In an attempt to keep everyone connected online, a few DISers were discussing the option of having a thread where we can participate in daily banter about what's going on in our lives. Similar to the weekend thread, I thought I'd begin the thread here.

So, what's happening? :goodvibes

Lazily trying to plan a week's work of classes for this week after putting it off all weekend :lmao:

Only 3 weeks til the next school break tho :)

:goodvibes

We have a February break coming up. I am looking forward to that even though it is much shorter than it has been in past years.

We get a week in February, then we're back in school for 5 weeks, then off for 2 weeks over Easter! (not that I'm counting honest :lmao:)

How long do you guys (teachy guys :) ) get off each year in the US? :)

:goodvibes

The February break for us is a weekend combined with two other days. We then get a little over a week off for spring break around Easter. The winter holiday break was about a week and a half, but two with the weekends added in.

Kinda sounds like us over here then :)

We get 6 weeks off in summer, then a week off in October (around Halloween), two weeks for Christmas, then that February week off (around Valentines day) before our two week Easter break. Then one final week off at the end of May before being back in until the end of July then those 6 weeks off and the cycle starts again!

I find it really hard not "wishing my life away" by counting down to the next break, if you know what I mean :scared1:

I'm planning my baby brother's 40th birthday, which is next month and it's ever so slightly depressing me, I just can't believe he's going to be 40. I'm also comptemplating taking down my Christmas tree later. :teeth:

Oh me, well here's my daily schedule: wake up at 5am, go to work, eat lunch, come home, eat dinner, do some youth activity every night (my husband's a youth minister - I call that my other job. ha), watch TV, go to bed around 10:30pm. Do it all again the next day.

No wonder I love my vacations so much.

I started a diet and workout plan called "insanity" this week, so I've been fighting through that. Other than that, working and having fun as usual! Wed is my day off from work and workouts, so I think I'll go to a park for a day. Maybe DHS so I can try and beat my 204k TSM score

Thanks Nikki for starting this thread -

My world is kind of crazy right now but I guess that is to be expected. I am working on refinancing my house on my own and it is going well. I actually just need to set the date for the settlement but need to work out a couple of things before I can do that - so keep your fingers crossed that my appointment with the attorney on Tuesday goes well.

In regards to school schedules, ours is pretty depressing. We have February 15th off and 1/2 day on March 5th. No extended breakes until early April when we have 2 days on either side of the first weekend. I am trying to make a plan to go to Williamsburg to visit my oldest daughter that weekend.

Starting to really plan our June trip, that and the DIS meets in Hershey and Indy are about it for the schedule for me.

How do you like "Insanity"? Some of my co-workers are doing it right now. I'm curious.

We are interviewing contractors for our kitchen remodel. After waiting 14 years in this house, we finally have saved enough to do it. Scary, expensive and thrilling.

I knew I didn't have inexpensive taste, but I never realized how expensive my taste really is! :scared1:

You will be so happy. I did not wait that long - have the dishwasher racks literally start falling to pieces helped - were going to need to buy all new appliances. I absolutely love my kitchen. I definitely cook more since I have the space and storage.

My taste was not so inexpensive either although I did forgo stainless appliances - custom cabinets and granite counters.

I just got my kitchen done - new cabinets (refacing), sink, awesome new faucet, and counter top. It looks so unbelievably different, I can't stop going in there and staring! I love my new countertop as well. I did a lot of research on corian vs. laminate and different kinds of sinks. I have to say they have a new type of laminate out that looks like stone - but is 1/3 the price. It's textured and GORGEOUS. I'm shocked I chose that bc I usually love the most expensive, lol. So glad it's all done! I should post some pics...

Besides that I got back on my exercising routine this weekend. Walked an hour both days (listened to Teresa's and Kathy's podcasts and was LOL), and did my Wii Active. Just got done making lunch for the week - grilled BBQ pork chops with sliced pineapple. I feel in love with the Hawaiian BBQ at Earl of Sandwich and was dying to try a concoction on my own. Very yummy! Also made some mac and cheese and green beans on the side.

Now just vegging, was supposed to go watch the game at my parents but I knew I would pig out and am trying to be good, lol. Hope everyone is having a good day!

My life is pretty boring right now- very much feeling like every other person in their last year of school- e.g. WHAT THE HECK AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE?!?!

I can't get into teaching college because the places are so hard to come by, so my life is on hold for a year until I get more 'life experience'.

My current long term, long distance relationship is going well, but it is harder and harder to be away from each other, especially not knowing where he is going to be next year! It could be the other end of the country for all we know!

Friendships at uni are getting a bit stretched at the minute as everyone is stressing about our final year and the rest of our lives. Plus I get the distinct feeling that my main group of friends doesn't want me around any more! (I am a paranoid person, but now it is just getting obvious)

Ok, sorry for the vent, but I am just feeling a bit down at the moment. Not helped by the pile of books next to me that I need to read. :(

Cheer up! You've got your health, you're young, and you have countless possibilities ahead! :thumbsup2

Life with an 8 month old baby basically consists of:
6am wakeup *groan* change diaper, feed, play, nap, change diaper, feed, play, nap, change diaper, feed, play, nap, change diaper, feed, play, down for the night and then Mama crashes until the 2am feeding time.
Murmph

Darn good thing the little critter is so cute! ;)

:lovestruc Miss those days - it seemed so overwhelming then but enjoy the time. It goes by so fast.

I'm getting ready for a quick trip to New Hampshire to surprise a friend next weekend. Of course this entails me getting out one of my most impressive Renaissance costumes. And making sure I have all the pieces I need. Including the corset. Why do I pick these things? It is my choice. I'm the one MAKING them. I wonder sometimes.
