The Dasani Returns!!!! September Pre-Trip Adventures! THE NEWS REVEALED!

Love the new plan! I totally know about extra money. I have been trying to work the numbers here so that I could've gone in Sept for free dining, but it's just not gonna happen. I would love to go. It makes total sense to go during free dining. Good for you!

Honestly I would take Pop over CBR anyway! And free dining-can't beat that! I love that when you can book a package that it's all paid for before you leave. The tip not being included is something to think about, but for me I just put it on the room charge and worry about it later!

Ok, here's the thing. We started thinking, September really isn't that far away, and we have NO extra money to spend on a vacation. I threw some ideas around, and e-mailed my TA to discuss some things. Alot has changed. Here's the deal:

The old plans

September 5-13th, Caribbean Beach Resort with 40% room discount. WITHOUT park tickets. Total = $804.64. Great rate for a moderate. Well, we'd have to pay for food and stuff when we got there, so we were looking at close to $2,000 at LEAST.

The (possible) new plans

Magic Your Way with FREE Dining at Disney's Pop Century Resort, standard view, with a 9 day park hopper = $1,314.42.
That's total price, tax included. So I just called Darren and I think we're going to do it! We won't have to pay for food, which will help ALOT. I hate wasting the 40% discount, but I'm happy to try free dining because we've never done it.
Also, we'd only need 8 day park hopper tickets, so it will be a few dollars cheaper. I'm about to go crack open our piggy bank to see how much money we have saved so far. I'll check back in and tell you!!

Your plans sound great to me... you can't beat free dining :thumbsup2. Shame about missing out on your moderate resort but Pop Century will be great, we loved the All Stars and I would be happy to stay there again if we could get free dining.

What TS restaurants are you going to try?

glad to see your planning again. I can honestly tell you, while CBR is a beautiful resort, free dining is def worth it. Our biggest issue with CBR is the location of the food court in relation to where you are staying! Happy Re-Planning!

We will be at pop from Sept 5-14th with free dining. We did it last year and loved it. Maybe I'll see you there.
If you are going to do the free dining you might want to make your adrs asap.
I hope everything works out.

New plans look good! I hope it all works out for you. Honestly, the only reason we're able to go now is because we're staying offsite at my parents' timeshare. It is saving us a TON of money.

OMG, for free dining I wouldn't care where we stayed!!:lmao: Sounds like you guys have yourselves a great deal. YAY!!!

can stretch the credits out. Actually, Mike and I even split some counter service meals last year (since you only get 2 full meals a day on the plan) and it worked out great for us. Using 1 counter service credit + 1 snack credit, and splitting that seemed to work out for us sometimes. And other times we were starving and each got a full counter service meal. Snack credits are well used at breakfast if you're not a huge morning eater, but some days it's nice to save those credits and eat a heartier breakfast. (Splitting a counter service one day will come in especially handy if you do a sit down breakfast at any point in the trip)

I'm really only joking with you, but, whoa, that sounds like too much work for vacation. :lmao: I would go nuts trying to keep track of credits and meals and out of pocket and who eats more. :rotfl:

hehe, nah it's really not. It wasn't stressful or anything. We purposefully made sure we split at least one of our counter service meals because one of our sit down meals was 2 credits so we "lost out" on one table service meal. Other than that, it just depended on how hungry we were. Any time you eat, it shows your remaining credits on your receipt, so you don't really have to keep up with it in your head. :goodvibes

That sounds great, Heather! I can't believe there's still availability at Pop. We really liked it! Your new trip is saving you a lot of money; we decided to stay offsite this time to save some money and have a larger space, so we'll see! (Renting a 3 br at Windsor Hills for $399+tax for 7 nights.)

We did like cherbear with the DDP last year, and split meals b/c the CS meals were plenty large and that way we had breakfast and lunch. I had brought all these granola bars and applesauce and individual cereals for us and dd--guess who brought back 90% of it? :rolleyes1 You will certainly not be hungry that week!

Yay!! We stayed at Pop in 2006 (with free dining!) and loved it!

Now you'll get to plan lots of new, exciting restaurants to eat at! :cool1:

Don't forget to factor in money for tips, cause I'm pretty sure the new dining plan doesn't include tips, does it?

We're thinking of changing our plans for January, too. I just don't know if I can justify spending all that money to stay at the Wilderness Lodge! We're considering changing to Port Orleans Riverside... So much to think about!!

Anyway, good luck with working out your new plans! :yay:

good luck with changing plans, did you TA tell you that Pop was still available on the free dining, when we tried it last year, it was only 1 day into hte free dinning offer being available and they told us that each resort was only allowed a certain amount of rooms for free dinning, and that pop was out of there free dinning, but we could still stay there just not on the free dinning.

so we ended up at AS sports.

good luck.

and i have a question for people who use travel agents.

do they end up charging you a fee to use them...wouldnt it be cheaper to book the stuff on your own?

Glad you are still getting to go and with free dining to boot! We almost were unable to go this year but thanks to the stimulus checks the government gave out we are still going :thumbsup2 Have fun with the free dining! You're going to love it
