The Tickle me Elmo craze that is!!! The 10th anniversary edition was released today.
DH was at work in Manhattan so I sent him to the Toy's R US in Times Square at opening to get DS a Tickle Me Elmo. Well he called me and told me he couldn't believe how people were acting! They were pushing, jumping over the tables, complaining that there was a limit to 1 per person. It was so crazy!!

Wait five minutes and the "craziness" will be over. Talk about over-hyped

I saw it on Good Morning America, and thought it was hilarious!! :rotfl:

I found him quite hysterical this morning! We may have to get one...after the craze dies down a bit for when we finally adopt our DD from China!

Oh, Pleez

I bought into all the hype last Christmas season over the Elmo Knows My Name.
I was so sure DGS, Paul, age 3, was going to love him. He was more thrilled to play with the Little Tikes kitchen set I bought for his little sister! :teeth:

For $39.99, I'll pass.

several listed on ebay.....

And they are selling for almost double!! DH will do anything for money ;)
He was able to buy a couple of them and will sell them on Ebay too.

am I the only person who thinks this is a useless toy? my sister called me this morning to tell me about it and it just sounds boring to me. I mean, what does the kids do with it? just watches it, giggles a bit, etc, but can't really play much with it. its like elmo is doing the playing. I have no interest in getting one for the kids, I think they would be bored in minutes. I much prefer things that make them use their imaginations. although since its noisy, I almost guarantee that my inlaws will be buying it for the twins. lol.

Oh boy this brings back memories. 10 years ago I was serving my first year as a Toys R Us employee.

We all got to wear a sticker that said, "No we have no Elmos, we have no Elmos today!" (as in the banana song? )

It was crazy, every distant relative asked me to get one for them.

DH works for Target so I asked him to buy one for DD this morning. We'll save it for him for Christmas. DH said it's cute, but doesn't think it's worth the $39.99 he paid for it...

A good canidate for this year's proof positive toy that there will always be some parents who go to any lengths to buy "the toy."

But those Sony Playstations 3's if they ever come out will probably end up going for THOUSANDS on Ebay.

You know, I didn't think my DD3 would like it either, but then she saw it in action on TV with me, and was laughing hysterically. She doesn't normally ask for things if she really truly doesn't want them, she's very particular about the toys she picks out. (I guess I'm lucky for that!) And she immediately asked to put this on her list for Santa. If anything, the dogs and cats will be tortured by it. :teeth:

They had a few pallets of them at BJ's this morning- they were $34.99....

I bought one for my younger dd just a few minutes ago. I had told my mom she would like a Tickle Me ELmo for Christmas as she loves Elmo. I had no idea about this new one until I saw it on the news. I didn't want my mom killing herself trying to get one! I went to a few online places and they were sold-out. They had them at walmart.com, though, so it's on the way!!!

We already have a possessed "Let's Pretend Elmo" that DS got for Christmas last year from my mother (who picked it up at a garage sale, along with a guitar-playing Rockstar Elmo for DNiece KittyKate). The darn thing will go off all by itself at random and sometimes in the middle of the night I wake up because I hear "VrrooomvrroomvrooomvrooomAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH*crashsoundeffect*ELMOWINSTHERACE!" coming from the living room.

If my mother buys a TMX Elmo for DS, I will kill her. :rotfl2:

Holy Crap I just looked at EBAY and they are already pushing $100 there.
