I know! I hope this baby doesn't make her appearance before he starts school. I want to be there on the first day and there is also an Open House several days before my c-section. I'll be really sad if I miss these!

My sister was born on my first day of Kindergarten and my mom was sad about it too. :wizard: that the little one holds off for at least a few days after school starts.

Plus it's a lot easier!!!

Yup! I did pack Katie's lunch for a while, but she was always forgetting to take it, and I'd have to run it to the school. Very frustrating!

Our school has a wonderful lunch program. They always have 2 choices plus a full salad bar. I'm always surprised when Katie gets home and tells me she had shrimp and salad for lunch. They really try to get the kids to try new things. It's a good thing!

Tammi, Elin and I just said yesterday that we hadn't heard from Ellen lately

I just checked and she was logged on this morning

I hope she's ok. Thanks for checking!

Can you tell I'm stressing a little over my "babies" starting Kindergarten? I can't believe 3 weeks from today they'll be at school...

We got all their school supplies this weekend. I'm seriously going to have a coronary when they get on that bus. Ok, I'm crying now just thinking about it. John is taking the whole day off to stay home with me that day, thank goodness!

I can kind of understand what you're going through. I mean, these are your babies we're talking about! It's a big thing. Like a step into independence.

My babies are starting preschool, so I'm beginning to feel a bit blue, myself.

However, I do enjoy the shopping for school supplies. I love the feeling of getting crayons for 20 cents and notebooks for a dime! I just love the bargains.

We've been going through clothes today, and that's the depressing thing for me. Jacob is ok, needs a couple of pairs of jeans, but Katie needs an entire wardrobe. I can't believe how fast she is growing. She's going to be taller than me in a couple of years! Yikes!!!!! We're heading to my sister's later this afternoon to try on hand me down's. Thank heaven for that! That will help our budget immensely!

I'm paying for b'fast every day (bus comes at 7am and there's no way they'll eat by then). How much do you estimate is costs you to make a lunch at home vs the school program? We have a really good one too with 3 choices I think each day.

how long after do you start work?

I would never want Steve home with me for comfort- he would just want ODTT ALL DAY LONG and not understand why I was so sad -oh he'd pretend to - but he would think he could fix it!!! He wouldn't want to me to be okay with being sad about it!!

All husbands must be the same. David is the same way about ODTT. He thinks it cures everything. Maybe for him but not always for me.

Before I get very far into reading on my lunch hour I thought I had better let you all know that the links to the DDA DC meet are probably broken since I am moving the pictures into their own album. I will go back and fix them later, guys! Promise.

I'm glad all of you had fun at the DC Meet. The pictures are great!

Is a Duck Tour a land and water tour?

Yep! The vehicles are WWII amphibious assault "trucks" and after the land portion of the tour they drive right into the water!

Alex usually looks at the menu the night before. It is the last question he will ask when I am tucking him in at night......What's for lunch tomorrow?? I will go check the lunch calendar on the school website and he tells me either take or buy. By now I have his likes and dislikes pretty much down. Now Austin...........he wants to take his lunch everyday. He says by the time he goes thru the lunch line he only has about 10 minutes to eat. Of course he is in middle school so they don't have teachers rushing them thru the line so I assume it gets pretty slow.

It costs me just under 30 dollars a month for one child. Alan and I figured that by the time you add in bread, filling, drink, fruit and a dessert, it was a bit more. I can't remember the figures, because this was when Katie was starting first grade. I also factored in my time, since it was a big production to get lunch together, and out the door!

I went to our school and talked with the lunch ladies, and was really impressed with the nutrition of their lunches. Buying the kids a lunch made me feel better since the entrees were more nutritious than the sandwiches Katie wanted and the desserts are usually smaller. I had to factor the nutrition in, as well!

The big seller for me, though, was that it was just easier. It's hard enough for me to get my kids up and going in the morning, add making lunches on top of that, and nobody is happy in the morning. I will still send lunches with them if they don't like what is being offered on the lunch calendar, but for the most part, they'd rather buy their lunch.

I don't even know if our school allows them to bring lunches. We had to pay for the year upfront. I didn't check into it since I have no desire to pack a lunch every night and it will force him to try new things instead of begging me to pack junk!

This is a fly by post
Just stopping in to say hello and wish everyone some :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug:
I'm tons of pages behind but hopefully will find time to catch up soon

:wave2:

Just caught up - decided not to reply to individual posts as there were far too many!

Glad you all had a good time in DC- the pictures look great... I got a kick out of recognising some of you and guessing who the other ones were :)

A little jealous that so many of you have met in real life! :rotfl:

I notice that we're on for another milestone tonight - only about 80 or so posts to go (maybe I should have had a p3 after all!) Unfotunately I'm going to miss out again as I'm headed for another early night... have to get up at 5am again for another day trip to London

Might not be around tomorrow night as by the time I get home I'll be knackered... so I'll catch y'all on Wednesday.

BTW - It's been flippin hot here today too! Just over 30 degrees Centigrade - no idea what that is in your money

:wave2:

hey Clare

you have hope - there is a duck tour in London - we might have to have a DDA meet there!!!

Mrs. Tia,

I was so happy when my mom told me I had mail.

Love,
Christopher

ETA: I don't know why all of the pics turned out different sizes :confused3
