Looking at the calendar - it will either be July 30/31 (Mon & Tues) so we would arrive on Saturday morning and leave on Tuesday night

or

the following week for August 6/7

I am pretty sure it is actually the July dates - b/c this year it is July 31/august 1

Hey July 30th is my birthday! (oh wait, I'll be one year older..nothing to celebrate...oh never mind! :lmao: )

Ok, I actually did some shirts for the twins yesterday. I found some darling stencils at Michael's and thought I could use them with the spray paint technique that I did for Katie's party, without having to mess with flour and water, and peeling it all off. Here's the results. Tell me what you think.

The Pooh bear is easier to see, but Leslie wanted both blue and pink for her Tinkerbell shirt. As long as she is happy, right? I'm going to be looking for more of these stencils!!!!!

We're wanting to go next Thanksgiving (2007) for a week and go to the Macy's Day Parade. I'm presuming that a hotel on the parade route would be the best (Times Square). We've never been, so this is completely new to us. Want a good hotel, info on how to view the parade, tours (NYC would be decorated for Christmas), etc. I'd appreciate any help you could give us.

Denise - I can vouch for the Marriott Marquis - great hotel. If you're also looking for something between midtown and the TS area, the Michelangelo Hotel is FABULOUS, and the Omni Berkshire Place is quite comfy, too. I was able to get great rates for all of these at a website that has since changed names/looks (I haven't been since 2003). The original site was www.express-res.com, and now it's something like QuikBook. The only hotel I've ever stayed at in NYC that I wouldn't recommend is the Warwick - teeny tiny rooms.

I've also e-mailed a friend of mine to ask where she and her family stayed - they were there Thanksgiving week last year, and stayed in a hotel right on the parade route - they watched it from their window.
 
Well my sister Debi and I met with Denise, Julia and Lynn and we really had a nice time. I was so happy she was able to come. We met at Olive Garden. Did a lot of talking. My sister Debi is still not 100% up to par so we all left about 9:15. I will post a picture later. Thomas had a good time. Lots of girl talk so he tried not to listen too much!!
We talked so much that we only got one picture on my camera and one on Denise's. :rotfl:
 
This is in the archives of an online site called "gothamist." It is from late 2004, but I would assume the retrofitting of the "ducks" would take a while so...

"As if seeing those ridiculous Hummer limousines wasn't jarring enough: Those amphibious land-and-water vehicles are coming to be NYC tour vehicles, according to the NY Post. There are already "Duck" Tours in Boston, Seattle, D.C. and Wisconsin, with the huge half-boat-half-truck contraptions. Gothamist is curious if transport company Stagecoach, rumored to be bringing the ducks to NYC, will be trying to do land-and-sea tours or if the ducks will just be to intimidate other drivers. Related: Cool Amphibious Manufacturers International, which sold eight ducks to Stagecoach."

I got to see Alex today after about a week and a half..i walked in the room, he looked at me and said "hey jen!" I havent heard him talk in so long and it was great to hear him! He had some type of device hooked up to his trach. to allow him to talk.He was talking to my dad and I for about 30 minutes, even joking around. He asked me how college was going and asked us if we saw the tshirts with his name on it. I was SO happy being in there.

He told us that he was even sitting up for 18 minutes--said it was dizzy, but thats to be expected after laying down so long..

People have been asking me for updates so i wanted to post this great one! thanks for all the prayers!

What great, encouraging news, Jen! Thanks for sharing.

maybe there will be a Duck tour next summer!!!!!!

Hmmm...I could maybe do a weekend if I had enough advance notice to plan my summer calendar accordingly....

(That is, if I'm still in this job next year! :teeth: )
 
So I received this email today.

In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.

And, there on television, she said it was "exciting." Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day...like her breasts.
They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.
The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!
