OK, F&F is over. For those of us who missed it, what are the current offers? From what I've gathered, the following are available right now. I just don't know if they can all be used together:

1.) $1,200 credit if you purchase "soon" (this was in my DVC hardback book)

2.) A free vacation if you own stock

3.) An extra year's points (ie, 05 & 06) <this one I'm a little confused on>

Anyone have any other info?

We signed up today. We got the $1,200 credit and 05 & 06 points. In regards to the points, our points for 05 (for the full year, not a prorated amount) were placed in our account today and on September 1, 2006, our 2006 points will be placed into our account.

I have a call into our guide to see about the free vacation for stock owners.

Thanks for your quick reply, and CONGRATULATIONS on your purchase! :cool1:

I sure hope it's possible to get BOTH!

Just spoke with our guide and was told that the shareholder promo is either or. You get either the $8 discount or 100 points to apply to a vacation this year. You can't bank the 100 points and they have to be used by 12/31/2006.

Actually your 2006 Use Year points are already in your account! You could be using them right now to make reservations for stays between Sept 1, 2006 and Aug 31, 2007. (Well, technically for stays between Sept 1, 2006 and Jan 8, 2007 since 11 months from now is the furthest out you can book something at your home resort). You could also borrow 2006 points into your current (2005) Use Year for stays from now until Aug 31, 2006.

I don't suppose the $1,200 credit applies to sold out resorts?

Unfortunately you are right...it doesn't. S.O. resorts are $92. per pt...for now..last year this time they were $89.

But, remember...SSR is at $98 per point, so the price with the discount is $90 per point ($8 x 150 points = $1200). The sold-out resorts are $92 per point, so only $2 per point more than SSR. You're just talking $300 here for a 150 point initial purchase.

Are the promos for new purchases only or can we use them for an add-on?

You can use them for addons. I talked to our rep the other day because we are interested in buying more points and she confirmed this. Now we're justing waiting to see if any better incentives come along before the price increase and also to find out more about the stockholder bonus.

Don't forget re: SSR, the annual dues are significantly lower than the sold outs & your contract is 12 years longer!

Yeah $300 more for 12 years less use. Sounds like an unwise move IMO. 12 years of use is a lot. It isn't as hard as some lead others to believe when booking at the 7 month window. Buy SSR, save money, enjoy the extra 12 years.

Well booking at the 7 month window is very doable, NOW.

But every year there are thousands of new DVC members, How many rooms will VWL(or other small capacity/high demand) resorts add every year?

IMO it would be UNWISE to expect membership to grow, but not anticipate the 7 month window becoming more competitive.

IMO it would also be unwise to ignore resale value, and those small resorts tend to command higher resale prices REGARDLESS of the expiration date. The $300 in question could be more than made up in resale.

Is getting '05 points standard? We have the stockholder offer, I'm thinking the $8 off is a better deal. But, I am wondering how and if we can also get '05 points. Is it a special deal you got or should I expect to get that as well. Maybe I'm just confused about the "use year" thing!

Depends on the offer but it seems like people getting the Aug or Sept use year(time of year you get your new points for the year) are getting 05 points too. That means you would say get 150 points for 05 and then 150 on Aug or Sept of 06. :goodvibes

What if you buy 200 points? Would you get 200 points for August 2005?

I think that already totally depends on when you want to go. I tried booking a one bedroom at BCV today for December 3rd, and we are still WELL into the "owners only" time period....and, guess what??...no room at the inn.

I suspect that for some resorts, at some times of the year, non-owners may already begin to find that, while scattered days here and there may be easy, consecutive days at high demand times are going to become harder and harder to get....even right at the 7 month window.

Yes according to those who bought recently. whatever points you buy...150,200,250 etc. that is the amount of points you get each use year but it is always better to ask. the OP had a Sept use year...and got 05 points and then in Sept 06 she will get what ever her contract is again. Hope that makes sense. :goodvibes
