He doesn't know how to swim! Can you believe that?! What he really needs is double knee replacement....but until some of this other stuff gets under control, I don't see that happening any time soon.

Can he use a recumbant bike? Do a weight machine for upper body and abs?

WOW!!! That's terrific!!!! I made the 10 lb mark today....I am very happy.. Bill has also lost 10, but his weight loss is slowing due to his medication..not sure how we will deal with the potential weight gain side effect of the meds. Seems strange that you tell a diabetic to lose weight, and then give him pills that hinder the process :confused3 :confused3

That is a confusing thing, isn't it? Hopefully, it will all work out! Just make sure you nag him to exercise. That's the hardest thing, but you guys can do it!

John and I were talking about that last night. We've decided to order 1 meal and 2 salads. We're going to split the meal. Not only will the portion be the right size, but we'll save money too! We get weekends off on this diet, so we are going to eat out one time per week and try to make a good choice for our entree. Tomorrow, we're going to get Mexican, and I think we'll get Fajitas without the sour cream, guacamole, beans.

That sounds so good! I'm trying to talk Alan in to taking me out either tonight or tomorrow night. Mexican sounds really good!

It's easier since John and I both are on it together. I just cook our veggies, salad, and he gets a low glycemic carb at dinner like brown rice, noodles, whole wheat bread (women don't). Then I make the kid's dinner. They are eating so much healthier too since I'm making lots of veggies and fruits. I think it's going to be great for us all. And on the weekends, they can eat what we do. We're going to grill lean meats, veggies for dinner tonight and tomorrow is our once a week treat eating out. Then back to the plan on Sunday. We're taking Fri dinner through Sun lunch off. Doing the plan Sun dinner through Friday lunch and afternoon snack.

Oh, and I had the blueberry muffins this am with some Polaner SUGAR FREE blackberry spread. They were actually really good that way, and the spread only had 15 calories total! No carbs or sugar, so I won't even count it as anything.

There are some really good low carb tortillas on the market these days! I use them for a lot of things. Brown rice is one of my favorite things, and now I can eat some again!!!! I'm trying to get my kids to eat it, but they are resisting. Oh well, resistance will be futile! I've gotten rid of all the white rice, white bread, etc., and they are learning to eat whole grains.

And so ends my P3 or P4 or ?????????? Honestly, I don't know what those letters/numbers mean, but I did have a little posting party!

Glynis, hope the b'day party is a huge success today! Tell Katie happy birthday!

Thanks. I hope the girls have fun! Alan is taking Jacob and the twins swimming so we'll have a bit more room (and less noise) in the house. I'll post some pictures this afternoon after the party is over. Unless I'm exhausted!

Our rec center offers water aerobics. Would his knees be able to handle something like that? Once school starts, I plan on taking some classes at the rec center, just to help tone up.

I'm lucky that my kids love whole grains. In fact, the more "stuff" it has in it, the better they like it. I need to get them over to Brown Rice. That's my fave.

What are the low carb tortillas? They'd be good on the weekend for wraps or homemade Mexican (our fave).

Ok, I did it! I exercised AGAIN! Did 1.15 miles this time in 20 minutes and got up to 4.5mph. The treadmill has tons of built in programs. I actually ran over 12 minutes straight. Maybe I wasn't in as bad of shape as I thought. But the "formal" exercise will be very, very good for me.

Great job, Denise! My exercising has been really down for the last month or so since it got hot. I just can't get any speed at all when it is humid and my asthma starts acting up. Hopefully, I'll be able to start my medicine for that in a few days and things will improve.

Glynis - I hope that Katie has a wonderful party today! It sounds like a lot of fun for all of you. That's great that Alan can take the younger kids out so that Katie can really enjoy her friends. Have a great time!!!

I have asthma too. I used my inhaler ahead of time and I can only exercise inside. If I run in the heat or cold, I really wheeze. I bought the treadmill 2 years ago for this purpose, and I am just now using it! Only a little late...

It's raining so the swim date is out. We're watching Wizard of Oz and then going to the mall. I might take them to the pool after dinner tonight since they can sleep late tomorrow.

