Well, I'm out of here for the night! I've got Katie's birthday party tomorrow afternoon, so I probably won't be able to check in until late afternoon. I spent today getting ready. I'll take some pictures and show you what we get done. I think it will be a fun ice cream social!

See you all tomorrow!

I will have to try that....I am hoping are bodies will adjust soon!!!!

Here's a trick I learned early on after my surgery. When you go out to eat, get a to go box at the beginning of the meal. Take about 2/3-1/2 of your food and put it in the box before you start eating. That way, you've got your correct portion on your plate, and the rest is already boxed up out of the way, and the temptation to eat it is not there!

After a while, you get used to the smaller portions, and you'll begin to wonder how Americans can eat the large platefuls that we are used to seeing.

Paula this is so sad to hear. I really hope the newspaper gets something rolling. This just breaks my heart :guilty:

I have some sad news and some Fabulous news!!!!

SIL-T had to say goodbye to her 22 mth old daughter today. BUT… it happened in front of the local newspaper reporter and photographer who are going to run the story in the next few days. The reporter wants it to go in the Sunday paper so more people will get to read it. I think that is the best silver lining in all this junk.

How wonderful!

It looks like we will be getting a travel trailer. Chuck is going to sign the paperwork tomorrow probably. It really is a great idea to me. It is what I've always wanted to be able to do - travel, see part of the country but enjoy nature. He is also looking forward to it. For the next year, we can't go too far from home because our suburban is getting old and I wouldn't trust it on a long trip. However, next May, we should be able to purchase a better vehicle to pull it so by next summer we should have a long distance trip planned.

Good morning, everybody! Only about 3-4 pages for me to catch up on from this morning! Maybe it'll be under 40 when I get home from work! :rotfl:

Off to work. . .just 2 more days of the fill-in job!!! Have a great day!! :sunny:

I like that idea. I already am only eating 1/2 what they bring me and getting a box at the end of the meal. I can't eat the whole thing anymore but I still eat too much sometimes. This would be a great way to stop that. Thanks!

I'm sure the party will be great fun! I can't wait to see pictures and hear about it.

It will take a month or two but it will happen. Chuck & I didn't really know portion control and ate way too much. Both of us found after we started paying attention for awhile that we couldn't eat as much as we used to. I was amazed and I think Chuck was even more amazed. He has always been a big eater.

I'm off for the day. See you tonight. Should be a fun day but hectic. Prayers & pixiedust: for Paula and her family as well as those traveling and anyone else that needs it. Have a great day everyone!!!

I was thinking of printing these out and attaching them to the bags of cotton candy and popcorn at the party on Sat.

Love that idea!

Sounds like Olivia will be having a fantastic party! I hope it all goes well!

Alex and I are going to the Georgia Tech Olympic Aquatic Center today. This is totally against my Georgia Bulldog bloodline......but............He qualified for the Gwinnett County Swim Meet so that meet is at GA Tech this year. He has been practicing all week so I hope he does well. He is used to getting 1st place in his age division but I was explaining to him that the county meet is the top 50 swimmers and in 50 yard freestyle he is only 15th. He will be swimming in both relays, long free, breaststroke and butterfly. It will be fun but a long day. Wish him luck and I will check back with ya'll later.

The nurse also said my BP was a little higher than normal - as I told her - "do you think wanting to commit bodily harm to some of your co-workers might cause that?!?!?"

Lindsay -- I think we have some things in common.....how can people that are considered to be so smart, have no common sense and such big ego's? :rotfl2:

We definitely do need to do lunch soon. As soon as I figure out how we are going to accommodate Jessie, I'll PM you and we should pick a date.

I keep thinking about trying one of these plans...just can't decide which is best. Plus factoring in 4 kids + a mother that I still need to cook overwhelms me.

How long have you been on the plan?

I started on January 16, and have lost 52 pounds. The cost, through QVC, for the program that Denise and I are/were both on is about $185 a month, and that includes S&H. Through the NutriSystem website it is considerable more ($240?) but it is also a 7 day a week plan as opposed to the 5 days on/2 days off. Although you are not REALLY off their plan on those two days. They have guidelines to allow you to eat out or prepare your own meals during the weekend. It is a good way to monitor how much you eat, in my opinion, and a great teaching tool for the future.

Again, perfect for me. But maybe not when you have to cook for others. Although I imagine you are cooking for others anyway with such diverse needs in your family right now.

I decided to give it a try one month to see what I thought and here I am, awaiting my 7th shipment.

Sounds like a great plan, Vicki! Congrats on your decision.

That's exactly what I do, Glynis! After seeing what a REAL portion size is I was shocked at how much we all eat on a regular basis, and have come to expect as the norm.

:goodvibes Thanks, Marci!

I have an updated picture I need to post from our Boston trip and the Duck Tour. It is commercial as all get out, but I had to buy it because I was shocked to see what I looked like now! If I have time I will get it scanned and post it, with another picture from Christmas before I started the plan so you all can have a comparison.

Jennifer - have you considered flying Southwest? They fly direct from Austin to MCO, and just released their schedule through 12/10. I have no idea of the price per person since I don't know your dates, but maybe you could keep an eye out for a DING! fare through them. Just a thought.
I looked at southwest yesterday. the non stop going their puts us at mco at 5:30 pm on the 28th it is abut 9xx.xx still cheaper to rent a car and drive. I am signed up for ding so I am hoping.
