!) that we needed to do a Flat Mickey and it grew like Topsy to become the Adventures they are now on!

Have fun trying for the milestone tonight guys - I'm off to bed! I need to reajust my body clock as its the last day of my holiday tomorrow so I have to get up for work on Thursday

:grouphug: It's always hard to go back to work after time off. At least it's to earn money for that trip in 2007. :)

Paula - two things:

1. Please read the Pal Mickey thread, I posted some pictures in your honor.

2. Look what I scrap-lifted for you!!
