Let me just say that Ally totally rocks - in so many ways!!!
First of all, she was up at 5:55am yesterday to begin our "most excellent adventure" (thanx DisneyJen!!!

) to AK for the day.
Jeff is on a golf weekend somewhere in GA - the name Deliverance keeps coming up when I ask him where he's going. Insert crazed banjo music here....
So Ally and I decided to head to WDW for the day. I let her pick the park and she chose AK just so she could ride Everest. She said she wanted to ridde it 5-7 times and we came awfully close! Also, I wanted to get her on Dinosaur, cause it's one of the few attractions that she has never seen at Disney yet.
So we pulled out of the driveway at 6:34am, got halfway out of the subdivision (and it's a LARGE subdivision!!!), and realized I forgot to feed Bucky. So we turned around, I ran in, dumped his food in a bowl, said a quick prayer that the neighbors not forget to come and let him out during the day, and back into the car - finally off again at 6:40am.
I told Ally we could grab breakfast "on the road." She thought that meant the first McD's we saw. No. The second McD's? No. This went on for every single fast food restaurant we saw all the way to the interstate. Oy vey! It's gonna be a long day.....
It takes us 30 minutes to get to I-95, but finally, we're on our way. Again, every exit, I hear, "Mommy when are we gonna stop, I staaaaarving!" I was really hoping she'd conk out in the backseat and we could grab something as soon as we got to AK. But she was not going to sleep, and she was not going to rest until she ate. So we had to take a 12 minute detour through a McD's drivethru for breakfast. Yes, I timed it. I was on a schedule and I didn't want to miss a minute of AK's operating hours!!!!
We pulled into the AK parking lot at 9:10am (see what that 12 minute stop did to us?????), and entered the park around 9:30am. This was the first time I'd ever parked at AK. It was weird. I really missed the resort busses. In fact, I just flat out missed the whole resort experience. That to me is part of the whole Disney experience. I love the smell of the resorts, well, as long as it doesn't include following Jeff or Ally into the rest room first thing in the morning!

I love the smell of the Disney buses. I love the rocking motion that soothes me first thing in the morning riding to the parks. I love giving little thank you mints to the bus drivers and seeing the surprise on their faces. I love racing with the throngs to crash the gates for ropedrop. Ahhhhh..... but not this time.
We parked in Unicorn 21-29 and I took a pic so I'd know where to find the car later. But of course I had the human sponge with me, and Ally soaks it all up and never forgets. So I didn't even need to check my camera when we left later. She knew where we were parked. And if it weren't for her, I would have never found the car - more on that later.....
The whole way down, we were talking about how we'd spend the day. All Ally wanted to do was ride EE, over and over again. She mentioned KRR, and Dinosaur, too. But as the mother, the chauffeur, the buyer of all things Disney, I figured I should get a couple of votes in here too. I wanted to see the parade, having never seen the Jammin Jungle parade at AK. I also wanted to take Ally to Conservation Station - she had never been here before and I hadn't seen it in over 10 years! Also, I though she'd enjoy the Nemo show, and I wanted both of us to see Flights of Wonder.
And don't forget our pin lanyards. We were on a mission. We had collections to complete and new collections to start. I taught her the Mission Impossible theme song, and instructed her that she needed to hum the first few bars whenever she spotted a CM with a pin lanyard.
She looked at me and said, "Uh uh. That's not my thing, Mommy. That you and Daddy's thing."

My baby was dising me! And I don't mean DISing me, I mean dising me!!! Not her thing? Who is this child and what wild pack of animals raised her????
I'll pretend I didn't hear her, and maybe she'll come around. So first thing we see as we approach the gates, is Timon and Rafiki out front posing for pictures and signing autographs. We have never gotten either one of these characters' autographs, so into line for Timon we go.
Unfortunately, it was so humid and hazy, that my camera kept fogging up, but I did get these pics....
Timon got pretty excited when he saw that he had his very own page in the autograph book! All made from pages designed by the fabulous designers here on the DIS. The only problem is that this book is soooo heavy to carry around. I made 130 pages of characters, and carry around a small clipboard to make it easier for them to sign. But it's so worth it when the characters get excited about it, and also to use for scrapbooks.
I kept wiping my camera lens and trying to get pics really fast, but after taking it out of the a/c in the car, it just wouldn't acclimate to the outside air!
But wait!!! Did you see that CM with Timon? "Na na naaaaa!" Ally just rolled her eyes at me, and very maturely asked the CM if she could trade pins with her. I on the other hand, continued to hum the MI theme and realized that Ally was not my daughter.....
After making a successful trade, Ally decided she didn't want to wait for Rafiki, she wanted to get to Everest!!!!
So we headed through the gates, into paradise!!! Finally! Even though it's only a 2 1/2 hr drive, it was ME doing the driving, not Mr Disney Bus Driver, or Mr Disney Monorail Driver, or Mr Disney Boat Capt. ME! And I was already tired! Oy vey! But not to worry - there's something about Disney that doesn't allow for sleepiness in the parks!!! Not when I'm with my little BFF for the day!!!
Ally grabbed my hand and started tugging me toward Everest. The plan was to grab a FP for EE, then go through the stand-by line.
As soon as we got to EE, we noticed that the stand-by line was only 10 minutes! Score! So we grabbed our FPs and then got in line. So far, so good!!!!
When we got up to the CM, I asked if we could sit in the front seat. Ally looked at me with an expression that said, "you are just the coolest Mommy in all of Coolville!" The CM pointed us to another line, and Ally's expression turned to, "what kind of totally uncool mother are you to make us wait in another line?" Luckily there was only one couple in line ahead of us for the coveted FRONT ROW!!!
Soon we were boarding, and I grabbed the camera to capture as much of the ride as I could. Brace yourselves, if you've never ridden EE, there are a couple of spoilers coming up!!!
Leaving the station...
Heading up The "real" Hill...
Looking off to the left as we made our way up The "real" Hill....
Beginning down the hill...... what suprise is around the corner????
Oh, no!!! The track has been torn away - what will become of us???
Looking off in the distance....
OK, no pics for awhile, we're flying backwards through the dark!!! I swear, EE has been vamped up a bit since it first opened. Every time I ride I feel the G's so much more going backwards. I found myself screaming right along with Ally. And my body feels it so much more, too. I love it!!!!
Right before we head forward again.... So THAT's what happened to the track!!!
Flying forward now, screaming and screaming!!! Loving Everest... for the first time of the day. Note: if there's a first time, there's always a next time, and another next time, and another next time..... see what's coming???
When we got off and wandered through the dump shop, I began the chant, "Na na naaaa," and Ally looked at me like I had two heads. No more the coolest mom in Coolville. More like the dorkiest mom in Dorkville. Which of course, only makes me chant louder!!! So we head off over to a couple of CMs for some great trades!!
Next stop.... Dinosaur!!!!
