Hi all!
I dont know if this has already been posted, if so, sorry!

but there was some question before I went on my trip (a couple weeks ago) on what the huge cranes were for at the Polynesian.

well, while at WDW, I found out the true story! They are lifting each longhouse off the ground and putting in a new foundation.

there ya go! no knew construction going up, just new foundations!

happy day!

Laura :)

Hmmmm... I wonder if the longhouses were slowly sinking like those test pilings they put in!!

When we parked at the TTC last Thursday, I wondered what those 3 large cranes in the distance were for. I was thinking Shades of Green.

They were not sinking. They were open under the longhouses and they wanted to cement them so moisture could not be trapped and also raise they slightly because some of the longhouses were lower than the grounds around them and the rain was all going towards the foundations.

have a good Christmas.

Steve

When I was just there the three large cranes were at shades of green. Are you sure you saw cranes at the polynesian? When I first saw them I thought they were at the polynesian but later discovered their true location when I drove by the entrance to SOG.

This is where the smell was originating from...the mildew growing under the building...the water was getting trapped and had no where to go.

Forgive me, I've been on hiatus for a while after having to postpone my Dec. trip to next Dec....

We have ressies right now for Dec 2003. Will this stuff be done by then?

THANKS!:D

I think not. If you wanted to raise an entire structure you would use jacks to raise it like they do when they move a house. The cranes are for the construction at SoG. They are doubling in size.
