The Daily Grind - A What's Happening in Your Life Thread

My 50th is coming up and I want to take the family to a mystery theater dinner show. There are a few in our area, and I am trying to figure out if I want to go to the one in Los Angeles or Orange County (same company).

Yes, there are more important things that I'm dealing with, but this is the one I want to think about right now. :)

I'd rather do that than go crazy thinking about my brother who only calls me when he needs something, and whose rent I've been paying for the past 6 months. I told him that I have made the last payment, so Feb 1 is coming up, and, of course, I haven't heard from him since December... (ahem)

So, I don't know if Los Angeles would be better for the dinner show or Orange County

Today was an interesting day. The weather was a bit wacky and I discovered that my mother and I had each other's debit cards when I stopped at Quick Chek around 6:30 a.m. That was fun. lol We apparently switched 'em by accident when we paid for Dad's bday dinner (we split it --- big family) on Saturday. She was even able to use my debit card three times on Sunday without getting stopped by an employee. That sure doesn't make me feel safe! lol

The kids were pretty good today. I took them to the library at one point and they checked out books like mad. They really love going down there and it's unfortunate that fifth graders don't have library anymore. I'm glad I can take them once a month.

I'm waiting for The Bachelor to start. I'm trying to decide if I should play Diner Dash or watch Oprah with Rosie O'Donnell on it (on the TIVO). Decisions, decisions!

This week I'm trying to plan out next week while the DH is on a solo trip to the world. Since we are still on RSV lock down, I can't take the boys out. So, figuring out groceries and what not for the next two weeks. Two days after he returns I go back to work.
Crazy busy times! At least I know I won't be bored :)

Today was my bday...and it POURED..now I'm relaxing because I have to get up at 5:30am tomorrow morning.

Well my day ended on a positive note after the less than stellar start.

I was able to get new tires - called at 3:00, had them in stock, walked the keys over and the tires were on by 4:00. Wonderful service.

The simple things...

50th divided by 2, Mary Jo!!

Well, our computer died. Which is why I am not able to get here as much. I'm on DH's laptop now, but he takes it to work. It got red lines all over the screen and then went out. The computer seems to be on, but you just see weird blocks or nothing. We will try replacing the video card this weekend and see if that is it. If not, guess we are in the market for a new computer.

The school DH teaches at gets "Ski Week" off in Feb. The school I teach at, a Pre-K thru 12 private school, where my boys go too, does not. So DH gets to hang around the house while we all have to go to school. But we get out June 2nd, I believe, and he has to go longer in to June.

And things are looking good for my job. I teach 3 year olds. I'm getting another student next week which helps to justify my being there. My job is iffy if the numbers aren't good. In this economy many people are not sending their kids to preschool but it seems like that may be picking up. Interest in next year is looking good too.

So, this means that we get to get family APs again for DLR this summer!

Happy B-Day soon Mary Jo! :yay:

It has been a long day. Went to work at 6 this morning and just finishing up now after taking a couple hours off for dinner. My boss informed me today that I have to teach a class tomorrow for 50 people that have never taught before so that meant spending the day with power point and lots of pictures. Oh well at least I think that I am ready now.

Morning everyone! Today is starting out on a positive note for me - slept until the alarm went off, not a typical feat for me. Looking forward to not having to travel today as I usually do on Tuesdays.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning everyone! Thought the day was starting off a disaster as I woke up to complete darkness! No Power!! But just as they would have made the call to cancel school it came back on so now I'm off to a Horticulture Conference and the kiddies are off to school.

Lots of wind and rain here in Nova Scotia last night ...wild weather for us but nothing compared to tornado country.

Morning all- 3 meetings today. pick up the kiddo from day care, play, eat dinner and off to pilates. so can't complain. that's all i got! :goodvibes

have a great one!

I'm just hoping it will finally stop raining today so I can take the kids outside! It is tough to stay inside all day with three and four year olds!

Great thread!
I haven't been on the boards much.
After spending just over a month away from home I had to hit the ground running here at home the first week we were back.
Then the depression set in and the last 2 weeks have been rough for me.
I am starting to come out of it now, as there is a trip to plan.
We are going on the ABD trip in April, so I don't have much time, and there is a lot to do. :thumbsup2:):cheer2::cheer2:

For about two years I've spent all of my spare time updating my house getting it ready to sell this spring. Recently my sister-in-law decided she would like to move back here from Arizona. She has offered to buy my house and I am willing to sell it to her. I have been busy, busy, busy working on this house and now.....I'm playing the waiting game.

I am trying to deal with the thought of packing up my house, moving away from my two daughters (young adults), and training my replacement at work (whoever that might be).

I am excited, sad, nervous -- just a bundle of emotions right now. And until my sister-in-law sells her house and has more concrete plans, I'm just sort of stuck and not doing anything.

I don't think this really appropriately responds to the intent of the thread, but I just felt like saying it. :confused3

Today I got up late, due a giant headache, which I still have now, went to the supermarket, and started doing a giant tidy of my room, so I can move the furniture in my room around. Thanks to this being the middle week of a 3 week exam period, with only one exam, which was maths and so a piece of cake, I'm just sorting stuff out since I don't much else need doing at the moment. I just got a iPod Shuffle today, for 2010 is the year of me losing weight... slowly, and I hate having stuff in my pockets when I'm on my bike. Only problem being is that shuffles don't like to work in iTunes!

Will probably play some Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, or some Sims, and then head to bed!

Oh, and I just downloaded Dance Dance Revolution for my iPhone...

Seems to be a lot of "house" stuff going on.
Over the holiday break DH (Splat25) put in our kitchen and dinning room floors - after having the bamboo laminate for THREE YEARS. Yep, it was sitting in the house for 3 years before we finally found time and energy to put it in. :rotfl2:
Then, with the dinning room empty we thought "oh, we should paint". So I painted. Then we thought, "Humm, we need new trim", so we bought new trim, stainned it and are putting that in. Then we thought again (we need to stop doing that :rotfl:) and decided our light/fan fixture wasn't bright enough and we needed a new light. So we now have a new dinning room light fixture sitting in our living room!
And our Christmas tree is still up with half the lights and ornaments still, we did 'start' taking it down, we just haven't finished yet. :rolleyes1

Isn't this the way it always goes?!?! We were just going to do our kitchen, now we have branched into the family room, which is right next tot he kitchen. Our thinking was if one was all updated and the other not, it would look strange.

It's only money :lmao::scared1:

ROFL Michelle, I thought you said you were off to play pirates, not do pilates. Wow, my eyes must be hurting tonight!

I hope everyone had a fabulous day. I just got done sweating my butt off on the Wii Fit Plus. I got high score on everything I did today and burned 154 calories! WOOHOO!

What's everyone's plans for tonight? Idol is on in ten.
