The Daily Grind - A What's Happening in Your Life Thread

Today was my husband's birthday, number 43. I spent the morning at the gym doing an hour of cardio and then a 1/2 hour personal training partner. My exercise buddy is at Disney World and it is much nicer when there are two of us to divide the attention of the trainer. I am looking forward to not being able to walk tomorrow morning.
That is about the highlight of my day...

For about two years I've spent all of my spare time updating my house getting it ready to sell this spring. Recently my sister-in-law decided she would like to move back here from Arizona. She has offered to buy my house and I am willing to sell it to her. I have been busy, busy, busy working on this house and now.....I'm playing the waiting game.

I am trying to deal with the thought of packing up my house, moving away from my two daughters (young adults), and training my replacement at work (whoever that might be).

I am excited, sad, nervous -- just a bundle of emotions right now. And until my sister-in-law sells her house and has more concrete plans, I'm just sort of stuck and not doing anything.

I don't think this really appropriately responds to the intent of the thread, but I just felt like saying it. :confused3

Debbie, of course it's appropriate to post how your feeling. This wouldn't be a true online community otherwise. Feel free to vent anytime!

Sorry, Nikki Louise, for not dropping by sooner on this thread.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Had a great time last night in the posting war. Not sure if I stayed up on all the conversations:rotfl:

Nothing special on the schedule this today. Watching the weather report - we have a nasty weatherman who likes snow. May need to plan to run errands either tonight or tomorrow night because it is looking sketchy for Friday into Saturday.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Today I am doing battle with a piece of equipment in the lab. No matter what I have tried I can't get any of the results it spits out to make sense. Hopefully today is the day. If anyone knows anything about measuring d-dimers speak now!

Excitement at the library today!
Books that were in storage for a year and a half are coming back home! Hopefully, new shelves will be delivered today.

This is my post 3,000!

We're moving to our new home in just 3 days 0_0;; Everything's pretty much packed, but it still feels like there's tons to do. We're only re-locating five blocks away, but it's still gonna suck because it's so freaking COLD!~* At least we'll have much more space to look forward to, but in short my life at the moment is all packed away in boxesXD

ROFL Michelle, I thought you said you were off to play pirates, not do pilates. Wow, my eyes must be hurting tonight!

.
lol at pirates! hey, maybe i can make pirate noises at pilates? :rotfl:

Today- only one meeting. woo hoo. but lots of work on new content for keyword landing pages, ppts and learning this new marketo system.

AI tonight- they are in my hometown- Dallas!

heading to a Quincinera this weekend in Houston for my cousin's daughter (Alice themed!), so getting ready to head down for that with my mom and sisters. I think the last one i went to was one i was in in jr. high!

Right now, I'm visiting a happy place because our work website for paying invoices seems to have crashed, and today is the cutoff for getting it all done for month (and fiscal year) end. Joy, joy, joy.

I hope it comes back soon...

Have never been to a Quincinera. But I have seen the movie. Does that count?
There's a movie? lol- we have to do mass at 2:30 and then a dinner for the 'sponsors' (you can pay for certain items like the cake and be a 'sponsor') and family followed by the reception. It is like a wedding. She has a 'court' and they perform all of these dances they have been practicing for months.

good thing DH is staying at home with my son, not sure a 2yo would make it through all of that. :rotfl:

If you live anywhere it gets COLD, Murphy's Law states you will move when, and only when, its the most cold it can get for your area.
Three of the last four times we moved, it was -20 to -40 below. You would think we would learn to NOT move in Jan. or Feb. when living in Fairbanks, AK! :lmao:

Good luck with the move! ;)

There's a movie?

A Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-winner, Quinceañera is a small film with a big heart. The plot unfolds at the leisurely pace of life itself, yet there's not a wasted moment in the script. The story follows the travails of young Magdalena (Emily Rios), a teen in the Mexican-American, but gentrifying, Los Angeles neighborhood of Echo Park. As Magdalena's 15th birthday approaches, and the festive coming-of-age quinceañera party that accompanies it, life throws her a curve ball in the form of an unexpected--and possibly miraculous--pregnancy. In disgrace, she turns to her elderly uncle Tomas and sometime gangbanger and not-quite-uncloseted gay cousin Carlos. The interactions of these unlikely family members ring completely true, with stellar performances by Dios as well as Chalo González as her warm Tio Tomas and Jesse Garcia as the smoldering Carlos. The portrayal of life in Echo Park is intimate and effortless, as the teens slide interchangeably between Spanish and English; crime and gang activities coexist with trendy gay couples and their fashionable remodels. And in the heart of it all, the family ties among the three lead characters prove unconventional--and unbreakable. The DVD also contains a commentary with the filmmakers and cast members, a Q&A with them, and a "making-of" featurette. --A.T. Hurley

Product Description

As Magdalena's (Emily Rios) 15th birthday approaches, her working class family prepares for the all-important Quinceañera - a lavish coming-of-age celebration. To help with expenses, Magdalena is forced to wear a hand-me-down party dress and abandon her dream of arriving in a Hummer limousine. But when her father discovers she's pregnant and refuses to believe the incredible truth - she's actually still a virgin - Magdalena moves in with her elderly Uncle Tomas (Chalo González) and black sheep cousin Carlos (Jesse Garcia). Her newfound family is soon put to the test, however, when an unexpected crisis threatens to tear them apart, and Magdalena learns what it truly means to come of age.

Ok, When I first read it I thought you said 20 to 40 degrees and I thought that was ridiculously cold. We've had a few mornings this winter stay below 40 for a while and I just get numb hands and feet. But then I looked again and realized you said 20 to 40 BELOW! :scared1: I honestly can't even comprehend that. Anything below 50 is way too cold for me. But I prefer at least 60.

:rotfl2: Yea... I can understand that actually. I was born and raised in Alaska. Grew up in Anchorage and end up in Fairbanks. We went to Maui in December. First time ever I was out of AK in Dec. Now I know why ... I came back and thought "Why in the world do I live here? We have FOUR MONTHS or more of winter left! :scared: We always took vacations on the 'ends' of winter before .. Like in September and May ;).
But we do have wonderful summers actually .. Fairbanks can get in the 80's.
And we do have Denali National Park.

Today I get to teach the same one hour lab 4 times in a row. It becomes a drag after a while. Sometimes I have to ask the group if I already told them something because the sessions blend together. Todays lab is putting on surgical gowns which is harder than it looks. It is always good for a laugh or two.

Phoenixblue- Everytime I try to quote you in my reply post I get the message that my post is to short. I'm posting from my itouch with Eticket since my computer died. So I will try without quoting. Just wanted to say that I've always wanted to take an Alaskan cruise. It sounds pretty. But I wouldn't hang around for winter up there!

EXACTLY!! :rotfl: Last week it was in the middle thirties (felt almost tropical), but now we're back down in the below freezing marks again. We were going to wait until at least March, but we happened to find a place we really want so...here goes nothing! *is cold already just thinking about it*

It'll be cold but I can't imagine it being -20!!! I don't know how you would have survived that!~ Lots of indoor breaks I suppose.
