So is there no way to do this sponsorship thing without meeting to exchange papers?

There isnt now as DLP have changed the rules recently and the person sponsoring has to be there at the passport office with the person buying the pass

This is definately the way it works now.

We went last week and sponsored 2 of our party. The lady at the AP office (at the Studios) had me fill the form out infront of her and then she took my AP card and took all details from it to put on the computer.

If you get temp ones from the gates of the Park, the AP holder has to be there. And then when you go to the Passport Office to get the full pass with photo, the Sponsor has to be with them then aswell.

This makes it virtually impossible to sponsor doesn't it, unless you are travelling with the people you are sponsoring. Meeting at the gate at a certain time and then going to the AP office could take hours out of your day when you've paid a lot of money to be there and time is precious.

Can't you buy a normal day entry ticket with out the sponsor there at the gate and meet them at the AP office and have the cost of the day ticket taken off the AP price?
I am meeting Fifi Rose when we go in 12 days time and as you say, I am very concious to not take up too much of her time.
:)

Theoretically this should be possible. Sponsoring can be lucrative so if it didn't take too long it is certainly worth it. However it won't be worth it if the sponsor doesn't get at least one whole pass free - ie at least 3 sponsorships. The likelihood of being able to arrange it again within the year is so small.

It would depend if you wanted the under 7 free AP aswell.

If you buy a day ticket, you get the amount back when you go to the AP office. But if you pay for a child under 7, and then want the free AP, you don't get the money back for the childs ticket. Does this make sense? I know what I mean, not sure if I've written it prop though:confused3

The other way of doing it, would be the way we did. We went to the Guest Services at the entrance to the Studio and did it there. It is before the gate, so you don't need to buy a ticket. The whole thing is done there, the full pass with photo.

This is probably the easiest way of doing it now for anyone who is going to be Sponsored:)

I didn't know you could use Studios Guest Services to get the whole AP. That's good to know, thanks.:thumbsup2
