Main St. Bakery: Gourmet sandwiches and beautiful pastries are on the menu here. I have to get me something sweet before the trip's end. Sandwiches look great too.

YES! always a good idea to stop in here for a tasty treat :thumbsup2


Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe: At first glance I thought it was burgers and fries, but they also offer BBQ pork sandwiches, taco salad and chicken wraps. Nice selection.

the BBQ and taco salad plus the amazing toppings bar makes this a great stop!

Golden Oak Outpost: Chicken breast sandwich, chicken and veggie flatbreads and of course chicken fingers and fries. Another good one to keep in mind!

I always think I'd like to stop here...but is in an awkard location and it never works out...but I like flatbread!

Liberty Square Market: Hot dogs again.

I think they have alot of simple sides/snack items here too...

Colombia Harbour House: Some different sandwich innards including tuna and hummus make this place intriguing to me. Some fish and shrimp options as well as salad, soup and chicken fingers.

we LOVE this place! haven't eaten here practicially every trip :cool1: the BLT/chicken salad is AWESOME! and eat upstairs

Pinocchio Village Haus: Meatball subs, pizza, penne and chicken parmesean, caesar and mediterranean salads all look so good, coupled with the possibility of watching i.a.s.w. make this is my top choice.

this is the kids top choice for our dinning pleasures in Jan. :)





I need an honest opinion re: ADRs from my Dis friends.

Background info: This is for our first full day, we already have a 50's PT ADR for dinner and are planning a full DHS touring day.


#1 -- Currently we are booked at Hollywood & Vine in Hollywood Studios at 8:10am. This means we get into HS before it opens, which is a very exciting prospect. It also means that we get to the park early and stay until late with no hopping around.
Downside = it's a character breakfast, but it's the "Disney Jr." crew --- these are not characters I care to meet. Will I be bored? Will I be annoyed at the childish atmosphere? Or will I be able to enjoy a good breakfast and sort of wave hello to the characters as they pass?

#2 -- Just in case, we were just able to snag a great breakfast at Boma, at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 7:30 that same morning. I loooove Boma for breakfast, and I always love a visit to the AKL.
Downside = no early park entry and it's a little difficult to maneuver a ride from Pop to AKL that early in the am. It also means taking some time out of our park day to move around, and possibly missing rope drop which I had wanted to see.

So what do you all think?

Hmmm, it's the singing and dancing that put me off originally. I wonder if I could get a table as far away as possible... in some remote corner? lol!
I won't have a car and I agree with you, Boma would be too hard to get to. I could see it coming down to hailing a taxi.



Thank you all for your opinions, they were much appreciated. We have decided to stick with the original plan to eat at Hollywood & Vine. When we check in I'm going to request a quiet table if such a thing exists. I hate to skip Boma but the last time we ate there we had an 8:30 reservation and barely made it on time. Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be for this trip.



Ok so I'm late on the discussion....

I'd vote to go w/ Boma if that is where you'd like to eat and hail a cab...it won't cost you that much. We took a cab from Pop to CR last yr and cost us $20...so this would have to be less...

but that said if you don't want to be hopping around and just get into HS for your day then H&V won't be bad...you maybe surprised and have a fun time :goodvibes

First up on the list are the counter service options in Future World

Sunshine Seasons (The Land pavilion): Asian options, soups, salads, and sandwiches, and some nice looking desserts make me want to try this place. I've been in here, looked around and saw nothing to my liking, but I'd be willing to check it out again. I've never eaten here.

I was eh about it...worth another try though...:confused:

Electric Umbrella (Innoventions pavilion): Typical burger and fries fare, this is where I've eaten every trip. I like it, but would like to skip it to give myself a chance to see something I haven't yet. Apparently they've removed the topping bar too :(

SKIP IT!

Now for the World Showcase.


Kringla Bakeri Og Cafe (Norway): Smoked salmon, sandwiches and beer. Probably not a stop I want to make (it's the fish and beer thing again!)

OMG no don't skip this....the treats/desserts here are beyond good and it's usually not very crowded, plus has a nice covered seating area right outsite...we always stop in here...the pretzels, school bread, and other yummies...they have other sandwiches besides salmon too :thumbsup2


Sommerfest (Germany): Bratwurst and beer. Another no. I nearly starved to death in Germany for three weeks a few years ago (survived on chocolate.)

if you like caramel and chocolate, make a stop in the Karmel Kitchen...oh heaven :cloud9: plus the tradtional pretzels here are very GOOD!

