Oh, and you sounded quite angry in your post, too. I didn't see where they got that one.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It's classic psychological projection. My post MADE him/her angry, so it must be me that's the angry person. It's also classic modern liberalism. Reasoned, rational debate is "angry" (or racist, hateful, etc.) when one can't counter it. Immediately, they go to the personal attacks. Frankly, it's just confirmation that I'm on the right track.

Someone mentioned "An Inconvenient Book". I just bought it Saturday. I hope it's as good as it looks like it will be. I didn't get my Books A Million mailer on time, so I got to use the sale discounts late. I also bought Christmas Sweater since a couple of you mentioned it was really good. Now, if only I'll stop staying on this site so much, maybe I'll actually get to read them. :surfweb: I doubt that will happen, though. I'll just get less sleep. :rotfl2:

Both books are good. I just finished The Christmas Sweater a couple of days ago. It is a fiction book with no political stuff in it, so it is a nice break from all the political BS that we have had to put up this election season. Also Glenn Beck was talking about how much he wants to beat Stephen King on the New York times best seller list since king called Glenn "Satan's mentally challenged younger brother" and each book bought comes one step closer to making King's head explode when he sees his name after Glenn's!

No joke.;) It's KILLING me that King's new book Just After Sunset is in hardback and will stay that way till next year!!:headache:

Hi! I'm in catch-up mode again!

Agent Pleakley, I am so, so sorry about your dad. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if you need anything. I don't live too far away!

Please be in prayer for my aunt. She fell and broke her hip Saturday. She has been staying with my mom because her rental home was foreclosed on so my mom found her lying outside after she fell. My mom is very upset because this is bringing back bad memories of my dad in the hospital and his death earlier this year. I may be taking a trip down there to help.

Just saw- Agent Pleakley, so sorry about your dad. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I went through the same thing with my grandmother. It's so very trying for everyone involved. Best thoughts to all of you for your aunt's quick and complete recovery.

Thanks, loco. My aunt is only 57 is this is a pretty unusual injury for someone her age. All my aunts pampered my dad while he was sick so I want to be there for them when they need it. They are all great ladies.

Someone upthread asked about Fox's ratings - here they are from 2007, according to Broadcast & Cable, Jan 2008

Fox News once again ended the year as cable's top news network followed by CNN, with few radical ratings dips or surges for either network. But among the channels with smaller audience totals-MSNBC, CNBC and Headline News-2007 was a year of growth.

For the year in primetime, Fox News was the No. 6-ranked cable channel behind USA, TNT, ESPN, TBS and Lifetime. That's two notches higher than its ranking last year. CNN, its closest news competitor, was No. 26, down one.

Fox News was down 1% in total viewers in total day and 3% in the 25-54 demographic, but still boasts most of the top-rated shows on cable news led by The O'Reilly Factor , which has been No. 1 in its 8 p.m. time slot for 85 consecutive months.

CNN posted a slight uptick in total day in viewers and the demo (1% and 3%, respectively) and posted a 7% gain in primetime (8-11 p.m.) in the 25-54 demo.

MSNBC continued to grow in total day in viewers (17%) and the demo (15%) and was up in primetime 28% in total viewers and 22% in the demo. But its morning ratings eroded after Don Imus was deposed in April 2007. Year-to-year in the morning MSNBC is down 9% in total viewers and 21% in the demo with Joe Scarborough's Morning Joe .

In total day, CNBC was up 27% in viewers and 25% in the demo and in primetime gained 34% in total viewers and 17% in the demo. The fledgling Fox Business Network is averaging a mere 6,000 viewers in total day and 15,000 in primetime for its first three months on the air. But the channel is not widely available.

CNN Headline News was up in total day 12% in viewers and 11% in the demo and 14% in primetime viewers and 16% in the demo.

Hmmmm...very interesting....

from MacLean's, Jan 2008

Who is the fairest U.S. news station of them all? According to a new study, it's Fox News, a channel best known for its theatrics and blowhard right-wing commentators. The study, conducted at the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University, found that the Fox News Channel's coverage of both Democratic and Republican presidential candidates was almost perfectly balanced. Not so at the other major networks, the study found, which raises some serious concerns about the general state of American television news.

That newsy tidbit reminds me of this newsy tidbit ... from Newsbusters --

Is MSNBC being rewarded for having backed Obama? That’s what Jim Pinkerton suggests. On this evening’s Fox News Watch, the columnist and New America Foundation fellow cited the news that GE Capital, a subsidiary of MSNBC’s parent company GE, has received a $139 billion government loan guarantee.

Host Jon Scott opened this evening’s show opened with a clip of Chris Matthews [in a story that NB was first to report], saying that he saw as his “job” making the Obama presidency a success. Pinkerton unloaded.

According to Drudge, it looks official - HC as SoS....

[kinda confirms to me that she does know where the bodies are buried]

would it be rude to just reiterate this and point out who the president was in august of this year?

"Negotiators have finalized a deal which will see the complete withdrawal of US troops from Iraq by 2011, the top Iraqi heading the team told AFP Friday."

i'm just sayin', you-know-who didn't have anything to do with this, and i'm NOT gonna sit down and listen to the guy claim credit for "ending the war in iraq". so there.

You didn't know? "He's" the reason the Earth rotates around it's axis.:rolleyes1

I couldn't believe it. We were out at a restaurant tonight and I could see ESPN on one of the screens. They were showing BO and MO and their CBS interview.....ON ESPN! Apparently one of the pressing issues that H discussed in the interview was his desire to see a playoff for the college football championship.

I mean the economy is in the crapper, inflation is up, people losing their homes, the auto industry is crumbling. We have Russia moving missiles into Eastern Europe. Our troops still in Iraq and Bin Laden still on the loose.;) Not to mention that we have taxes to raise and health care problems to solve.

All this and he is worried about a college football playoff!!!!!! This guy is a piece of work!

Here is part of an article about it:

Obama still stumping for playoff

During Sunday's interview with CBS' Steve Kroft, Obama laid out exactly what kind of playoff system he envisions: "Eight teams. That would be three rounds to determine a national champion. It would add three extra weeks to the season. You could trim back on the regular season. I don't know any serious fan of college football who has disagreed with me on this."

BCS coordinator John Swofford responded Sunday night: "First of all I want to congratulate newly-elected President Obama and I am glad he has a passion for college football like so many other Americans. For now, our constituencies — and I know he understands constituencies — have settled on the current BCS system, which the majority believe is the best system yet to determine a national champion while also maintaining the college football regular season as the best and most meaningful in sports.

"The college presidents, conference commissioners, athletics directors and coaches have continually considered ways to improve the system in keeping with four primary objectives, among others: protecting the unique significance of the regular season, preserving the bowl system for the thousands of students and fans who participate each year, keeping football as a one semester sport and doing what's best for the student-athletes. We certainly respect the opinions of president-elect Obama and welcome dialogue on what's best for college football."
