So, while you guys were having fun in DC, here's what I did last night:
Bet you didn't know I was a rock star!
One of my firm's major events of the summer is a Battle of the Bands, where legitimate bands (with at least one member of our firm in them) perform. It is a very LOUD, very fun, very tiring 7+ hour event, and it's my pleasure to coordinate the evening. We had about 450 people in attendance last night!
And for the past 5 years, there has always been a "surprise" act. The most infamous surprise act was back in 2001, when Frisky Kitty took the stage for the first time. FK was a band that arose out of a happy hour idea gone haywire, and produced 5 female members of the firm performing a song on stage, live, with real musical instruments, when no one had any sort of formal musical training (or talent). I was an inaugural member of that group, and after the raucuous reception (even though we were not very good - must have been the leather pants

), we decided to repeat the act with 4 songs in 2002. We then retired on a "high" note.
Fast forward to 2006, when we all (and a few new members) reconvened after the 2005 "surprise" act, Sourpuss, threatened FK's integrity as the greatest all female band to ever perform at BOB. It was one final swan song - heck, it was 7 final swan songs!!! I'm happy it's over, but also happy to report that we were a heck of a lot better in 2006 than in the past - and we survived!
