Hey all. I was just reading that Bush has announced that there will still be half of the $700 B bailout for BO to deal with when he gets into office. What do you all think about this?? I personally find it to be a great move by Bush to force BO to have his named attached to something and take some resposibility. He's very good and dodging the bullet and keeping his mitts off of anything that could be controversial and now he's stuck with half of the bailout and figuring out how to use it:rotfl: . Bush is a clever man!

people probably just want you to find all that happiness right away, and can't imagine you could ALSO be happy now.

by the way...isn't there a movie? um...four weddings......hugh grant...:scared1: good luck widdat!
:rotfl: You have a point though; this is how my older relatives are. They honestly don't see how a woman could be happy and not married by age 22. Try not to let it annoy me though by reminding myself they grew up in a very different era. My great-parents got married when my great-grandmother was 15 and my great-grandfather was 17, I think. I can't even imagine that. Then again, that was around 1904. Different times, different expectations.

SD, I know exactly how you feel -- there's something about those mid-20s and that season of life when everyone around you gets married then thinks you too should be married. Stick to your guns - you're in no hurry, you have a great life, you love your life, and you know that God knows what is best, far better than you or any of your well-meaning friends do.

That being said - some strategies for combating this -- come up with some interesting answers to those intrusive questions .. 'I would get married but this would jeopardize my standing with the CIA - they're trying to save money, ya know and have you seen the price of background checks these days??? Not to mention two of them???' Folks on this board could come up with some far better 'reasons' why you aren't married yet -- I'm no match for their wit. The more far-fetched the reasons, the easier it will be to laugh then hastily change the subject to less annoying topics.

Then plan something really fun to do after those weddings -- if they involve a weekend out of town then plan something for the weekend after - something unique to what you love to do and with friends/family that you love. Looking forward to something will remind you that your life, as an unmarried person, is full of meaning and that, married or not, you have a dazzling future ahead of you. And one of my favorite things about not being married is that I get so many great opportunities to spend time with my friends, without the added complications of a husband or children.

One problem with the CIA excuse... a relative is in the CIA! I'd never hear the end of it if I cracked on their place of employment. :rotfl: Still the idea is good though. My friends aren't nearly as bad about it all as some in my family are. Thankfully next year is no family weddings (as of yet...). People just irritate me with that question. I'm at that point where almost every single one of my friends is married or engaged, so I "stick out" in the crowd. :rotfl: Doing something fun is a great idea.

I think I will head off to sleep in a few minutes. I'm still not over my cold. :sad1:

You should join us at our Whack-A-Tree Anti-PC rallies. BTW, we haven't had one of those in awhile....:rolleyes1
I'm up for one!

I love weddings, but the part I don't love is the inevitable "When are you getting married?" question, like 25 is some kind of old maid. Bah humbug. I'm an independent person. I always have been. I would like to get married and have children some day. But I get more than a little irked at the expectation that my life is supposedly to neatly fit into some people's perfect little chronological schemas. :sad2:
So....when are you getting married? :rolleyes1

:lmao:

Next, our friends from across the aisle will be thinking we are into arranged marriages. It will go right along with our reputation of being exclusive and narrow minded.

Well, DH's childhood best friend has a daughter who is three months older than DS; we've all decided they're getting married.
Don't know how narrow-minded it is, though, because they're Indian. But I guess because she doesn't have a kenyan father that makes us racist. ;)

I feel the need to correct you here. It's actually the non denominational/secular winter holiday season, if you please.

Well, if you'd read Debbie's posts the other night, you'd have thought I was already engaged seeing as she was planning the number and names of my non-existant children! :rotfl2:

But, SD, whatever will I do with the little blankies I knitted for baby Donald, Sarah, and Ron?!?!??! Not to mention the bridesmaid dress I picked out?!?!?

:rotfl: Is that an actual dress, or is that photoshopped?

And I meant to ask before, but... who the heck is Ron? Please don't tell me Ron as in Ron Paul! :rotfl2:

Oops. I am so embarassed and ashamed! My own political hero, and I didn't even think of that possibility. I was really thinking you were a closet Paulniac and forgot to tell us. :rotfl:

The dress isn't bad for something like Miss 4th of July. But otherwise... yikes, way too much going on!

I am surprised though that you haven't used your super sleuth spy abilities to conduct a full background check on nanner's law school friend. If you find a picture, toss it our way! T&G and I want to know what he looks like. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I only got through pg 6 but I like the way y'all think. Is it too late to join? I usually stay away from the CB because there are some down-right unfriendly people out there.