Liberty Inn (USA): Just burgers and fries again. I hope to not eat much of that.

there are a few more offerings...but still basically a burger place...the huge turkey legs and other treats are in the stands outside this area too!

Tangerine Cafe (Morocco): Lamb and couscous... well, I ate at Restaurant Marrakesh and loved it! So maybe I could give this menu a better look... but no lamb.

I liked eating here...but was only one in my group...:sad2:

Boulangerie Pâtisserie (France):Yummy looking sandwiches, quiches and pastries -- I'm definitely going to poke my nose in here!

this place is always crowded and has a very narrow serving line w/ counters on each side...I felt a bit intimiated by the choices, accent of CM's and just how it is set up...but the treat I chose was good...


4. I have a problem with my clothes for Disney. Mainly, I have all kinds of Disney t-shirts but I don't want to wear them in Disney... makes no sense? I'll get there.

The problem is that they're t-shirts and I find it too warm for anything but tank tops. Here are a few of my favourites (excuse the crappy iPhone pics!):

I always seem to wear t-shirts down there w/ cami/tanks underneath...but I get you...you need to be comfy...but I'd still bring a few of your favorites for those JIC moments...:idea:

You totally sound like me with the shirts! I'm always the same way. Never fits me right, too heavy, blah blah. It is very important to have the right things to wear when visiting the world. :lmao:

I've never encountered a worse headache than Student Loans. I am so depressed over the weather... it's not even fit. I could literally cry every morning when I wake up to more of the same thing.

Normally I'd vote Boma too, but we all decided as a group that it would just be a little too much hassle for that early in the morning, and some of us don't think we can get up early enough. :lmao:

Dear Diary,

I've always been a tiny girl. 5'1" is not where I wanted to stop growing! Small shoulders, short legs, no torso, it's all fine and dandy when I'm a healthy weight. (And someone taller is close to reach things on high shelves!)

But now I'm up to almost 150lbs. That does not sound like a lot to most people, and I certainly don't look heavy to most people, but my BMI indicates that I'm overweight, and it feels like an awful lot to me on my otherwise tiny body.

First, Diary, you must know this about me -- I do not care too much about my looks, I certainly do not care what others think of me and I don't particularly care what the nasty scale tells me. I am happily married to a man who loves every inch of me. What I do care about is me and how I feel.

How do I feel? Glad you asked, Diary. I feel terrible. I feel lazy. I feel like I don't fit comfortably in my clothes any more. I feel like I am unhealthy and out of shape. I can't run for more than a minute and a half before nearly collapsing! I want to be healthy, active and yes, maybe a little thinner.

I don't want to make a weight goal, I want to make a "feel-good" goal. It's a lot more flexible but it's harder to pinpoint when I've gotten there. So I'll make some little goals that I definitely can do.

1. No pop. None! Pepsi is my weakness, I sometimes have two a day. So no more, at all. I know myself too well to think I could get away with one every now and then.

2. No chips. I went 45 days without chips this spring and I felt fantastic! Now I'm back to a bowl of chips every night and I feel yucky and nauseous and heavy.

3. 30 minutes of exercise, 5 times a week. Whether it be on the Wii fit, taking the dogs for a walk or whatever.

4. Eat 3 or 4 balanced meals and no snacking (unless it's healthy stuff!)

Diary, if I can keep up these goals until I get to Disney then I think I'd be happy with myself, even if the scale tells me I have not changed.

I'm on MyFitnessPal.com (and if anyone else is and wants to be my friend, please feel free, I'd love more friends! teekathepony is my username there too!) so I hope that they can maybe get me on track.

Diary, you should also know that my work situation has changed. For the last two years I worked every evening while Mr. D worked days. We never saw each other and never ate a meal together. Well, our store moved out of the mall and is only open 9-5 now. Although that means there's no work for me and I'm checking into employment insurance and the possibility of needing another job, it does mean that I'm home all day. Instead of wasting it on the computer, I hereby make a pledge to get myself in shape, my house clean, and have a good meal with my husband every day for dinner.

