I have read not so great reviews about this place but would really love to try it out. Is it worth wasting a DP table credit on?

I don't think it's any worse than anyplace else you could spend a DDP credit. (There are good reviews too, not just bad ones)

We have always had good experiences at Coral Reef and it is one of our favorites. If you like seafood and want to see the cool fish tank give it a try and judge for yourself.

We love it at the Coral Reef. We have never had a bad meal and the kids absolutely love it there as well:thumbsup2

After CR moved from my must do list to my won't do list (it was my fav. years ago, but the last few visits have been very disappointing for a lot of reasons), I personally wouldn't use a TS credit on it anymore. Perhaps one of the most telling things about CR is that the most common positive review is of the steak. Seems to me for a seafood restaurant a lot of people can't find any fish on the menu that they might like.

However, if you have never been there before it is worth a try to see if you yourself fall under the Yay's or Nay's. You have to take everything you read on these boards for what it is, but only you can decide if you like a place or not.

DD and I went in Nov, and we had a great meal, great service. So much so we are going back in October

We had lunch at Coral Reef July 4...we all enjoyed our lunch.

The kids enjoyed sitting and watching the fish in the tank swim by...actually sharks and a huge turtle too! It was neat.

No complaints from anyone...even DH enjoyed his lunch and he can be a bit pickey!

I had read the negative reviews as well...so I was kind of "iffy" to have lunch there but sure glad we did. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies. I think that we will go ahead and try it out. I had no problem get a reservation so that kind of scared me but like someone said we will just have to see for ourselves if we like it. Every one has their own opinions on things. Last year we hated Akershus but I have read many positive reviews for it so we will see ;)

I loved both my experiences at the Coral Reef! I read (on these boards) that the best time to go is the first seating at lunch 11:30 and found that the service was great at that time. I also thought the food was very good. Maybe some people don't like fish, then again there is a steak entree that is very good as well. Give it a try for yourself, I'm glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers, since it is now one of my favorite restaurants!

We are another family that enjoyed our meal at Coral Reef.
The service was the only thing we found unenjoyable. We had to point out our empty drink cups not once but twice. And the empty plates were on the table for a bit too long for us.
The food itself was good. We didn't eat there last year but the year before. And we are planning to go back this Sept!!!

We had a great experience there. Kids loved the fish tanks, server was wonderful, Mahi Mahi amazing (although DH didn't think he got enough foodpopcorn::). My 14 month old sat there the entire time without trying to get up and no fussing.

Try the Coral Reef, it is one of our faves. The food is good, the atmosphere relaxing and unique with the great tank.

We have had both seafood and steak-we enjoyed both. The Chocolate Wave dessert is very yummy!

This is a nice place for us with our 3 boys (DS11, DS4, and DS2-who is autistic and has been to this restaurant twice and liked it).

Thanks for sharing this! We have an 11:30am ADR and we're trying it for the first time - good to hear!

We tried it on our last trip this past May and ejoyed it. We did not LOVE it, but it was good. We were able to get a table next to the tank, so I think that helps quite a bit;)

We ate there over Easter break and thought the food was pretty good, the fish tank wall neat, but the noise was horrible! :confused3 So many very noisy/hollering kids and it seemed to echo!:confused3

You should check it out once just for the view of the fish tank. They have pretty good steaks there too.

When we 1st booked our trip my husband had CR at the top of his list! At first there were no openings for dinner, but we kept check the dining reservations website daily. Now we have a 5:40 ressie on our first day! I think it worked out just perfect!:goodvibes

Despite the mixed reviews, we've had two great experiences. One was exceptional... we were celebrating DD's birthday and were lucky enough to get a tank-side table. Extra special! I must say the food and service exceeded our expectations. Why not give it a try?