TGIF!!! So this morning Theresa and I met at the park with our gangs. Even though it was miserably hot we had a good time. Emma talked Theresa's ear off!!

So the plan was for us to turn over Pal Mickey to Cassidy and Abi and guess what? I forgot to load him and his gear in the car! I felt horrible. I had loaded the car up with the diaper bag, cooler and both strollers, I had Ty with me and I guess I thought I took the box out with me. Thankfully the girls were very understanding and I will drop him off tomorrow when I pick Theresa up!

Theresa and I were talking about tomorrow and we decided to stay through lunch and then head back home. We figure with amount of us there that lunch should take a while anyway!!! I know she would like to stay a little longer but she doesn't want to be gone all day as she is visiting her mom and I can't blame her. We are both very excited!

Tonight I am headed to my girlfriend's to make baby shower favors and finish our planning. Keep the posting down, I already have around 10 pages to catch up on but it will have to wait!!

Enjoy the rest of today!!

Glynis -- I hope Katie has a great party. Happy Birthday, Katie! :sunny:

Ok, I'm supposed to be working on putting our budget together. While we were in Green Bay today for Chuck's specialist appointment (that is a thread for later), we stopped to look at travel trailers. We have been talking about upgrading our pop-up to a regular travel trailer since Chuck has been having his joint issues. We looked online last night at some Jayco ones and picked one that we liked. We stopped at a big dealership in Green Bay and didn't really like them as well as the Jayco we saw online. We stopped at our local Jayco dealer in Iron Mountain when we got home. They have the exact one that we were thinking about and it has all the bells and whistles. It is a 2006 model so is clearanced price (I never quite understand that but I guess they have to make room for the 2007's which will be out in the next month or so). It is reduced by $7000. They think that our pop-up is probably worth $3000. We can get financing and the interest is tax deductible because it has a bathroom, bedroom & kitchen.

Here it is. We would get the 26' version. That is all we need. It has two bunk beds in the back for the girls if they come (or our grandbabies in 5-10 years  if we are so lucky).

Here is the floor plan.

Now, I have to get off the DDA and put together the info to show Chuck that we can afford this. I know that it will cut into my Disney trips, but my new plan is to travel around the country and meet my DDA friends!!!! Chuck says that he would do that with me in this (& after we get a new vehicle to pull it because our suburban isn't reliable). We pay off both our vehicles within the year so next summer we could afford another vehicle payment!!!! So I could be knocking on DDA doors as early as next summer!!! :woohoo:

Wow! Vicki - you would be able to travel in style in that trailer! Hope the budget works out for you :thumbsup2

Night all!

And good morning early risers! (And Clare - where are you?)

:wave2: I'm here! It's been a busy week so I haven't been on much and I'm trying hard to catch up!

Lee's been working ridiculous hours all week - not getting home until 11pm when I'm fast asleep - I've not seen him for more than 5 minutes since Sunday. This evening I called to see what time he'd be home as I really wanted take out pizza... he was stuck late again... so I ordered enough pizza for his whole team and delivered it to them! If he can't see me at home I'll just go visit him at work :rotfl:

Kristine -- I say if the diabetic diet works for both of you stick with it! Losing 10 pounds in that two weeks is terrific!

Good afternoon all! My internet has been out all day which also means no phone since we have VOIP. It has been soo quiet in my house!

I have a question about this - how do you have internet without cable or a landline? Over here we can have VOIP but in order to have broadband you have to have a landline or cable - so you are paying a monthly line rental subscription for a phone anyway... :teacher:

You look FABULOUS! It is so noticeable in your face and "chest" area. Buying new bras yet?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

As a matter of fact... I had a ball a couple of weeks ago buying all new underwear! Needed all kinds of it.

My face and chest have certainly gotten smaller, but so has my bottom half. I am going to admit something here that I have only told my family up to this point. At Christmas the jeans I wore were a size 32. The ones I bought last month are size 22. Part of that is weight loss but part is the walking.
