I think that remodeling the Contpry will cost big bucks or Disney would already have done it. This is WDW's oldest resort. I remember reading about how the resort was constructed. It was like a honey colmb with rooms inserted by cranes into the shell. This maybe a huge project. I think the resort has excess capacity and that they are looking to DVC for the cash influx. I think, they are not getting $300 a night at the Contempory.

The really interesting thing would be the point cost. We agree that the resort is in a great location. Imagion a beutiful new 5 story resort with villas. Great new views and new restaurants. I think the resort could be better than Poly if they did the rooms right.

This would truely be a premium resort. The only drawback maybe cost of points and points needed to stay there. It could be more than BCV and VWL.

The Contemporary Tower is the section that used compartmentalized construction techniques. In the years after completion, the building settled enough that the same technique could not be used for rehab. The whole resort has been renovated several times (the entire Tower section has been in the last few years.)

The rumor about DVC in that area concerns only the Garden Wings that sit to the sides and behind the Tower. The Wings used conventional contruction techniques and offer no particular challenge like the Tower.

While expensive to renovate, the resort has been kept up to similar standards of all other WDW resorts.