Well, Diary, thanks for listening. I guess I'll go get off the computer and clean up the house then do some exercise!

I started a thread in the WISH boards for people going to Disney in August/Sept who wanted to feel/be healthier for their trip or who wanted to lose weight. Really, anyone can join. Feel free to join in that discussion! I've lost 13 lbs since March (not a very fast rate but I'm just so glad my weight is down, not up!) Disney was my motivation and I feel better and ready to go! (I still have more weight to lose so I'm going to keep going after my trip.)

I'd be so happy with 13 pounds in 4 months! I've been trying since forever and have absolutely ZERO motivation, ugh. I wish Mr. Darling were on the weight loss train to kick my a$$ sometimes, but he's less motivated than I am.

First, YAY! for getting an iPhone! I also got the 3gs instead of the new one! My very first iPhone and I'm in love with it. :lovestruc I also have myfitnesspal! But I dont really use it. :confused3 My Wii fit board is my personal favorite way to exercise! And I have a pepsi problem as well. Usually around lunch time I feel like I HAVE to have one. Its bad...real bad.

Now I dont know if I've ever mention this on my PTR...but...I have a very unhealthy addiction to anything Harry Potter and I was very excited to read your Harry Potter post. (thank you for making the text white. waiting for DBF to be home before I go see it. He's been gone A LOOONG time. :sad2: ) I <3 Ron. :love:

Haha! Pepsi is everywhere I go! Everyone always has some! And I havent seen it yet AND I AM DYING! I am waiting for him because...well I guess I like him a little :rotfl: and it would be nice to see it together. I wanted to go to a midnight release show...but no..he couldnt do that. So I'm still waiting to see it...... :sad:

Today is cold and rainy again, but I have to say we had a beautiful weekend! It was hot and sunny and I spent the whole thing outside, swimming in the Mira River with the dogs, soaking up the sun and just generally enjoying our two whole days of summer! So I filled my vitamin D reserves a bit and I'm raring to go.

By the way, I have added chapter links to post #1 to make things easier.

As far as trip things go, I have very little to update today. I have gotten a few minor things checked off my list including rolling change from our "Disney Bank" (to the tune of about $45 :rotfl2: I guess we didn't do so good at saving this year!) The rest of my to-do list looks a little like this:

-Double check park times
-Organize/count clothes to pack
-Take cans & bottles to recycle depot (yayy more money for the Disney Bank!)
-Check on prices and info for trail rides at Ft. Wilderness (I think that's where it is?)
-Call about cell phone roaming packages available
-Print list of ADRs w/ times & confirmation #'s
-Make a full itinerary & print
-MAKE ALIEN GREEN MICKEY HEADS!

I entered my flights into my Air Canada app on my phone so I'm ready for that.

My cousin M & her bf R have booked their Medieval Times tickets and are checking into their Universal tickets as well. So now we're all (almost) ready to roll!

Well, that's about all I have for today, have a magical day everyone! :wizard:

Dear Diary,
I’ve been trying, I promise. But I just keep seeing the scale creep up and up! I’ve been eating healthier by far. No Pepsi, no chips! No snacking after dinner either! And I’ve been doing a little exercise every day, as well as trying to do more housecleaning and things that get me moving. Admittedly, we still aren’t getting the nicest weather, otherwise I’d be taking the dogs out for more walks (who wants to walk in pouring rain?) but I hate to make excuses. Maybe it’s muscle mass I’m gaining, or maybe it’s water I’m retaining. You can say whatever you want to say, but I’m getting sick of it so it’s time to turn it up a notch.
Today I am 147.2lbs. Still technically down from my 150 starting point, but not as much as I would like. I’ve been hovering around this mark for too long; it’s time to see some real changes.
So as of today, when I exercise and I feel tired, ready to stop, I will push myself for just 10 more minutes. When I get hungry between meals, it's an absolute no to any form of snack. When i think "fast food once in a while can't hurt" I will mentally give myself a smack and say "yes it can!" It's time to turn up the heat on this weight loss regime. After all, Diary, I only have 37 days before I wanted to be down 15lbs!
Signing off now, Diary. I'm going to put some tv on and hop on the gazelle for a half hour.
